I could listen and watch his videos all day.
If you do see this comment Rajiv, thank you for introducing us to ‘The Barn’ it is the most interesting and tranquil place; no wonder it is one of your most favourite places to go ❤

Wow, there is so much beauty in things that are mundane and simple from the sounds of the birds, the smell of the herbs, the light from lamp, sound of the broom against the wooden floor, the sound of water trickling onto the pail and the gently breeze from the window. Thank you for opening that world to me.

I couldn’t help noticing you had a Jean Redpath CD in your box. When I was at primary school (here in Scotland), my teacher took our class out one day to Stirling to meet Jean and hear her sing. Just a small intimate group of Jean and the class. Perhaps my teacher knew her. I don’t think I realised at the time how much a privilege it was, but I do remember the day with such clarity - singing mainly songs by Robert Burns, it was the first time I’d heard a voice resonate powerfully and with such warmth.

My mother had a brass ship's candle that swung so it was always upright. And only beeswax candles were allowed❤ I must admit that I borrowed some when I started making pysanky. I love spending time in your life, it makes me think about mine and take a breath and remember.

I remember visiting Black Creek Pioneer Village and the McMichael Art Collection years and years ago. These two places really had an impact. In grade 3 my teacher had us choose a piece of art at the gallery and copy it with the paper and pencils the attendants provided. I thought it was silly and wandered the halls looking at the enormous and beautiful paintings by the Group of Seven. I settled on a smaller painting of a tree shaped by wind and clinging to the Canadian Shield. Those moments sitting and contemplating and watching craftsmen really had an impact. I've taken my own kids to activities here on the west coast and enrolled them in art and music. Exposure to craft is beautiful and should be promoted. Rajiv really embodies the beauty of creating not just the end result. ❤

Much as I enjoy all your videos, Rajiv, I have to say that this one was one of the most enjoyable for me. I really love the beauty of simplicity, of the beautiful old utilitarian items that used to be in everyday use, and the warmth of old aged wood in a building. The music was exquisite. I enjoyed your singing, and listening to you talk about "ownership." While some chase the dream of "acquiring stuff" I think that the greatest satisfaction and fulfillment comes from creating, sharing, loving, and enjoying the beauty of nature and each other. Thanks for sharing this beautiful spot that you have created.

I have saved a baby squirrel and a crow from hawk! I see owls all the time and in fact I nicely mimic its sound and some other animals sound like lion and hyena🤣🤣🤣.

I too had a similar experience but in my story the owl flew feet first directly at me and turned just before striking me. I was so stunned it was like it happened in slow motion. There was a set of dinner plates that had a beautiful glaze, very earthy with a hint of blue.

I learned about cold frames, spinning wool, looming, drying herbs, cooking in fireplaces, etc. I love wood and just hate plastic. I really enjoyed this episode. However, maybe it is time to own a slower, more enjoyable living in being more rural.

When my father was a boy early 1900s there was no trash collection in rural areas, everything was used up or decomposition took it back to the earth. No synthetic anything. Wood, cotton, silk, glass ceramic, feather etc. I maintain as small of a carbon footprint as possible. It's better!

What a wonderful video Rajiv. The barn is peaceful. Lovely place for meditation. I love my alone time. I have not made any pottery for 30yrs. I still have some pieces. I wish I had a Barn to visit and be myself again. Thank you for sharing.
