I love how Sony didn't announce any show and without them saying a word. People were looking forward to the May Showcase... then people got disappointed that it became a State of Play and not a Showcase, and then people are getting angry that the May Event got canceled and/or delayed to September...

I think PS5 Pro should launch between March-May 2025. Since major 1st party games won't come until next year, IMO, it would be stupid to launch this year.

Damn right, trying to get through mine rn (mostly playing mains story, if i like the game enough ill do side mission etc). Just finished Portal 1 and 2 , great games and now im starting Hollow Knight.

I gotta say I really miss E3. Having everything happen at the same event just felt a bit more special. These online only events just don't feel the same.
I think we can all agree PS5 doesn’t need a pro it needs games that are PS5 only and exclusive.
I only have 1 PS5 exclusive game (Ratchet and Clank), and it felt like it could've been a PS4 game.
3rd party has saved PlayStation this gen so far.

Im not sure i understand this obsession with the first party games. These games take forever to make. I feel like its unrealistic to expect multiple major games a year. With how high quality the games usually are I don't mind waiting. I got plenty of stuff i need to finish anyway. Personally i hate the long announcements. I prefer to have the game within 3-6 months of it being announced. This multiple year shit with a bunch of trailers annoys me.

Because if first-party games aren’t at least once a year, why own the console? That’s the whole point of buying into a platform. Third-party games can be played anywhere.
@@fantasythinkerfan for me it's for the convinence. I got a decent PC, and if I think a game will get great mods like baldurs gate, I'll get it on PC. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've had a lot of ridiculous shit go wrong on PC. Whereas my playstation has mostly been flawless with very few exceptions.
I honestly think they're holding everything back to show off with the Pro later this year. I'm not a big fan of this but we don't really have a choice in the matter either. I'm confident they'll nail their games but I'm really curious what they're working on.
Great watch as always 👊🏿, I'm of the same mind as some, where unless a game is within like 6 months of coming out i dont need to know about it. Nit because trailers dont hype me up but because trailers add no value especially if its just cinematics and stuff. Rather just give us the gameplay trailer when the game is less than 6 months out then we can start getting excited. All this business of years away is a non factor.

A lot of their games as a service got delayed or cancelled. My bet is that some of them were supposed to come this fiscal year. That's why the gap.

My guess is a smaller state of play this month. Then a full ps5 pro showcase sometime in july.
Miden hardware won't be shown until a couples months out from release. It's always been that way. Games take a long time to make anymore. Due to this I think Sony will ever only do SoP's now and show them one at a time or a couple at a time now.
I don’t see why Sony can’t just show a teaser for GOT2, and a couple of other games. I mean, I’m sure GOT2 is planned for 2025, which is close enough.
No way it releases in 2025 the original came out in 2020 and games take atleast 7 years to make nowadays. It would have to be a half assed sequel like Spider-Man 2 and Ragnarok where they recycle pretty much everything from the original game (map,models,animations,assets etc) which I really hope isn’t the case

@@jacobross735 Recycle stuff is great and speeds up game release and quality specially these days where games cost so much and take so much time. Spiderman 2 had story problem but visually it was awesome. Ragnarok was awesome the only problem it had was pacing and rushed finale.
@@Jadepeanut I'd say that Ragnarok had some serious story issues as well, if truth be told. Then again, I'd say that HFW was a dumpster fire in terms of story. It used to be that Sony could be relied on for its narrative - it seems that the industry has changed, and people with no experience at actually writing well are cheaper to employ. Well, just wait till the AI-generated swill hits the screens.
@@AdelaideBen1 I disagree man .The Story and Characters of Ragnarok were very appealing and i loved it. The only problem was pacing and rushed finale . The graphics and voice acting was amazing. Ragnarok is not a 10 out of 10 like GOW 2018 but it sure hell is 9 out of 10. HFW idk about that one.

