PLEASE NOTE - 0:37 to 1:22 has had it's original audio replaced
Skip to 1:22 to bypass replaced audio
Due to a copyright claim, I've had to replace the music for 45 seconds of the video. Because the replacing system RUclips offers is incredibly basic, it overlays any audio, not just music. So my usual opening 'Hello and welcome...' etc, had to go. This was the only way in which I could keep the video up and fully visible without completely deleting and re-uploading, which was the last thing I wanted to do.
Hope you all understand. Other episodes of the Ident Review have been affected in a similar way, so any video that has this as the pinned comment will have replaced audio, and the timestamp as above from where you can enjoy the episode as intended
4:38 The way things bend, float and turn is towards the northern star, very visible in the areas where Gaelic is spoken.
7:26 the two telescopes are above Oban, one of the main ports to the gaelic speaking communities.
Great video all the same. I always used to love watching BBC Alba when I could. My Grandmother was a native speaker and I've learnt enough to read signs and understand most of what's said.
I am desperately trynna find where the swings are it looks so nice all I know is you can see the isle of eigg from there
I remember almost all of the idents shown, but that's just because I was mad with scrolling through random channels on Catch Up TV, and although I am English, it gives me a but of nostalgia.
Theory: The star of the BBC Alba logo is actually a neutron star approaching Earth.
@William Owen Yeah, a neutron star is like a light-emitting alternative to a black hole. I mean, there's a bit more to it than that, but I can't pretend to know what it is.
@William Owen Well, only if you can be killed by molecular decompression.
Mangets: exist
BBC Alba logo: (is stronger than a magnet)
Magnet: am i a joke to you
BBC Alba’s old Idents where very relaxing.
Holy crap he used my thing. Also gr8 episode
As part of the production team for these idents I can reveal your theory on the channel logo, and the star, is indeed on the right track.
It’s actually a reference to the North Star, or that’s how we referred to it internally :)
please please pleaaase tell me the locations of these
@@derptube9729 Scotland 😛
@@Xalior no way😮
@@Xalior but yeah please tell me the places these were taken at im not sure why but ive been desperately trying to do that for a while i guess just because nostalgia
@@Xalior damn you never told me
I remember watching this channel out of curiously, it felt so surreal to watch and I remember trying to translate what they said
The “Cars” ons felt like one of those aesthetic car adverts
Really enjoyed this video as i watch the channel out of interest. They released more idents over the past coming years.
Adam can you please tell me the piano music playing at the background when you’re talking about the idents.
Didn't know what BBC Alba was until this video.
good video mate 👍 :)
this is so nostalgic
My request next. Really idents 2009-2020 (including the Halloween idents)
can u do s4c idents
fun fact: all the things in these idents are pointing at the star in the logo
I sometimes watch BC Alba but Scottish Gaelic is a hard language to understand. The sad thing is that Scottish Gaelic might die out of existence due to majority of Scottish people speaking in English. But I am very proud to be part Scottish :)
*BBC
If I didn't know any better, I'd say that this was a channel dedicated to showing movies or shows starring Jessica Alba.
Although, it would be rather cool to watch Dark Angel on a BBC channel!
Okay, I'm pretty dang late on this as I'm just getting to discovering this channel and watching some of the ident stuff for the past week, but for this one I've been thinking rather differently about the theory of the star or logo being like a magnet of sorts towards almost everything around the country there.
Maybe it's me, but this constantly had me thinking about that show Calls on Apple TV Plus. I know that it was an adaptation of an show of the same name form Canal but all these idents did was remind me of that show's first episode and how that one ended. I wouldn't want to spoil it but let me tell you: that terrified me so dang much that all these ddi was bring back some horrifying images of that episode, even though this has gone a different route.
loved it
Hey Adam! Any plans to review the idents for BBC Cymru (BBC's welsh language station)?
S4C too
Could you do an episode on True Entertainment/Sony Channel (2019) idents?
These idents are really well put together and original... however I get some really weird vibes, every one of these seems unsettling. Especially mixed with the normal every day objects seemingly coming to life - it just makes me feel strange.
I came here from Discord 👍
I live in Scotland and recognise some of the buildings. LOL the ident at 6@13 is the William Wallace Statue with His Majesties Theatre in Aberdeen. We aren't gaelic speakers here.
i live in London, nowhere near scotland, and I get BBC Alba transmissions.
i'm not sure why and how.
Sky.
cool man!
I don’t think it’s toward the logo, but towards the star
Camtgp is great
BBC Alba
The TG4 And S4C Of Scotland
Cbeebies Bedtime Stories intro review would be epic
If BBC Scotland can have it's own foreign-language channel, why not BBC Cymru/Wales??
fyi scottish gaelic is pronounced "gallic" unlike irish gaelic which is pronounced "gay-lick"
*Yes, I speak Scottish Gaelic. But I never spoke before, Adam Martyn. **#BBCAlba*
It’s Gah-lik, not Gay-lick. And it’s Al-apuh, not Al-ba. The audio sting is the rhythm of the word Alba. 🙂
How many people actually watch this channel? From what I understood the ratings for BBC Scotland are abysmal.
Sweet.
They really had to abandon this set 😢
The "statues" one made me want to buy a drone i will fix later when it 0.01g or crashed.
Those are the 2008 idents called Oneness.
Cool
In 06:15 that's the statue of William Wallace. Alba gu brath.
You kept pronouncecing Gealic Wrong, you are pronouncing it in a irish way like irish gealic, scottish gealic is pronounced (Ga-li-ck) If you wanted to know :)
In Gaelic you would pronounce Alba as "Alabooh"
Nah its not
Oh wait nvm
Wow, chan urrainn dhomh dad a thuigsinn
It's a shame the commentator didn't investigate how to pronounce the word Gaelic. The way he pronounces it ('Gaylic') is actually the way the Irish language is referred to. Scottish Gaelic is pronounced 'Galick'. A small thing but important to get right
Unfortunately not correct. Garlic refers to all languages in the garlic language group... Scottish gaelic, Irish garlic... Same descriptive term. You are correct in respect of the "local accent" in pronouncing the word garlic. An English person will pronounce it in their way, so the commentator is correct. What should he put on a Scottish accent just to say the word haha...
Nice effort though 😉 go raibh míle mhaith agáit a mháistir!!
Very garlicky lol

loved it
