Would you like to see "Captain Kronos" resurrected as a series?
Hell yea! There’s a a lot of possibility for the other type of vampires the hunchback explained we never saw.
Can u review Night of the demons 2
Hell to the yeah!
Hey Brandon, how about reviewing "Fist of the North Star" 1986 anime movie?
Check out this manly fight.

Brandon Tenold Dang Brandon reviewing a vampire flick already it’s not even October 🎃 yet
You know, the fact that the siblings mothers wrinkled appearance turned out to be a mask actually makes the fact she spoke without opening her mouth make a lot of sense and is a clever touch.
Fun fact: Lady Durward is played by Benedict Cumberbatch's mother.
Who also had a role on the old "UFO" TV series.
Would she be the lady at 15:07?
No kidding. Huh.
Edit: Looked it up. She also PLAYED his mother in Sherlock. The more you know :/
Also the title monster in The Blood Beast Terror, which Peter Cushing called the worst movie he ever made. Yes, worse than Mystery on Monster Island and At the Earth's Core.
I looked up her credits on IMDB. She was in a LOT of stuff.
apparently it was supposed to be a series, eventually ending with Kronos going toe to toe with Christopher lees dracula in the 1970's
That would've been awesome!
It's a shame Captain Cronos didn't have a crossover with Van Helsing. Definitely expanding the Hammer Cinematic Universe.
Or the Hammer and Nail Universe
Peter Cushing was way too old by then to do that.
wstine79 Ugh that would have been so freaking cool
@RavnDream Really? To me he looked like the Grim Reaper when he played General Tarkin in Star Wars.
@RavnDream I mean that Cushing looked really gaunt and old by Star Wars. He didn't look the same as when he played Van Helsing in Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula.
Mads Mikkelsen would be a dope Kronos for a remake
+adam crowe
I'd watch the shit out of that!
Fluoride Jones you and me both!!
Someone Make this happen, seriously HULU make it happen
I want this so bad.
I pick Dan Stevens
And let's not forget Abraham Lincoln and his enchanted ax.
Passed down from Gimli.
Here's what I don't get, why didn't Quincey Morris ever become a popular character? A tough knife-wielding Texan who hunts supernatural creatures from Stoker's original novel should be a huge hit, and as far as I know there haven't been any graphic novels, video games, movies, etc. about Quincey.
@@robwalsh9843 probably cuz he died at the end of the story. I know that doesn't necessarily stop writers anyway, but still.
@@B3nKen0bi They did stuff where the "bachelor" was a widower and had kids.
@@dubuyajay9964 what's it called?
The blonde haired Simon Belmont on the CastleVania 2 cover had to be inspired by Kronos.
Caroline Munro is definitely reason enough to watch any bad movie.
Most definitely 👍 👌 💯 🙌 😌 👏
Agreed, although I wouldn't call Captain Kronos bad, it's no masterpiece but still a fun watch.
Caroline Munro is a good reason to watch ANY movie, good OR bad! I remember first seeing her as the chopper pilot chasing Roger Moore in the white Lotus! I must have watched the part where she gives him that sexy wink at least a dozen times when I first watched that movie!
@@pypeworld It's certainly better than Star Crash, or whatever that thing was.
this movie isnt even bad.
This is definitely one of those concepts that deserves more praise and recognition.
It needs a remake/reboot
1:18 Really appreciate the acknowledgement of Solomon Kane, very underappreciated Robert E. Howard hero. Very cool of you!
I was gonna post the same thing till I saw your comment, so a LIKE is in order!!
solomon Kane Conan kull And red Sonja All the best characters of Robert E Howard
I would say that Solomon Kane is actually one of Robert E. Howard’s most appreciated heroes, in that people still remember him and write (and film) new stories about him into the modern day. That’s more than I can say for Steve Costigan the sailor or Breckinridge Elkins the mountain man, Howards’s most popular characters in his lifetime.
@@fromthecheapseats7126 Oh, of course, but I'm more talking in general pop culture terms, not from among Howard's work - he's definitely one of the most well known REH creations, I just think he (& REH) should be even more well known. 🙂
Love this movie.
Still waiting on "Sundown; The Vampire in Retreat" with Bruce Campbell.
Wait what? I never heard of this film until now
@@Megatron_95 ALL HAIL....MEGATRON
I haven't seen that movie in probably 30 years. Hell, I saw it before I ever saw the Evil Dead movies!
@MrGonzale09 Yes it's on Amazon Prime in Canada. Saw it there and watched it again. Love the beginning.