I think the may state of play(if it exists) will cover PS games for this year like Concord, Phantom Blade Zero, Spider0Man 2 DLC and maybe some third party exclusives. I don't think we're getting a proper state of play with 1st party stuff until later this year where they'll do the ps5 pro reveal.
So Phantom Blade Zero is made by the Chinese S-Game isn't it? What games have they done before (I tried to find, and all I could see was Phantom Blade: Executioners which was supposedly released last year on all platforms including mobile - but doesn't have any reviews on Metacritic). Correction: It has released on mobile... and it looks very much like a mobile game. Doesn't bode well for PBZ. This could be another Wukong, or it could be a "Little Devil Inside" vapourware. Edit - S-Game announced a while ago that they were going to release a demo in 2024... so it looks like a 2025 release date.

I feel like they are holding up on the games cuz of the PS5 Pro, they will most likely have games already optimized and with better performance/graphics on ps5 Pro...I might be wrong though.
My bet - a SoP for third party that will feature Silent Hill as the lead a so-so collection of games already revealed (Plucky Squire / Baby Steps / Cats Quest / Judas / MG Delta / Until Dawn)... Keighley gets a SM2 DLC, GoW Ragnarok for PC and a Horizon mobile/Lego game... maybe Destiny. Any left-overs, and Concord, AstroBot and crap-tonne more re-masters/Horizon spin-offs for the Showcase in Sept. Unfortunately, I don't think any of them are going to be that exciting; and I suspect that 2025 is looking not that different to 2024 for Sony. Also - expecting the SoP to be announced for 30th (and followed by a deeper dive Silent Hill specific event/presentation from Konami). PlayStation will only have GoT2 in 2025 as a major tentpole release, maybe with a Returnal 2 - Maybe an Uncharted spin-off (not by ND). Wolverine, Marathon, FairGame$ and hopefully the new SM game 2026. I'm guessing ND will aim for a 2025-2026 release for their new IP, but expect an end of generation for TLOU3. Maybe a GoW spin-off with Atreus in 25/26 as well? The only real mysteries to me is Studio Bend and BluePoint. Both could put something out in 2025 easily - but it's also easy to see a new IP stalling and going back to the drawing board (I hope BP aren't just going to do another remake). Of these, I am guessing that GoT will end up being the Pro figurehead in that line-up / time-frame, given that GTA is late 25 at best. I just hope to God they don't go down the portable PS4 route (as I've heard some people suggesting)... that would be the nail in the coffin for pointless hardware devices that just stall the eco-system further (especially given that you can already buy a steam deck to play PS5 games). Oh nearly forgot... plenty of movie and tv trailers galore. Transmedia baby - that's how Sony makes it's money (according to their Strategy presentation).
We could get a new trailer for Death Stranding 2, but can't think of much else.

To be fair, it's not the end of the world if we don't get a showcase or a SoP. Summer Game Fest is only a few weeks away, its been confirmed PlayStation will be there. So its not like we're gonna go several weeks without getting anything.
I agree with waiting till closer like Nintendo does, it avoids getting too hyped up to a point where it will be a disappointment. ES6 will be a disappointment whether it's good or not because people have been waiting so long and expecting it to be Skyrim but I don't think we will see a game that big from them again.

Gaming has went from the era of multiple great games options to play to just a few good games micro transactions and DLCs. Like they’re still dropping DLCs for gta 5 which has been out for damn near 15 years now they should’ve been gave us gta 6. That’s why it’s no rush to get the new gen systems when it’s really no big games dropping consistently

I am starting to think the same. I used to be a PC gamer, but after a while I just liked the simplicity and comfort of consoles on the couch... but the way things are going, I am becoming less interested in what Sony (or Microsoft for that matter) are putting out.

