Luke Drever, a 40-year-old with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Adelaide and business manager for an Adelaide renovations construction company called Brightspace Homes, and his accomplice Kevin Reilly, 41, found themselves facing lengthy prison sentences after their involvement in a large-scale methamphetamine manufacturing operation. The operation took place at an isolated property in Harolds Cross, located 30km southwest of Braidwood, New South Wales. The pair was apprehended and subsequently sentenced by the New South Wales District Court.
Drever and Reilly were arrested as part of a sting operation conducted by a task force specifically established to investigate clandestine drug labs. Their arrest took place during the height of the Black Summer, with bushfires raging across both New South Wales and South Australia. On January 11, 2020, when Police raided the property, Drever and Reilly were in the midst of producing a significant quantity of methamphetamine oil.

The Australian legal system is an adversarial system. In the past some very very well heeled families funded a King's Counsel to convince ;) ;) the judge not to convict on a Psychiatrist report. This precedent then makes the new laws that other judges must follow. This is why a good Barrister Kings Counsel is necessary in any criminal case. I live in Ukriane, in Ukraine you go to jail for the maximum and tell your mental health problems and child hood dramas to your cellmate. In Ukraine it is safer than Australia. No criminals like Australia because the jails are very very harsh . They don't feed you properly only porridge, water, you have to ask friends and family to send any goodies in the post. Luckily in Australia the church do gooders run the country and they try to make prison cosy. This is why Australia is the best place in the world if you are an old criminal, because conditions are better inside than outside.
