It’s funny how the smaller channels make the best content
fr I watch more smaller creators than I do bigger ones now. And even if I do watch a more established creator, I watch the good videos they made from years ago before they got boring.

The more a RUclipsr caters to the lowest common denominator audience, the broader the video topics tend to become, possibly at the expense of what made them interesting in first place.
That's why I gravitate around the smaller creators.

I agree with you on most things, though I must add that I think that sometimes a more ''traditional'' outro is better. Whenever Vsauce plays his signature outro song after having dropped a few mind-bombs. Hearing that song and watching the paint drop gives you the clue to sit back and really think about what you've just watched, instead of immediately clicking on the next video.
Good argument. To me it's more of a channel by channel basis. Right now, I'm thinking of just having my videos end on the aight counter in some clever way, which is just me. Others really do benefit from having an outro like the Vsauce outro.
One of the better outro routines I've seen is Jacksfilms old "Yesterday I Asked You (YIAY)" series. At the end of each episode, he has a clip from the previous episode that really entices you to keep watching more.
despite only being made less than a month ago this channel is super underrated, but as many others are saying i bet you will become popular later on because of stuff like the amazing editing
I hope he has a succesful youtube career, this dude put's a lot of effort in making his vids.

I really like this editing style, typically when I watch videos from small online focused video essayists they’re editing seems pretty derivative from an EmpLemon or a Pyrocynical video (not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that, they are good influences), but this video reminds me more of the kind of editing and graphics from a more formal informational channel (e.g. Primer), which makes your videos really stand out
You actually nailed it. I've drawn inspiration from EmpLemon and SunnyV2, among others. I checked out Primer just now, and I can definitely see the resemblence to that as well.

I personally love outros for 2 reasons: 1. They help prevent the annoying instances when autoplay takes me to the next vid before I can pause to read comments for a minute and then I have to go back to video. 2. They also prevent the instances where the end cards cover up content that I want to see

I love ppl put super loud music in the intro. Because that will be the last time their channel will show up in front of me.
I even wrote a script just for this. It will automatically make "Don't recommend channel" happen.
Danny Gonzalez used to have a proper outro with a song and everything but it got copyrighted, and he then started using his own song for the outro which was fun enough that I always stuck to the end of the video to listen to it. But recently, he has gotten rid of his outro and all his videos just end because he noticed that there's a drop off of viewership and most people don't like or subscribe at that point anyway. Though I understand his reasons, I still do miss his outro song.

funnily enough this popped up in my recommended after watching your first video on this and immediately wanting to check out dankpods again, so thank you for that and thank you for making these analysis videos. I still remember an idea where you had to watch till the end so then the creator could get the full revenue, but I doubt that exists now.

3:00 I'd like to protest the "Nobody really pays attention to credits", It's actually really enjoyable to just read as much of them as you can to look for people with funny names and whatnot. Can recommend. Certainly more interesting than just sitting there waiting to see if there's a post-credits scene.

Rare earth has one of the best otros, he changes slightly the text every time to add a joke related to the video, so you always have to pause it to read it all, and after it he adds a blooper or a final though.

wow the quality feels like someone with like a million subs but i just noticed that you dont even have a 1000 subs, the content is very underrated
i just don't have an intro cuz it takes more time to export and its already taking hours.. plus its kinda annoying when you can just have the cards pop up at the end of the vid

For all my Life I've lived I've seen people create beautiful art through videos and such. But all my favourite content creators are small and tiny, rarely upload. They're the bloated big youtubers which fill you constant dopamine to continue watching. But I've not seen many which you can really connect with without making a false reality. Somehow you did that JHXC even though that you never do anything that I could connect with. You did the impossible, you filled me with emotions I loved can't wait for more content.

I literally just finished watching that other video
still disappointed Scott the Woz is also not mentioned in this one, his "Hey All" intro and "Break Out/In" outro theme is iconic.
A good example of a person how somewhat makes you want to see the outro is Tank Fish.
Tank Fish's outros are pretty normal. But for me, I always love to stick around cuz he has this little gag called "todays nuke code" and he will put a code. But due to RUclipss now policies, he had to censor every single one. But I still stick around cuz one time he sang a meme song for like a solid 30 seconds.
I immediately had to think about Markipliers outros - they are pretty iconic to me
To be honest, ending in the middle of a sentence can also be a style if it fits your channel, not somwthing I personally do, but I am also having a shift away from my classic endcard outro on my channel.
My style used to be to play a different song everytime to keep it fresh, but recetly I have cut that segment and just put endscreens over the end of the video, it ends where it ends.
Talking about that I think this video just gave me a lightbulb💡moment, I think I know what I could do as my style... to build up upon what I used to have, but make it way better and more enjoyable. Time to raise that outro retention above the rest of the video ;)

When I reached the end of a movie or beat a video game, usually I stay at the credits to listen to the music I feel like the same could definitely be said for RUclips Scott the woz is a good example he has great outro music

Daily Dose of Internet definitely smashed this in both his intros and outros. Intros are short and iconic. Outros add extra content and makes you wait for the little "later"

I like outros, especially when they have calming music and a subtle animation. I can just sit there and watch in on loop for hours
This is why my channel doesn't have a traditional outro. It's five seconds (the minimum allowed for an end screen) where I tell the viewer what video they may want to watch next because it's either related to the current video or something introducing new viewers to my wider channel content and end it with an ask to like and subscribe. And I only use one end card.
Some videos of mine just end abruptly though with nothing. Outros aren't necessary beyond just saying "don't forget to like and subscribe to see more" easy simple and short. Helps with retention for the algorithm too.

i miss the outro’s that had a small clip at the very end, jacksepticeye does this from time to time still, and evan braddock (siege youtuber) always something i forget about but love seeing when i let the video play out
The Xenogenesis one felt like a callout for me...
To be fair, I have 3 intros/outros for my 3 types of videos I post (not on this channel, on my main) which are: regular, gaming, coding.
And out of them, only *one* uses the Xenogenesis song.
Actually I missed Mrwhosetheboss' last outro with the song Rebellious Way, it's the best outro I've ever seen.

Not sure whether you would classify these as the same thing as outros, but end screens seem to be a good comprise. They serve the functional purpose of having a place to put end cards and scroll patrons while also not being excessive. They can also be really recognisable! I know a lot of vtuber clipping channels whose end screens are highly effective for identification when the content of these channels is all so similar.
