- is vegan being replaced by plant based??? god i needed to get this one off my chest! had so many thoughts on this as of late and think i've covered them in this video. keen to know if you've ever thought so deeply about the difference between 'vegan' and 'plant based' before? do you have a preference in the wording? keen to hear your thoughts!
My hubby is of the opinion that people are less likely to buy things if vegan is written on them. Thinks people don't like vegans as they think we're weird. Personally I think people who think like that are pathetic. I feel safer if vegan is on the packets.
😂 like WHY do people get like that over ‘vegan’??
@@VeganBeautyGirl No idea. Also don't understand why people tell me about the meat they've had when they know I'm vegan. Very strange and annoying.
Nicole your vlogs makes me so calm and peaceful, Thank you so so so much for making such a wonderful beautiful vlogs for us and I will always be your supportive🥹💫💗
thank you!!
My daughter likes the Quorn Vegan chicken.
I have heard that “plant based” generates greater sales. Likewise writing suitable for Vegans sells more than Vegan Cake. I agree with what you say re Veganism. Guess it’s the job the media have done in associating Veganism with eating leaves or being a hippy who lives off the land 🍃. I always need to see the Vegan word for reassurance. I also don’t mind the “made with a Vegan receipe” to let ppl know it’s made in a factory with non vegan ingredients. Thanks for the video 🙏
and normally i hate the 'let's do what sells best' method... if it's getting people to eat less meat? okay, it's a win.
@@VeganBeautyGirl yes I think whatever works. If describing a Vegan cake slightly differently boosts the sales, do it :)
I’ve changed my mind on the plant based label partly because of this video I definitely agree it’s a less divisive label, the vegan label does sound like people might not connect with it and its important to have gateway swaps and get people trying vegan things!
Also BF soft launch? 👀
i’m glad! tbf i think you can tell im trying the change my mind. i think it hurts to see something you identify with get rejected but you can’t argue with the facts!
no 👀
@@VeganBeautyGirl ah sorry to assume I just saw another creator do something similar and it reminded me of it haha 😅
I was literally just discussing your RUclips channel one min ago & then got this notification!!!
fate!
I do see the term plant based as a little more flexible. I'm far more likely to pick something up if its labelled vegan. I haven't dome an analysis in Asda (my supermarket of choice) but their OMV range is displayed both in and out of the "Vegan" section. Though it may be labelled as a "Plant based" aisle. I'll have to look and see
please report back! has asda rolled back on their vegan products this year? or is it much the same?
If it’s a product I’m unfamiliar with and only says plant based, I don’t fully trust the product without reading all the ingredients or checking the product’s website. We have so few products we can just pick up without worrying about it not being vegan, because the packaging says vegan right on it…plant based make me have to do a double take. Just annoying.
yess! completely agree! i just don't feel so convinced by 'plant based' as it just doesn't feel weighed down to any regulation? not that i could find at least!
Love this! I’m trying to be 🌱 vegan. I’ve been veggie since 2017 and now I’m loving slowly transitioning to vegan 🌱. The “eggy” bread recipe is amazing! I was just about to look for a recipe online. My fav vegan swap so far has been tofu scrambled with silken tofu bloody delicious!! Keep up the amazing work and thanks for spreading all the positive news to do with animal cruelty xx ♥️🍉🇵🇸🧿🇵🇸🍉♥️
loooove tofu scamble!! one of my faves.
As I'm vegan I personally don't mind if a product shows either "vegan" or "plant-based". I see many people shy away if they read "vegan" though. Anyway, I love your videos and your What I eat in a day/week, etc.
thank you!
Everything you made looks amazing! I didn’t think about the name until now .
As a vegan, I ofc feel more safe with things that are clearly labelled vegan. But for me, as someone who focuses on a wfpb diet more or less and rarely eats out, I’ve somewhat divided products based on being vegan, plant-based, then wfpb. Like you mentioned with the carrots, they’re a single ingredient item-> wfpb things don’t need labelling because we can see exactly what’s in it. More processed or even lightly processed things are more likely to be labelled plant-based. Vegan for me is an word to describe the person’s ethical stance and not the diet. (Not comparing veganism to a religion!!) but calling food vegan is similar to calling halal food “muslim”. There’s muslim-friendly food which would be halal for those that are strict about what they eat and how it’s made; similarly there are (wf) plant-based foods for vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, or people looking for a less cruel option. Tl/dr: companies are capitalizing and exploiting people’s interest as always 😂 and I’ve definitely seen “plant-based” cleaning items as someone else mentioned that aren’t even cruelty-free so vegan isn’t = plant based and plant-based is the perfect word to describe flexitarians and people who only eat less animal products, but wouldn’t hesitate to eat animal products if they were on vacations or something like that
I try to eat whole food plant based for health reasons. I’ve noticed a very drastic improvement in my health since eating this way. I think that the plant based is a trick lingo for both vegans and wfpb. There’s a push in the dietary world to eat more plants. I’ve noticed some ingredients that I would consider chemicals in these plant based products.
I’ve seen some plant based items that have milk or eggs in them. I read the labels very carefully on anything that says plant based because if they add a lettuce sprig they call it plant based. 😮
thats awful!!