If this is true and they don’t come with some big news then it will honestly start to feel hopeless for their first party output on PS5. Like what the hell are you guys even working on if you still aren’t ready to tell us about games for 2025 yet??even a simple title drop for Astro, Ghost, Venom or unannounced new IPs would be nice. I was fine with 2023 being a slow year for PS first party and now 2024 is lacking. If 2025 is equally as dry then I’ll be baffled.
The majority of their studios won’t be releasing games until 2026 and even beyond that. You gotta think Naughty Dog and Santa Monica probably aren’t even past the pre production stage of their newest titles. Especially ND who just wasted years of development time and resources on the cancelled factions project. Jim Ryan really fucked this gen for games when he went all in on the GaaS push and then cancelled half the games or just shut down the respected studios and laid off half the workers lol

@@jacobross735 Naughty Dog i can understand but Santa Monica has 2 teams and have a new IP in the works outside of God of War so you’d think that team has had enough time to cook up something. Team Asobi made a 2 hour tech demo and hasn’t announced a single thing 4 years later. Bluepoint hasn’t done anything since launch. Media Molecule has made one console game in like 13 years. I feel like these are the teams we should have updates from by now. I’m not asking for a new spiderman or god of war or last of us yet but there’s gotta be something on the horizon
Sony prefers not to show their games too soon, wolverine I believe its Marvel who pushed for the trailer ! and honestly the trailers coming by surprise 5-6 months from release is always the best because we get to see gameplay and in console real footage ! and as long as XBOX is incapable of releasing something that hits hard, Sony will just keep working on their projects quietly and slowly. I predict there will be a state of play but it will show 3P games ( silent hill, metal gear, Monster hunter, BM Wukong, Concord and horizon Lego ) and people who expects the big 1p games will be disappointed

Idk, Sony is in a really pressured spot right now. Their stock has dropped $20 since the start of 2024. If they drop the ball again in the next show case… idk, they might give out a teaser displaying the Pro just to save face. 2025 is a looooong time in the gaming world to not have anything to show.

Sony's stock price is not determined solely by PlayStation and its stock isn't down because of PlayStation.
More importantly, teasing the Ps5 Pro now would onyl soften PS5 sales until its release. Makes no sense to announce it early.
Again, they'll have a showcase in September when they actually reveal the PS5 Pro, no one said they wouldn't show anything between now and 2025... what a clown take.
What would be the point in announcing it - if they don't have anything to play on it. It'll be lucky if it's out by Christmas - more likely early-mid 2025.
@@natedagreat19 More importantly - it's a long time for investors to stick around. It's not all doom and gloom, but their strategy presentation was ridiculously un-convincing. They really looked dead-in-the-water.... their version of AI was getting sub-titling done. That's literally industry standard stuff, and they think this is going to save production costs? Unfortunately, Sony is in one of two states - media black-out, or buzz-word-salad. All we want as consumers is damn good games at a reasonable pace.
Releasing a Pro when you’ve just barely made your console actually widely available for purchase is some real faceslapping shit.

I will honestly ask a question. Do we need a State of Play, or have we as a society of gamers become such greedy and never-ending fiend that can never be satisfied? How many of this audience has actually beat every major release/hit that has come out this past year? I bet not many or at most 10%. Most game players have come to a habit of buying all releases and not even putting in more than 10 hours of play into the release besides the one that hooks them. We as a culture have become so disgusting and fat from the things we want vs. need that we will never be satisfied that we are almost at the point we have hit our end. We have now become the group that sits at the table, eating lumps of gunk and getting fat, while the world is outside and passing us by. I feel gaming as a whole needs to crash and maybe go away for a little bit, if not just to give us a refreshed impression of the things we as gamers are always taking advantage of.
I think you might be talking more about your own experience... to be honest, re-reading your I'm not sure if you're just trolling, or your part of some sort of Doomsday Cult of the Lamb. I think the gaming industry is likely heading for a major "adjustment" - hopefully smaller than the 80s - but I don't think it's because of gamer greed. I think it's more likely because of mis-management and overly ridiculous games budgets.

I dont mind early reveals. The leadup to a game is just as much part of the experience as the game itself imo.
The announcement, the first teaser, second teaser, screenshots, big trailer, story trailer, release.
I would rather have 6 announcements, 3 teasers and 1 trailer during a showcase than just 1 trailer and complete silence about the other studios.
Xbox has so much shit coming out the next 2 years and all Sony has is a pro version of their already disappointing console. And people have largely ignored Sony being more than lackluster this entire generation.

