  • I was really curious if tire pressure made a big difference in the riding time. I ran an experiment to find it out.

Once I rode to the office with a very flat tire and against headwind and it felt like an eternity. Like riding an exercise bike.

I rode my road bike to work Friday and it took me an hour to get there and it is only 15 blocks away from where I live. Come to find out both my tires were completely flat. After work I aired up my front tire and it held air. Back one I didn't even try to air up because I knew it was flat for awhile now because the presta valve is broken inside the tube and with a road bike a flat rear tire isn't noticeable when riding so I don't pay any attention to it. I knew something wasn't right with it when I was riding it. It made a squishing and snapping noise from the front and I knew it was a flat front tire. I'm going to ride it to work tomorrow morning with the flat rear tire on it. Shouldn't take me as long to get there as it did with both tires flat.

I like the D-fender concept for managing headwind. What do you think?

Before watching the video I'm going to guess the answer is that tire pressure makes a difference. Maybe not timewise but perceived exertion.

There's also a considerable perceived difference, which didn't make it to the cut.

@@BikeCommuterHero I did watch the video all the way through, thanks for making it! I guess until we learn something new, we'll always deal with Newtonian physics and thermodynamics 😀