Ooh you could use the pulp from the juice in tzatziki-mix it with mayo or yogurt 😋
Deffo feels like UPFs have ruined the vegan label after the recent bad press, whereas plant based doesn’t sound like a UPF, but it generally is. Be interesting to see if people considered Plant Based as “healthier” than Vegan. Please do more opinion based videos, love the discussions & reading comments
I always still pick up and read it if something is labelled plant based just in case. Pretty annoying, but I like more people eating what is basically vegan food. I always double check for honey!
same! restaurants make me anxious too. like pls just call your vegan meals vegan
I feel like food can be plant based, meaning no animal products are in it. But vegan is best a descriptor of a person, business, or org, because veganism is at its core about harm reduction to sentient beings. Seems to me like labelling a food for vegans is best if it is plant based AND no animals were involved in any way in the production or processed by that brand. But I'm betting most folks would find me nitpicky 😅
Hi Nicole, I love your videos. 🌱❤I agree with you. I have noticed that in shops to!
i miss the era of everything being 'vegan' even if 'plant based' is the same same but different
Dear Nicole, I am impressed on your vlogs because your vlogs makes me so calm and peaceful. Thank you so much for making such a wonderful beautiful vlogs. With a little optimization, I believe you could draw in a wider audience. Would you be up for discussing some ideas?.
i've noticed this toooo
Another awesome what the beautiful & gorgeous Nicole ate in a week. Yes it is weird why some products are described as plant based or vegan. I don't really care that people don't like me because I am vegan (it's their problem). I will always like and love ❤ you Nicole because you are vegan.
thannk you!
Couldnt agree with you more, just a shame how the term ‘vegan’ gets rejected 🙅♀️
One thing that really annoyed me is when I noticed that flash (cleaning brand) used the words.. ‘plant based ingredient) not ingredients..! Almost into tricking people into thinking it’s plant based or vegan or more natural, which we all know… flash is neither natural or cruelty free or vegan..
lmaoooo what even is that?!?!! what a stretch that's awful!
Quorn are the best plant based products. I love thier sausages, better than Linda McCartney sausages. I prefer soya milk to any other dairy free milk. I'm getting a 'VEGAN' tattoo design this weekend.😊
yayyy love that! i have a little green v on my side :)
I have a dairy allergy and also prefer to eat very little animal products. I’d rather the label say vegan so I know it’s free from animal products. When it says plant based, I’m paranoid it’ll contain animals so I always read the label. It’s sad people are put off by the word vegan.
so annoying! people do just get so defensive of vegans 🤷🏻♀
@@VeganBeautyGirl yeah and it’s so weird? I don’t call myself vegan as although I avoid animal foods, I still wear wool etc as vegan means lifestyle (it’s not just what you eat). But when I eat out I have no problem asking for vegan menu or eating in vegan places. Love the channel ❤️
What is vegan honey? How is it made? X
this one was made from dandelions and is delicioussss
Sadly it is happening however remember many people have tried cancelling us LOL which is weird I have to be vegetarian for the moment but when I can I will be vegan again 💝 wish you many happiness
Omg girl that date tho!!! Pleasee spill the beans on how it went overall because in those clips you seemed annoyed and he seemed annoying lmaoo im dying to know!!
@@anntecz hahaha 😂 no i’m just bossy when filming def seeing him again
Unfortunately, hardcore vegans have ruined the image of veganism. The no holds barred attacks and holier than thou attitudes on anyone who isn't a perfect vegan has meant the ordinary public see vegans in the equivalent light as "Christians" or "Mormans" etc. So to get an idea of what the ordinary public thinks of when they see a vegan label, just imagine a book or food labelled "Christian". It's better to just label something as "wholesome" and avoid the negative connotation.
Vegan doesn’t mean plant based,it just means it’s free of any animal products plant based means it’s a product made out of plants instead.
Eh? What do vegans eat? Fucking asteroids ☄️?
You rock !
Do you lift bro ?

Cute leather jacket you are wearing there in the dark. Did you think we wouldn't be able to tell?
She talks openly about owning some leather items bc they are second hand. She tries not to get anything with leather and doesn’t buy anything first hand, but feels like if it’s a „hand me down“ or thrifted, it doesn’t go ethically against her beliefs.
Btw… let he who is innocent cast the first stone…
Please try being kind when commenting. 🫶
happy to talk about this! i’ve been vegan since 2007, but in recent years, as i’ve learned more about fast fashion and the sheer amount of great second-hand pieces out there, i’ve become open to wearing second-hand leather. honestly, i’m tired of vegan 'leather' falling apart after just a few months-it feels wasteful and makes me feel like i’m part of throw-away fashion, which i don’t support. i totally get that it doesn’t sit right with every vegan (it didn't sit right with me for well over a decade), and that’s okay! i think there are lots of ways we can all contribute to sustainability. for me, reusing what’s already been made feels like the best way to avoid supporting new leather production. i’m hopeful that by the time fast fashion finally slows down, we’ll have much better, durable vegan leather options and i'll switch back to those.
@@VeganBeautyGirl I think it's akin to owning second-hand child pornography. Rather firsthand, second hand, or 20th hand, evil is evil and harm is harm. Period. Corpses belong buried in the ground, not marketed as fashion statements. Other people's bodies should never be thought of as ours to wear, every bit the same as to eat, they do not belong to us. As far as I'm concerned, I don't know what you think you are, but you are not vegan. Buy cotton. It lasts just fine.
Boy, that really escalated!
