    I think this video is helpful, not just because of the information, but for people to see that even those that grow a type of orchid really well still have problems sometimes. Helps people not feel like a failure to see a good grower suffering the same issues.

      I couldn't agree more! I am planning on making a video about orchids that are not doing so well and why I think that is and how to let them grow better if I can. Those can be very helpful video's indeed. We all have those plants that are not happy and some never will be. Thank you! :D

    Excellent video, Eelke 👍
    Great info on how to recognize and deal with potentially serious problems. Nice angle on second camera 👍. I do appreciate you showing not only the good but also the bad sides when it comes to growing orchid 🌱.
    I admire your " surgical " skills 😄 .Well done 👏.
    Thank you for sharing 😊🌸.

      Thank you and I still planning that video on orchids that are not doing so well for me. You did ask that a few months ago!... Sorry that I didn't make that video sooner. But it is on the list! :D It's good to learn from mistakes, and learn from things that we can do better etc. :D

      Thank you so much! Sadly the shops (similar shop like a Trader Joe) do not carry them anymore either. Maybe in fall again? Or spring, the usual time that they bloom? Who knows... I do hope so, because I like them SO much LOL... Have a great rest of your weekend and thank you for watching! :D

    Great video eelke, good tip to cut the outer leaves so that the roots can get directly into the media. And not bury the bulbs too deep, also a great tip for me. I tend to bury them too deep. Great first try on the new camera angle 😊. You can see that it’s still new to you but that’s normal seeing it’s your first time using this angle. Looking forward to the next video 😊

    • @TheOrchidSaGa
      @TheOrchidSaGa  10 месяцев назад

      I did bury them to deep as well in the beginning but it doesn't work well for them! I was so afraid that the roots would dry so I kept them to deep for that reason. They like it better when they are just above/on the service of the media. a few pebbles around the bulbs they don't mind, the pebbles do not stay wet to long but keep it humid enough for the new roots. And yes I agree, this setup is very new LOL, but it seems to work! So I hope my video editing skills will improve as well :P

    How wonderful of you to teach me how to use pumice work orchids! And I received my first militonopsis this year as a surprise and had to learn how to take care of it, so thank you for that as well.

    Thank you Eelke for reviewing orange rot. I always discover it too late. I only have 2 barely hanging on Miltoniopsis seedlings. Been struggling since last summer after spider mites chomped them up. I think they are still with me because of your airflow tip. I make sure they have very good airflow from a fan. I will repot them in the pumice setup when they start new roots…if they ever do that is. Again thank you so much! Very helpful video and I look forward to updates.

    • @TheOrchidSaGa
      @TheOrchidSaGa  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! And o boy, the spider mites! They LOVE the Miltoniopsisses... I always have them on mine... But if you do spray them in time, it is not that bad. But they always come back and can set back the plants. And that is not what we need on a Miltoniopsis. I hope they will recover for you. Some take a lot of time but they can recover, don't give up on them too quickly. You never know! A fan helps a lot. I do have mine to close to the plants because than the fan can dry out the leaves to quickly... I know, a lot off work we have to grow them well LOL, but when they bloom, they are worth it! :P

    Great video! Thank you! I have my little tolumnia in self watering, but i think i will change to your method. I love that they're still in inorganic medium even though they're not in self watering. I had mine under grow lights that were too strong, so some of the leaves turned a dark purple. Ive since moved it further from the light. Thanks again for the tips!

    • @TheOrchidSaGa
      @TheOrchidSaGa  8 месяцев назад +1

      Mine did that as well, a bit too purple, too close to the lights! "They say" that it can do no harm, but I do not like that color on the leaves. It doesn't "feel right' for me. I love a nice healthy green color much more! ...

    Nice repot! You will surely save this miltoniopsis , especially with new roots emerging! I sometimes put some Inert plant/aquarium glue on the cuts

      I thought it would make it..sending it to you was a bit too much maybe? Or not enough energy in the back bulbs...Who knows, thanks for trying. It is such a nice big bloom on that cattleya.

      I still have the back bulb so we just wait and see what it still wants to do 😁
