- I rang this one ton monster up one Sunday and I was so tired afterwards! My friend Zoe thought I was just trying to chime it, but she then saw that I was ringing it up! The clapper went up wrong though and I was on a tiny box! The bells weighs 21 cwt and I got it up on the first try!
Well done my friend! Keep it up and love those bells!! PEACE!
I had a pull on a 20 1/2 cwt tenor today. Once she gained some momentum I grabbed the salley and held on tight. Great Craic!
Well done you did well and I am learning to ring bells
I subscribed. Nice video!😆😆😆😆😆
I rung up a bell for the first time in Bath recently, it weighed about 14cwt. Next week is our district practice in Christ Church, Lurgan, and I'm thinking about ringing up the 21cwt tenor
As for ringing down... I tried ringing down in peal on the front 8 at Bath Abbey (the hammer that struck the tenor on the hour got stuck)... It did NOT go well ._.
BrickyBoy I'm guessing that was at St Michael's in Bath? The 14cwt 8?
No, the 7th bell at Bath Abbey
Ok. Just a bit of advice - going straight from 14 to 21 was acceptable but going on to 33 and then something heavier is really pushing the limit - when you ring up a heavy bell you risk having a heart attack if you aren't used to them.
I wouldn't dare ring up tenors more than 15cwt with a Hoodie or Tracksuits, my legs would be mad sweaty, and it would make me even more tired. Just a T-Shirt and Floppy Shorts will do!
Ever tired ringing the tenor at Wells Cathedral? 56 and a quarter cwt, it’s absolutely massive.
Well done
Well done !!!
Good job!!! :)
It went up wrong
Did it go up 'right'? There was a lot of swinging before it chimed; not much 'pull and check'
No, it didn’t. This was the first time I’d rung a bell heavier than 10cwt and I didn’t have the strength to get it up right. However in later years before I left this tower I could get it up right no problems. Just a half pint inexperienced 13 year old me making a pig’s ear of it! :p
Well done mate... How much weight is the tenor you rung?
21cwt
How weight
"One ton monter????" You're absolutely KIDDING me. Think about the big bell of Bucharest's salvation cathedral because that is a real heavyweight.
It is if you've never rung it before
@@fredmills368 Well that makes sense. But still the bell in Bucharest weighs 25 tons. You think this is a joke, it isn't.
@@fredmills368 Great Paul. The biggest working bell in the UK is Great George of liverpool because Great Paul is broken and the Olympic bell is silent.

@@fredmills368 Bigger than petersglocke of cologne! Petersglocke only weighs 24 tons
Wow that is big
I could tell it was going to go up wrong because you didn't chime it all the way up at the bottom!
