One thing you forgot that is very helpful: manage your breathing. Take a deep breath before you pull, and as you pull up, forcefully exhale. Generally this should ideally always be done, but this tremendously helps especially for this exercise.

My form isn't perfect but I can knock out about 5 muscle ups so far without a band I did some short videos on my channel to document it. But yea working to get on this level. Looked shredded to btw!

As far as grip goes, if you're doing this at the gym on rubberized bars, your hands will not be able to rotate around the bar as you go up due to the friction, so you pretty much must use the thumb over the bar grip.

Great tips Daniel! I have a question tho if I may:
How can I progress to a bar to belly/navel pull up in your opinion?
I know you made a video about pulling to your chest explosively, and training low reps, but even if I train 1-2 reps as explosive as I can I cannot seem to progress at all even after 2 months. Do you have any tips on achieving a bar to navel pull up?
Do you recommend the large momentum --> no momentum muscle ups like in the video perhaps?

I've got a question about elbow pain while doing tricep related exercises. During muscle up transitions and Russian pushups, my right elbow has pain, to the point where I can't handle much weight. I suspect it's related to shoulder flexibility or rotator cuff? That shoulder has far less range of motion, but maybe I'm assuming the wrong thing.. any ideas?
I'm working on the transition in reverse, with my feet on the ground (rings), but that elbow just hasn't made progress in the past couple months.