What a belting movie this is. Glad to see it reviewed. Can't believe you missed the cameo by the late great Ian Hendry and Cumberbatchs Mum!
Instant like for mentioning the Seven Golden Vampires! Also Toad In The Hole is a sausage cooked inside a Yorkshire pudding, and it's glorious.
In America we don't have Yorkshire pudding...we have to make do with a slice of bread with a hole cut out of it, and it's fried in a pan with an egg cracked into the hole... It's definitely not the same. It's also called a birds nest.
I thought you had Pigs in a Blanket in America? It's the same basic idea. Also, yorkshire pudding is very easy to make. It's just eggs, flour, milk.
As soon as I dragged my mouse over to see a preview of the video, I saw just who I thought it was, Caroline Munro, the "Warrior of Love."
Caroline Munro my first movie crush..had The Spy Who Loved Me VHS watched it so many times as a kid the tape worn out..
I can see why, the zoom in of just her eyes caught me off guard
"ohh..my..."
Oh boy....the wink she gives Rodger Moore from the helicopter....🤩
SUPER RAPE
Toad in the hole- Yorkshire pudding with sausages in it
Or, a short stubby in vag!
Fun fact: The actor of Captain Kronos played in the German version of Sesame Street from 1980 to 84.
cool fact
The actor who played Angel in The Wild Bunch was also a Sesame Street regular
So he WAS on an educational kids show?
Did the German version of Count disappear during that time, by any chance?
Another fantastic video, sir. The "ADRthritis" line friggin killed me.
Toad in the hole. A UK fav, especially if on a tight budget. :)
Ingredients
For the batter
100g plain flour
2 eggs
150ml semi-skimmed milk
For the toad
8 pork sausages
1 onion, finely sliced
1 tbsp vegetable oil
For the gravy
1 onion, finely sliced
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp plain flour
2 tsp English mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 vegetable stock cube, made up to 300ml
I love this movie, and most Hammer films. By the way, Toad in the hole is a sausage in a Yorkshire pudding.
What?
@@dubuyajay9964 It's tasty.
Vampire lore is ludicrously varied and weird, so much so that it's amazing that we ever settled on a 'standard' version of the buggers.
Sparkles?
I always sorta liked the Chinese one that hopped.
But how much of that is because they shoe horn in other creatures into the "vampire" category?
@@licentiousdreams Oh no, that one is DEFINITELY not part of real folklore.
@@scockery A fair bit, I can't lie. But there are a lot of regional varieties which are all dead people that feed on blood, the difference is usually the way they actually feed on said blood, as well as specific odd features, such as only having one nostril, that serve to identify them. Add in both the specific means of killing specific types (though decapitation is a thankfully common solution) and the seemingly limitless ways you can become a vampire, through no fault of your own, and you'll probably realise Bram Stoker did us all a favour by defining a standard.
Ah yes, Hammer the inspiration for D&D's Ravenloft.
7:18 Nah, a "Toad in the hole" would sound like some kind of term for when you hit a par after your golfball lands into a pond or a lake.
Why can't it be both a British sexual term AND a meal?
I'm pretty sure "Toad in the Hole" was in The Joy of Sex.
Yeah I remember that scene from Caddyshack.
Actually, Caroline Munro refused to do nudity....damn it!
Shouldn't that be classified as Crimes Against Humanity, Den Haag where are you?
@@Henrik_Holst Den Haag? The Hague?
@@patbaker399 Yes, Den Haag in native speak. There is where the crimes against humanities tribunal are located.
@@Henrik_Holst Ah, yes...I did know about the tribunals...been about 30 years since I was in Europe so my Dutch/German/Danish is more than a bit rusty.
@@patbaker399 Sorry about that, should probable have written The Hauge since that is the English version.
The villagers attacked more than one at a time, which makes them smarter than 98% of other groups of armed antagonists. Also after awhile, Captain Kronos starts to sound like an off brand Captain Crunch.
Brandon: -Mentions Brotherhood of the Wolf-
Me: Ah yes, Werewolf movie that is actually not a werewolf movie.
Hope that gets a review some day!
I saw Caroline Munro back in March at a screening of Dracula AD 1972. She was so nice. She had her daughters with her and they all sat and watched the movie with us.
After, she did a Q&A on the stage and stayed for drinks in the bar.
So how much like her did they look?
@@marhawkman303 I didn't think they did. My wife said they do but in different ways. Couldn't see it myself.

