    That's a horrible take. A 59 is a 59. Did anyone else shoot a 59 this week with preferred lies? And short course? I mean guys what's going on with this nonsense.

      Ole Ricky Spiels couldn’t shoot a 59 if he was given 20 mulligans. I can already see him out there claiming that his left duck hook was taken by the wind 😂😂😂

      @HankHill94263 3 месяца назад

      If you were listening you would heard him say that if you shoot a course record with preferred lies it is invalid. It is literally called preferred lies. It is plain easier than playing everything as it lies. I would be upset if I shot 60 under normal conditions and then someone comes around and shoots a 59 fluffing up their lie and giving themselves perfect set ups

    This is why people hate golf, I shoot a 59 I shoot a 59, doesn't matter if someone decided it was preferred lies. I could legit give myself a perfect setup every shot and NEVER get close to a 59. Its like saying the 1972 Miami Dolphins didnt have a perfect season because they only played 14 games back then. As you Brits would say, that is bollocks.

    It is a 59, but… If you were to compare it to most other sub-60 scores, it probably wouldn’t rank high on the list, but still impressive.

    He shot a score most PGA pros could not shoot on that course regardless of preferred lies or distance - and during a tournament no less (as proven by the weekend). His 59 is cool as hell in my books.

  • @scottkennedy6514
    @scottkennedy6514 3 месяца назад +3

    I would say it’s harder to shoot a 59 on a par 70 over a par 72 where there’s more par 5s for these pros to eat up and have a few more birdies or Eagles.

    • @Venter0911
      @Venter0911 3 месяца назад +2

      You would be wrong. 59 is total shots. Not score in relation to par. With your logic a par 3 course will be tougher to shoot 59 cause there are no par 5’s.

    • @scottkennedy6514
      @scottkennedy6514 3 месяца назад

      @@Venter0911 my point is more about being able to get as many under Par as possible and for these guys Par 5s give them more opportunity to make eagles than on Par 4s. Surely the more opportunities you have the better the chance of going as low as 59. The odds of these guys making 2-3 eagles on Par 5s is far better than holing out a second shot 2-3 times in a round.

      @@scottkennedy6514 -13 on a par 72 is easier than -13 on a par 70, yes. But 59 is a score, not “x under par”. If I give you a par3 course and you make 18 pars you shoot 54(level par), 5 better than 59. Without making a single birdie. The lower the par the easier to hit less shots.
      An eagle on a par 5 is 3 shots. A birdie on a par 4 is 3 shots. Birdie or eagle doesn’t matter, 3 shots is 3 shots. Don’t count birdies or eagles, count shots.⛳️👊🏻

    Hole in 1 is a hole in 1 however long or if your off a mat.
    Stop with all the “asterisk” bollocks..
    You play the course as it is on the day, whatever you shoot, you shoot..

    Disagree heavily on the 2nd part about 59 being better on a part 72 than a 70 or 71. It doesnt matter at all. Usually a par 70 just mean 2 of the potential shorter par 5s were convered into long par 4s. Its not an easier course because its a lower par

  • @yippy8888

    the take on preferred lies in the video probably aligns with how the governing bodies sees the rule though? ie that the rule gives players an advantage compared to when the rule isnt in place. Which in itself seems contradictory. The rule is in place to even the playing field when conditions are such that the player would normally get a better lie as a result of their shot. So why then demerit the rule by saying records and achievements made during the use of such rules are any less noteworthy? If you can win a PGA event playing preferred lies than your corresponding score should still count as an official score.
