Hello Belfast! I hope to visit some day, I'm 100 percent Irish so I feel like I need to visit at some point in my life. I didn't know the E.P. was supposed to be released in 23, wonder why it didn't happen.
I've liked the old Ratt stuff from early on. Check how the Darkthrone song The Hardship Of The Scots from their Old Star album kicks off with a very, very, Ratt sounding riff. Fenriz even freely admitted the similarity in many interviews supporting the album (one more fun fact: he has a Hanoi Rocks tattoo, as well). But yeah. The Hardship Of The Scots. Ratt. Check it out.
Never heard that song but listening right now and holy cow...you're right, total Ratt!..haha. I wouldn't have expected that influence in their sound. Didn't know he had a Hanoi Rocks tattoo either.
I’m a CD guy and was only four years old when this EP was released, so my listening to this EP has strictly been on RUclips. I know there’s an out of print CD out there but it boggles my mind this hasn’t been released on this format since the late 80’s or early 90’s. It’s not even on Spotify. I am a really big fan of the music here. This and OUT OF THE CELLAR are my favorite Ratt releases. I find it fascinating that Ratt, Dokken and Motley Crue all had major labels remix their first independent releases when they were re-released. Metallica did not get the same fate with their first two albums - thank God. Oh, and those are the most identifiable legs in the world for MTV watchers. Rest in peace, Tawny.
I was surprised also that this EP wasn't on streaming, but there aren't, to my knowledge any Ratt albums that have bonus tracks or are even remastered.
There were 5 actual ' Hair Metal ' bands Quiet Riot, WASP, Twisted Sister, Dokken, and Ratt. Motley Crue only recorded 2 Metal albums ( one to be exact, the debut just features 2 actual Metal songs) . All the others were just the Bay City Rollers with minimally distorted guitars
I would have to think about it but I probably couldn't argue with you on this, although I might saw WASP fell more into just being a straight up metal band.
Purchased the original ( I had original back picture) after Out of the Cellar Summer 84 .. 3 songs side A 3 songs side B , didn’t think of it as an E.P. ? . Although it was .I guess it was an import?
I used to own the Time Coast Ratt EP. As I recall Stephen Pearcy wore a fur coat in the band photo. Tell the World was really Heavy. There's a version of Tell the World on the first Metal Massacre. It sounded like an outtake from British Steel. Ratt and Steeler were removed from the album, as was the original rough quality Mettallica😂 Hit the Lights. All 3 tracks were replaced by Black n Blue - Chains Around Heaven, and a more polished rendering of Hit the Lights. Any way you look at it customers have been screwed out of an album track. I guess that someone at Metal Blade believes that Black n Blue is so good that including another band would be unnecessary.
Ratt sounded like a totally different band prior to the Ep. They used to be known as Mickey Ratt. Ratt might have been the only 1980s band that actually played 'Commercial Metal ' . At least early in their career there was no doubt that the music was Metal, and it certainly was Commercial. Motley Crue started out as a Metal band, but they didn't really have the Pop sensibilities of Ratt. Most of the so called 'Hair Metal ' is actually just Pop Rock. Especially considering how everyone is Hell bent on calling the entire AC/DC catalog of albums straight up Rock. AC/DC definitely had a Harder edge than 99.9% of the 'Hair Metal ' bands.
Nice video! I am a huge RATT fan… was my first concert (Ratt opening for Billy Squier - summer 84) and have the Time Coast version on vinyl and the Atlantic reissue on CD. I really do not like and avoid the reiusse. The mix of Juan is so loud and just awful… it sticks out so much it’s all I can hear now when that version comes on (said another way, I can’t ungear it! lol). Just got to your comment on Back for More… love the acoustic intro, which adds some length and is the version they always play(ed) in concert… anyway… Juan is disgustingly loud on that track. lol It’s still great though!!
Bought the EP and Cellar back when they released and i am still listening to them... RATT N ROLL!!!!
Nice!
Greetings John from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The EP was supposed to be re-released at the end of 2023.

@LairoftheAlchemist when the box set came out stephen pearcy said that they were working on a reissue for the ep.
I never knew the You’re In Trouble EP existed. Thanks for sharing. Ratt is one of my favorite bands from the LA scene.
It's funny...I forgot that I even had it and didn't know what it really was till I researched for the video.

The original EP kicked ass
For sure!

….and add Twisted Sister to that list.

Pithey,Riffy,Bouncy,Crosby:)

Love the ratt ep.
So do I

I've gotta' listen to that Metal Massacre version, I've got that album.

I've heard some of the Mikey Ratt stuff and I agree.
Wasn't this supposed to be reissued last year?
Someone else mentioned that in a comment.
Who's better: Ratt or Dokken?
Tough call but if you force me to decide I would say Ratt as their albums are way more consistent.
@@LairoftheAlchemist yes, sir.

That's awesome you saw them in 84. I agree the bass is really loud at times.
never really cared for Ratt
I can understand how someone wouldn't like them, Stephen Pearcy's voice can be a bit annoying at times.