YES ! YES ! YES !! Saw this as a kid and loved it . Also the movie that led to my appreciation of Caroline Munro .
‘Toad in the hole’ - sausages in a Yorkshire pudding covered in gravy there context. And that was actually a decent impression well done
"Captain Kronos" might not have deserved sequels, but it should have gotten a line of Breakfast Cereals.
Frosted Kron-O's
Krono Krispies?.
As part of the same line as Count Chocula, Frankenberry, & Booberry.
I had no idea this was a thing. Easy to see where later Castlevania games got their inspiration.
Captain Harlock
I was thinking the same freaking thing!!!!
A new Brandon Tenold video on a Tuesday, nice. 🙂
This is actually my favourite Hammer movie, i first saw it as a kid so there is some nostalgia involved but i still enjoy it's quirks a lot. :)
Apparently Hammer horror films were losing popularity at the time so they made this movie to try something different, hoping to appeal to a bigger audience. I think both the 'swashbuckling' and cencored nudity are elements that were meant to attract people who would normally never watch a Hammer horror film.
I went to see this last year in an old church. Caroline Munro was there and did an interview and chatted with everyone. She is still really beautiful and very charming in person
The mystery, the expanding lore, the swordfight.
This movie was the most Ravenloft D&D film ever.
Easily a favorite when I want a dark fantasy film.
Ah, the early 70's, when Hammer was headed towards the R rating, the company's vampires were expanding beyond Christopher Lee, and Caroline Munro's hotness was on the rise like a jet stream of magma about to erupt. Those were the days... and yeah, I could definitely see a series, although I would make it for television, maybe something that HBO could pull off to follow TRUE BLOOD and GAME OF THRONES.
Actually if they remade Kronos I love the idea of a world traveling monster hunter and his hunchback manservant
Man, I was about to stop binge watching your channel and go to bed, then you post this. Well I can't complain, thanks for the upload. And BTW it's 02:15 here in Australia.
I didn't realize that I expected Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee until you said they weren't in this. Then I was disappointed.
Hell yes, saw this as a kid! And yes, Brotherhood of the Wolf rocks, why the hell hasn't Christopher Gans done much of anything since Silent Hill.
Looked around for Brotherhood Of The Wolf on streaming. Nothing. Can't even purchase it for streaming.
Haven't seen that since it came out on video .. late '90s?
CHRISTOPHE (no second R) GANS

