When I used to make dumplings, I preferred to use vegetable suet. Apart from the traditional soft dumplings, I used to sometimes bake them. They become really nice and crunchy with just a hint of softness to the middle.Great with any red meat or game stews.Yum yum.!!!

This is the food that brings back fond memories of my mothers cooking and more recent memories of teaching the kids to make dumplings for stews. Right decided making a beef stew for sunday lunch and getting the family over. Make the stew over friday night saturday morning give it tome to meld flavours, reheat in the crock pot for 90 minutes and add the dumplings just have to sqeeze in 16 of them or run 2 batches of dumplings had to do that before afew time to cater to the tribe. Thanks for the inspration, Take care, God bless one and all.

I only make my dumplings with flour and suet with a bit salt and pepper. I've noticed once or twice when I've made soft dumplings they've been really heavy. I must have had to much water in like you were saying. By the way I wouldn't use a metal spoon in a non stick pan as it will take the top off

I appreciate your feedback, but I speak in a way that is natural for me. This video is from when I was still learning, so I can see room for improvement in my presentation style over time. I create these recipes for those who enjoy them. If my speaking voice is not to your taste, feel free to watch other content instead. I aim to share my cooking in a respectful way for those interested. Please let me know if you have any specific constructive criticism to help me progress. Best regards, Rik
