Nice job on this! Excellent production value - this popped up in my feed and I didn't realize this was a school project, rather than another full-time shop, until you mentioned something about it halfway through.
Also, phenomenal explanation of the tech. FWIW, I work as a SWE at a GenAI EdTech startup, and I founded a consulting firm around building out GenAI tech... I'm tempted to start sending this to my clients lol

That said, we're really just at the very tip of the iceberg with all this and we really don't know just how impact this stuff is gonna be.
But the punchline is that no matter how powerful and useful this stuff gets, it's just going to make critical thinking skills more important going forward, not less.

Oh man, thank you so much! I’m so glad that you thought the video was good, that means a lot to me especially coming from someone in the field. And yeah, AI isn’t good or bad in and of itself. It’s how society decides to use it, and I think that the statement about critical thinking skills is definitely applicable. Thank you for the compliments and the insight!

While it is important to use caution when entering information into these AI algorithms, some of them (including ChatGPT now I believe) have measures set in place that don’t let you enter in personal info. So I’d say you’re probably fine but just be more careful in the future :)

    The biggest problems:
1: How does anyone prove their innocence that they didn't use it, when not allowed?
2: What can you even train students to do anymore, that won't be replaced by a machine?

These are two pretty loaded questions, and I think that it would take more than just myself to answer them. I think that it also depends on the situation. To your first question, there are ways that you *can* prove that you did write everything yourself, and in a school setting, you could have a conversation with your teacher to figure it out. To your second question, AI currently can’t do everything, but it is actively getting better and currently is very good at performing repetitive tasks (like data entry). But like I said in the video, it’s not even that good at writing essays right now, and there is a lot of importance in learning how to construct unique arguments on your own regardless. Hope this answers your questions! Again, there is a LOT more nuance to all of this than what I say in this comment, and even than what I say in the video itself, so take it all with a grain of salt and make sure to come up with your own opinion on things :)

@@dasmatech1346 Thank you for the response.
These are the two existential questions that our entire future society will depend upon. My education meant something to me, and I'm saddened to see technology turn it into a complete joke.
One day, we'll also learn the hard truth that we cannot automate our way to prosperity forever. The economy depends on an aggregate population of people being employed, to even afford what companies are selling. Every job AI proponents claim it will create, will ultimately end up on its own chopping block.