X Box has released, maybe One game worth it, in Hi Fi Rush...In the past 12 months, PlayStation has released Stellar Blade, Rise of Ronin, FF7 And Spiderman 2.
Their output is like, wayy better than the piss poor output that X Box has been on lately. I guess everyone forgot about Red Fall, Starfield's Fall Off(Most of the planets being boring, kinda killed the experience for so many people)or The Recent HellBlade 2's lack of compelling gameplay and division among fans.

That would just mean they’re setting the bar low for the fans and after that pathetic showcase last may, one first party game in 2 years and no communication from Sony that would just be a slap in the face to their fan base, especially when Nintendo and Xbox have big reveals coming up. Honestly a state of play is just copium at this point. I think it’s pretty clear Sony has nothing to show and to be honest I don’t think they will be releasing any big games until around 2026-2028

@jacobross735 Silent Hill 2 Remake is also coming to Xbox and PC too I'm pretty sure and just Concord is not really a heavy hitter. We need at least some kind of announcements for the heavy hitters so that we can have something to be excited for for the PS5. Just because it isn't coming out this year doesn't mean they can't announce it.

Please no.... but yes, that's possibly a SoP or a Keighley announcement. FFS I'm so over Horizon now... loved the first game, suffered the second, but all I see is rampant over-saturation of what is a pretty but increasingly disappointing franchise.

I feel people that get disappointed the most about events are the ones that only play AAA games, many showcases/state of play, feature great smaller games and people just shit all over those then complain that gaming is dying that there is no creativity and originality but will get hyped for GTA that's always have been more of the same, and just play valorant, fortnite or overwatch
Yeah always makes me laugh 😂, that one joke that people always bring up about the person complaining about gaming being dead the most probably only plays COD, sports games, battle royales etc coz there's a lot of big budget bad games dropping but there's also a lot of good smaller games that don't get anywhere near the attention they deserve.
Because without those tent-pole games, there would be no need for consoles... you could buy a low-powered pc/laptop (or PS4/XBone). Like it or not - the industry is powered by the drive for bigger and better. It's not saying that indie games shouldn't be praised - but it's saying that most gamers (at least in my experience) long for the tentpole exclusives; and exist in between on indies/third party games. Not always (Elden Ring being an exception), but that's just how the industry has evolved. And yes, it could be the death of the industry.

@@AdelaideBen1 If that was true consoles wouldn't be selling as much as they do, the market is still there, what is not present is the unlimited growth that the corporations want.
You will see a lot of RUclips videos how this is the worse console generation, that there are no exclusives anymore, yet PS5 still shipped 4.5million consoles in the last 3 months, and even PC games most of the time are ports from the console version of the games.
Personally I don't like playing on phones or tablets or laptops because of the small screens or the lack of a decent controller, even to play on PC is a hassle to use a real TV instead or a monitor or use a proper dual sense controller, a console even for the same games provide a better experience and I would guess is similar for many others or nobody would be buying millions of consoles, that other reality sounds really influenced by youtubers and twitter discourse, also very American that's why Xbox only was popular there, on Europe Asia, and even Latin America Xbox was and always would be a joke

I think it's wise to not expect anything in the gaming world for now. With the state gaming is atm.

even the PS5 alone hasn't had enough "next-gen" content to be considered a necessity in the current state of the industry, I do have one but I still think you can get by with a PS4 with relatively small differences, a PS5 Pro would be such a money waster of a console. I'll feel genuinely embarrassed for anybody that actually gets pulled in by the marketing and buys the thing. it's not needed and I honestly think it never will be
I would have been more interested if they had upped the CPU - not just the GPU. So many of these "immersive" games that have been coming out are just as much CPU bound as GPU. What's the point in having a sweet GPU, if it's hog-tied by an already slow CPU?)
We have alot of games but not first parties for both Xbox and Sony they lacking so hard in last 3 years anway ian replaying Mass effect trilogy extremely good for their times better than newer releases even in arts and graphics

I don't care about PlayStation anymore. Sold my PS5 cuz there was absolutely no reason to hold on to it, bought a gaming laptop, and it does everything the PS5 was doing and more.

So far, Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst have been horrible for Sony Fans. 1st Party has been MIA under them and they won’t share news, or a roadmap.
