I cant not overstate how much i love your design. Its shape is a built in self righter, the weapon design is sick having to punch through the shell and 6 inches of air armour before they hit anything important is such a good design. Cant wait for yall to take the "haha we built a taco robot" idea and make it into a fearsome competitor
Taco Tuesday is one of the coolest battlebot designs I’ve ever seen. From its unique drive layout to its self righting shell ability, it just screams innovation
I really like the compliance mechanism of the armor! Trying to build armor to withstand the crazy kinetic spinner weapons in battlebots is something that really separates a decent team from a great team. I think the idea of absorbing the impact and putting as much distance between you and your opponents weapon is genius.
The new design is amazing, can't wait to see it in action! I love the sandwich approach to the rear wheel, almost any team running omni/mechanum wheels has had some issues where the axles worked their way out and seized the wheel, but with the clearances and design I don't think that's going to be a problem here. The air armor is impressive considering you designed it in such a way you didn't have to enclose the entire bot, a mistake made a lot in the stone/iron age of robot combat where people made huge boxes with tin foil or plastic armor. Have you thought about a ground game? Sad reality is that if you cannot get under your opponent, it's hard to actually make decent weapon contact and you will be bullied around by any bot that can get under you, which with the taco shape basically funneling wedges under it won't be hard. Especially with how they were talking about welding the floor plates of the arena together creating less bumps/ridges for forks to get stuck on, it's going to be as important as ever to have a good wedge or fork setup. There are some bots who rejected this to some degree but they are just outclassed at this point and with the welded floor there is no "waiting until the floor is trashed" moment bots like Deathroll focused on earlier. It seems like the slots on both sides of the weapon uprights could maybe mount some forks but I'm not sure, there would be a lot of torsion on that piece of aluminium frame so it might just twist on a big impact.
Thanks! Yeah, we've made every effort to make this omni wheel last, and still sorta function even when very beat up/missing parts. Re. the fork game: For our Vegas fight, we won't worry about ground game, because I care most about putting on a good show and two robots seeing who has the sharpest spatula is not a good show.... But if we get on the TV show, we may have to add some modular small torsion-spring-loaded feeder forks and use them for certain opponents.
Looks really cool, it's coming together really nice! That omni wheel look good too, also the "fine! LOOK we did it! happy now?!" =D Excited to see it in combat, good luck on the rest of the construction!
I love the taco and really want to see this thing get on the show and do well. Its a really refreshing take on a vert. Do you know if/when youll compete with it again at proving ground?
I have to give your team a thumbs up for using the latest technology in presenting the robot. I believe the robot combat world in general is heading the right way now.
The omni wheel should help you square up a lot easier. Still concerned about head on collisions but the side armour design is a really good idea it would take a lot to penetrate your side. Hopefully the edges self right you quickly because people will go for the base as soon as your tipped.
The big weapon on the front should solve any head-on collisions, maybe add some big chunks of UMWH to the sides of the weapon axle mount to brace it against horizontals but really aside from the weapon uprights, there isn't much to hit on the front. And the back has a big welded steel frame so that should be able to handle some abuse as well.
This battlebot seems near-invincible. The shell, the damping springs, the huge gap between the shell and the motors, disarray didn't really have a chance. How will this do against horizontal spinners though?
Curious if you still have that blackberry keyboard and if you aren't doing anything with it ill pay you whatever you ask for it they dont make or sell them anywhere and i need one so badly 😂😂😂 please hit me up🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Wow just saw the magnitude fight footage, you guys frankly got destroyed. Understandable though, magnitude is so low that you can't really even hit it. Also, taco tuesday was falling upside-down from 2 metres into the air, the shell broke so fast.

The AR visualisation is fantastic

Stay till the end for a short slo-motion destruction clip.... or just skip to the end lol

I thought the AR presentation would be gimmicky, but It was actually really great you being able to physically show what you were talking about

Taco Tuesday's #1 fan. Somewhat biased to why. Enjoyed every bit of this. Great idea with the shell.
Insane design I hope we see it on BB! Good luck!
Super excited to see this thing compete! All the upgrades seem like excellent additions 👍
LETS GO TACO!!!! Good luck against magnitude. Also, are those sponsors i see on the shell?

They're beautiful, aren't they? I could only manage to stare into them.
Does it flip upright if upside-down?
Yes - check out the competition footage of V1 to see that in action
@@CarterHurd this version looks significantly heavier. That's why I was wondering
Ahh, naw it is 250lbs just like the last one, and we kept the center of gravity exactly the same @@beilkster