This was one of those flicks where I bought it out of a bargain bin based solely n the title and kinda loved it.
I saw this on TV back when I was a kid. That chick was BANGIN’!!!
The closest thing we have to a successor of this movie is the Vampire Hunter D movies and novels.
FUN FACT: Captain Kronos later got a comic adaptation in 2017 by Dan Abnett, as in the guy that's responsible for the huge influx of Warhammer 40k comics like Penitent, First and Only, Horus Rising, etc. It was also published by Titan Comics, most known for their Doctor Who comics... which Abnett wrote a good number of.
I love this movie. I'm old enough to be remember being stuck at the whim of whatever a channel on cable wanted to show at 3am, and one night this came on and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Since then it has become a movie I show to people now and again as a "Ever heard of this?" thing, and people always seem to like it.
Oh wow, cool. It has been ages since you did a Hammer movie.
So glad you did this one. It's always been a favourite of mine and one of the first horror movies i was allowed to watch when i was a kid. I'd love to see a remake of it.
I'm happy to say I had actually seen this movie before, made the review even more enjoyable. Thanks Brandon!
Same with me. I've watched this a few times over the years.
Oh no he mentioned the Witchcraft series, that series never dies! 😳
@Gary Hall I'm currently watching those reviews and man it doesn't deserve any sequels, the first one is a snooze fest but hey it gave us the hilarity that is The Seductress lol.
"Yeah that's right everybody it's Hammer time!"... Can't touch this.
Sorry I had to :P
Toad in the hole is sausages (although its started as scrap pieces of beef) cooked in Yorkshire Pudding batter, its usually served with gravy. The "toad" being the sausage poking out out of the pudding. Great video as always 👍
I can see where D got his fashion sense.
It's funny cause Hideyuki Kikuchi did mention that this movie was a huge influence on his vampire hunter books.

Heya. LOVE your reviews. I grew up watching most of these movies. As I remind my friends, back in the day we were happy just to see someone TRY to show us a dragon. But I was thinking. Back in the 80’s there were a couple of fever dream movies that we watched over and over when the bars were closed. #1 The Forbidden Zone - Richard Elfman, and #2 Doctor Caligari (1989 Stephen Sayadian). They are truly mind bending. They may actually be too far out there on their own, but I am thinking your snark would make them all the better. Thanks for all of your videos.
Gonna watch this before the hurricane hits me because it's worth it

Deserves its cult status. 😎 This film was one of the last films Hammer Productions ever made. 1972.
I suggest "To the Devil a Daughter" as the last film Hammer had some real influence on. 1974 IIRC.

To correct you Brandon, Toad in the Hole is a British Dinner. Well, part of one. It's a Yorkshire pudding (not at all what you're thinking of as pudding America) with a sausage baked into the middle. It's actually really nice with gravy and served with mashed potatoes.
Just keep up the Caroline Munro movies lol
It's Hammer Time. Thank you so much. I had a bit of a high pressured day today, and this was just what I needed.

@@TheRezro Buzz Killington to the rescue!
I watched this movie a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed it. The fights were a little clunky but it was shot beautifully and the acting is subdued rather than just over the top camp that much of hammer had become.
"Toad in the hole" sounds more like a table game, like "Hungry, Hungry Hippos"
A toad in the hole is when you cut a hole in the middle of buttered bread then you fry an egg in the middle.
@obi666 It's both. The British version actually has a wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toad_in_the_hole and you can see the US version here: www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/toad-in-the-hole/
7:18 - close - its a dinner meal - a baes made of flour and egg batter with sausages placed in them [the titular "toad"]
Psychedelic toads were also likely used in the making of this.
I would like to employ their use while viewing. After I watch it too...
YES YES YES!
I have this on DVD. I LOVE this movie!
I have my own plans for this as a series!
You read my mind! I have all kinds of story ideas!
I’m sure he wants to forget The Quickening as well. Also how messed up is your franchise if The Quickening ISN’T the worst film in the series, because Highlander The Source exists?
That's so...horribly true. :(
Sean Connery said he didn't want to do Lord of the Rings because he didn't understand it. If that's his criteria for accepting a role I would love him to explain Highlander 2.
Unfortunately Brian Clemens died in 2015. But he did also create a cult TV series, The Professionals, which still has a strong following to this day.
You don't like pale guardian the hedgehog as an immortal? Oh and in a bondage outfit.
The Source never happened. It was cancelled in production. It was such a shame, too. Especially since now we'll never know what it was going to be... Yep... It... Never... Happened.
Great music in this film!
the movie that likely inspired a LOT of Castlevania
The thumbnail for this episode looks like a really cool cartoon about pirate vampires.
Well, he is only a hunter, not a killer xD

