Joel...Generic critical keyboard warrior comment taking the video out of context... is that the game? do we just throw out some petty critical comment without really taking anything into account. You just want to leave a bad comment on my video because you don't understand what it shows?
This is training (I thought that was obvious from the slow motion stuff and the fact i'm helping out my student throughout). It's jibengong - basics/fundamental training. It's not fighting it's training specific skills, it's slow because you need to go slow to begin with in order to allow yourself time to use the specific methods. If i just go fast from day one then my student just gets beaten up and learns nothing, I beat up my student and gain nothing.
The name of the drill is Wuxing jiaoshou - literally it means five elements exchanging hands, but later it becomes faster and more free and then turns into free fighting. At this stage it is just a drill.
These videos are really for people that don't need to be told that this is not fighting, if you think this was meant to be a fight then maybe you need to rethink things yourself. If you want to watch fighting, go watch some UFC or something, if you want to learn about some basic Xing Yi Quan skills then carry on watching and stop making stupid comments.

The slow motion 1/2 step is useless. Xing yi quan is a pure combat art, thrust forward overwhelming the enemy, xing yi is king. Your taichiing the shit out of this new age hippy.

Joel...since I'm currently in China and have met a few old time Xing Yi teachers I can tell you although some are quite impressive none of them have come across as full on bad ass killers, and the vast majority of players in the park are doing Xing Yi Quan for health.
You sound like a raw beginner with statements like this. Pure combat art, Xing Yi is king...? how old are you 12?
And "taiching the shit out of this new age hippy" - first Tai Chi can be a highly effective martial art so it's disrespecting tai chi to talk it down. Second, if I'm a new age hippy then you must be a full on fascist.
Slow motion is not useless. When you are learning a skill if your opponent doesn't provide you time to process said skill then you will not be able to preform it. This is TRAINING, this is how you TEACH, step by step. Maybe someday then you can use Xing Yi with some effectiveness but even then it is not "King" no art is king, anyone can be beaten, any art can be overcome, nothing is supreme. You're being delusional. Train slow to train correct, once correct speed up a little, if it remains correct speed up more. Eventually you move fast and correct, integrity, power, connection. If you try to run before you walk your overwhelming forward thrust is going to be right into the path of a right hook and you'll be knocked the f*** out.
If you don't like the videos then just don't watch them my friend. Stay in your dream world where everyone doing Xing Yi is Jet Li or Donnie Yen and can't be touched and can just fight without any progress in training. If you wake up then come back and maybe see what is really been shown.
