Great hosts and a good scoreboard, pleasant show overall with very strong songs. Almost anyone could have won this year without it being a huge surprise.
That was because Italian audience at that time wasn't interested at all (we have Sanremo)... Infact except for other 2/3 participations in 90s we forgot about Eurovision for 13 years...lol
French in ESC is only still used for the rules etc. I think French should be kept, especially in the voting, so cult phrases like 'douze points' don't get lost :) But the biggest part of the show should indeed stay in English.
"Italy was one of the weakest tonight" a harsh comment but I agree with Terry on that one, cheers for 12 pts Belgium! Turks always seemed to like Yugoslavia didn't they?
+Jack Walker I am a Turk and I agree with you. We used to give full or high marks to Yugoslavia those years. When Yugoslavians collapsed, we started to vote Bosnia and Albania :)
hukuk2004 but they've given you 8 and 10 I believe. Also, the whole Europe voted for Turkey in the 21st century and you decided to leave the contest because you succeeded too well XD
We are not talking about the latest contests. Our issue is the jury votes in earliler ESC's. You mentioned that Yugoslavia and Turkey always gave each other high marks. But look at the 80's voting statistics: In 1981 - 3 points (TR) - 4 points (YU) 1982 - 4 points (TR) - 0 point (YU) 1983 - 12 points (TR) - 0 points (YU) 1984 - 8 points (TR) - 10 points (YU) 1986 - 3 points (TR) - 12 points (YU) 1987 - 12 points (TR) - 0 point (YU) 1988 - 7 points (TR) - 0 point (YU) 1989 - 12 points (TR) - 4 points (YU) 1990 - 12 points (TR) - 7 points (YU) 1991 - 0 point (TR) - 0 point (YU) 1992 - 6 points (TR) - 6 points (YU) We didn't give regular and consistent votes to each other like Greece and Cyprus did :)
@AntonioRI00 Nobody except the French, that is. The reason why they are speaking in French is because French is one of the official languages of the EBU, besides English.
It was most satisfying watching this extremely unsatisfying voting with Wogan's commentary, and I'm by no means a fan of his. Just because he's as baffled by the results as I.
And the voting from the Netherlands resulted in 4 countries getting their first points and leaving behind their 0 points up to then, Turkey 3, Israel 4 (my winner), Greece 5 and Belgium 7.
@justepourvoiruntruc someone in France really does understand english :D every summer I have problems with clients from France who insists on French,I tried to speak with them on spanish, english, polish, italian and german with no result,at the end you must draw it on a paper :)) I don't say that the whole country is like those tourists:( So,what would you say-I'm also stupid? what's with people who understand just their own language [or it's a matter of honour and they don't want to speak eng]
@dasmysteryman12 Yes I know that, but you see nowdays on ESC the hosts usally explain only the rules in French besides in English, and the French is used along with English in the televoting part. Except that English is the only language used during the show. Even the oficial website of ESC is nowdays only in English. But in this video French is used more than English, that's what's weird to me. You must also understand I have been watching ESC for only 6 years.
Yeah Toto's song was supperrior but Azucar Moreno's song at least deserved the second place . Both of them become a world wide hit . The turkish song was undermined by the juries . Listen to it and you will understand .
@@JeSuisRene Nice! Spain is my first choice, then France. If you meant my favorites, though, not just who I wanted to win, then it's Netherlands, Spain and Luxembourg first.
@@Euroviking86 as much as I feel indifferent to the Luxembourgoise entry, here is my top 10 (subject to change) 1. Yugoslavia 2. France 3. Ireland 4. Netherlands 5. Austria 6. Italy 7. Iceland 8. Denmark 9. Germany 10. Spain I also really liked the songs from Sweden, United Kingdom and Cyprus.
Helga was the one who said "I don't have it!" in 1981!
Andrew Tiffin no it wasn't her
Yes it was her
Vatroslav Markus it was Helga, May she rest in peace

True a very strong year
br3menPT and check italian hosts and scorboard in 1991
@@oguzhan4792 i don+t want it...It was a total mess
br3menPT hahaha i was watching my countries votings and i think the same
@@oguzhan4792 eheheh they barely show the scoreboard and the hosts were so confused. Its almost a joke lol
JAJAJAJA SPAIN VOTING
-Thank U very much
- De nada
12 points from Turkey. Yugoslavia💙❤Turkey. Contragulations👌👏👏
Balkan boys :))
I think this was a great contest. Much better organized than italian RAI did next year.
No contest in the history of Eurovision was more poorly organized than the 1991 Italian one.
That was because Italian audience at that time wasn't interested at all (we have Sanremo)... Infact except for other 2/3 participations in 90s we forgot about Eurovision for 13 years...lol
Yugoslavia!!! back when it was in one piece
When voting was a better and more simple way 👌

This scoring is easier to see then the scoring from 1989
But hear me out here, the scoring from 89 gave me eyesores

1990... a year that is good for all world`s countries, except Yugoslavia. pity
Vuk Stevovic the hosts 😏
And the voting from the Netherlands resulted in 4 countries getting their first points and leaving behind their 0 points up to then, Turkey 3, Israel 4 (my winner), Greece 5 and Belgium 7.
5:25 T. Wogan: "Italian entry was one of the weakest of the night." What the hell???
In both 1990 and 1991 Denmark Israel and Norway performed one after the other
In both 89 and 90, Netherlands, Turkey and Belgium performed one after the other inversely, and at the beginning entries both years.
This style of voting would only be seen at OGAE or something similar
@setheurovision94 I meant nobody who watches ESC - the Europeans. In Europe only Swiss, French and Belgians (not including microstates)
As years go by I find Italy more and more worthy winner. Clever lyrics at the correct time.
@AntonioRI00 Nobody except the French, the Swiss, the Canadians and many countries in Africa. So, only tens and millions of people, nobody really...
@euromaitre lol Terry Wogan says that about every country that gives the UK 12 points!
Wow, thx Turkey!!