I love your reviews and the humor you throw in...BRAVO!!! Keep 'em coming Brandon!
A minor point from a Yorkshireman: with English counties ending "shire", like Yorkshire, the "shire" part is pronounced "shuh"! "Yohrk-shuh"; "Bark-shuh" (Berkshire)! You get the idea!
British pronunciations are so counter-intuitive that they were very effectively used as a tool for detecting Nazi spies in WW2. Not a single German agent arrived in Britain who wasn't almost immediately found and turned by British intelligence. The Nazis basically provided the UK with an entire disinformation apparatus against Germany.
Also, IIRC, shires were lead by reeves, leading to our modern term "Sherriff" (shire reeve).
The Gumby vampire drains it's victims of all their elasticity, leaving them a bunch of stiffs.
I actually loved this movie. I caught it a few years ago. While it had a low budget, it had a very interesting premise.
Toad in the hole is in fact a British lunch most commonly seen at Easter but it can be eaten at other times its simple pastry surrounding some sausages
Caroline Munro reminds me a lot of one of my childhood crushes: Romina Power, singer and Tyrone Power´s daughter.
As far as I know, Captain Kronos is still on RUclips. I liked it. I feel it the movie was still finding its way and feel a 2nd movie could have done much better as the creators fined-tuned the idea.
At the same time, the Solomon Kane character is criminally underused in film. My only hope is that when the copyright absolutely expires, someone makes good use of the 16-17th century Gothic horror monster hunter from REH in future movies.
Can you review Vincent Price’s Madhouse?
G'day Brandon. Please disregard if it's already been mentioned but I think the barkeep was John Hollis who played Lobot (Lando's assistant) in Empire Strikes Back.
Wow I haven't seen this movie in years. Yes I would love to see this series resurrected, just de-age Caroline Munroe.
Clone her and start series in about 17 years.
She hardly needs de-aging.
I'm on a catching up spree here! Great Episode. I've only seen bits of this movie when it was airing "AMC", you know, when they were actually airing oldies before all of this modern shit. Or was it "TCM", I can't tell. Anyway, even though I haven't seen this movie in its entirety, I can tell by this review that this movie had franchise potential. As you asked in you "pinned" comment, I'd be down for a "Captain Kronos" TV Series, or hell, maybe a movie series.
imagine if Kronos was the reincarnation of the greek god of time
He was a Host on the german Version of Sesame Street for some years. So seeing him is like a little journey back in time for me 🙂
I have this and a bunch of other Hammer classics recorded on VHS from (very) late night TV that I still watch. The downside was you also had to record the commercials. Sometimes I forget to fast forward and will watch a 2 minute long Clapper ad.
But I digress and agree, the vampire really was a much more sustainable problem compared to how many people Kronos killed in such a short time span.
"How about we make a deal withe the vampires for a yearly sacrifice? We could just repopulate, you know?"
"With who? Captain Kronic over there just eliminated half the gene pool."
Heh, nice "Predator" reference.

Cool! Saw this on a double bill with "Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell." Love the bar scene and would love to see it as a series.
"With a name like Kronos he´s either a vampire hunter or the host of an educational kid´s show...."
Nice reference to Kronos actor Horst Janson, who was in fact on the german version of Sesame Street ("Sesamstrasse") for many years.
You don’t mention that the name Kronos was used as a play on chronos, meaning time. This ties in nicely with the vampires method of killing as they are actually stealing time from their victims and time seems to stop during a couple of scenes. On top of that the planned series was supposedly going to involve Kronos travelling through time to defeat different vampires.
