I think the reason why Seungkwan can keep improving in dancing is bcs he has no certain 'habits' like other members have and just absorbs everything that is taught to him as it is.
And for Dino, just seeing him in any members' dance video / dance lessons just speak how is he in the 1st place to me

Seungkwan has shortened achilles tendons that make him unable to squat or sit cross-legged (not enough flexibility in the pelvis), as well as multiple ankle injuries over the years. I'm so incredibly proud of him as a dancer, not only bc of those physical difficulties, but as a main vocalist, he is the one least expected to dance well. To put in the time and effort to improve like this really speaks to his work ethic and how much dance means to him.

i'm so happy that Dino is 1st. he's so underrated for being one of the best dancers in kpop. i think why many people put Hoshi 1st is because of his stage presence. i can say that Hoshi is the best performer in Svt, but Dino is the best dancer. just hope people don't sleep on Dino's talents cuz that boy is talented.

As a dancer and a Carat of 8yrs, I am always surprised when ppl rank Hoshi as no.1 because I have always thought Dino was very obviously a better dancer. But I see ppl consistently rank him No.1 idk why. I think Woozi and Hoshi used to be in a similar stage in technique during their debut but Woozi didn't develop nearly as much as Hoshi did. Seungkwan has surprised me with his improvement during HOT, Super and GOM era.. I was blown away if I am being honest. His execution or at least the way he wants to execute steps seem to be similar to Dino's. I am not sure if they learn or practice together but Dino's Danceology with Seungkwan esp made me feel this way.

So to see Seungkwan taking after Dino in terms of style and having an easier time to dance in Dinos style (Like in Flower (Dinos Choreography) and Dinos Dancology) doesn't surprise me.

I think most of that is carats fault bc they don't talk about dino dancing much. Instead they focus on things like how he is the maknae with the hardest life or other jokes. 1 example is in the behind of 1 dance practice where dino had a solo part in the dance break a lot of the comments weren't actually praising his dance (which was honestly like 1 of the best I'd seen and which made him my ult) but instead focused on his hyungs showing their support with most comments being along the lines of "seventeen=dino+dino fanclub"

I'm always amazed at how well Woozi dances considering the fact that he puts most of his time and energy into producing. He doesn't have as much time to focus on his dancing as the other members yet he's one of the best in the group. I've always felt bad for him though, he has so much on his plate. The weight on his shoulders was and is huge, especially during Seventeen's early days.

    • @lightworthy
      @lightworthy Год назад +17

this part! especially since for years he stated he didn't want to/just didn't dance much outside of practice for choreo, so he essentially never really trained his dancing aside from that. you can really tell when he started dancing to train and for fun again, since his abilities in more recent choreos have vastly improved when he was already quite good even when regressing certain skills since debut. he's very very often opposite Hoshi in choreos for a reason, he can match that energy and style with ease to balance each side. I love seeing people actually recognize WHY he was nearly in perf unit, and why he damn near still could be. him, hoshi, and dino have always been my personal favourite dancers because of their style

This video put into words shit that me as an uncoordinated person doesn’t quite know how to say, nice job in finding clips that supported all your points. I think that Dino is the best dancer in svt if you evaluate them based on technique, execution and consistency. I like to describe the dance line via the 4 elements: the8 is like wind, he flies through the air, and just feels light. Jun is water, he just moves fluidly but seems more restricted than the8. The best way to describe it is like fluid fits the shape of the container its in. Hoshi is like fire, flashy and eye catching. The colour of the flame changes approaching the center of it. Dino reminds me of earth, his moves just feel very grounded, his style is powerful but focused and precise.

Finally a video that ranks Dino as No. 1. As someone who learns dance and has been watching idols dancing for the past 12 years, Dino is one of the best if not the best in the industry.
It was truly a privilege to watch him perform live at Follow to Bangkok. The stadium was huge and I was on the second floor, so I couldn’t see the members well because I was so far away. It was hard to spot anyone as there were so many members and backup dancers on stage. But I just had to find the one with the most impactful dance and checking with my binoculars, that was indeed Dino.

Something else that's impressive about Seungkwan is his ability to improvise when he is asked to. He seems like a very safe pair of hands across the board.
Jun is an interesting one. He is most eye catching to me when the group dances, he has dramatic flair, big moves. I see him as the only member with a theatrical kind of style. But he does also have a stiffness to him. I remember reading he had muscular tuberculosis as a teenager, I hadn't put 2 and 2 together and realized it probably left him with weakness. I believe Seungkwan also has some kind of physical issue. But that they all have different things going on yet still look very cohesive as a group is really cool.

hi. honestly, it's sooooo difficult to rank seventeen cause there are choreos that looks good in certain members. people would think this person is the best because of this dance but then when you see another dance, another does it better. so i guess, it all comes down to who has the least bad habits in dancing. and I agree it's dino. though the other midranked dancers here can change their ranking over time depending on who decides to sharpen and hone their dancing skills more.

Even though I love that woozi ended up in the vocal unit and I that he's really busy because of his producer role, I really wonder how he would have improved if he was in performance unit or if he had more time to practice and dance (cause he does seem to want to do it just for fun in his free time too). Ive seen some people say he lack precision and control when it comes to his arms, do you agree?

He loves to dance, but it’s also his job which he takes seriously and is very hard on himself too. For me Dino and The8 just have dance in their VEINS. Both incredibly different to each other but their PASSION is their work, which is a very big difference. Idk how to explain it! I think Dinos Danceology and The8’s contemporary art proofs my point a little bit. Whilst Hoshi spider was INCREDIBLY fun, but does not have the feels like the other two!

i would have watched an hour long video of this tbh!
i’m pleased to see seungkwan and dino ranked where they should be mwahaha. dino, a balanced dancer, seungkwan seemingly learning from him…
i feel like jeonghan would really benefit from knowing he could use his energy in a better way :/he’s one of my favourites to watch despite not being at the top.
it’s amazing that woozi and seungkwan are that good for people who have to focus on doing their main job (in which they’re standouts in the industry) in the group. especially woozi i always felt bad that he couldn’t spend more time dancing.
i assumed minghao just lacked stamina and that’s why he couldn’t exert a lot of power on stage, but who knows. and his strengths don’t translate too well to what people recognize as good bg choreo dancing. i always enjoy him the most once it gets more groove centric.
i was happy when wonwoo decided to build more muscle in his body cause i think that helped.

Love your work as always!! Shout out to Seungkwan's growth, he really has been impressive these days. I think I would've swapped Coups with DK because even in the clip at 6:40 I couldn't stop watching him haha! excellent video as always, I really appreciate your objectiveness in these matters; most carats are unwilling to admit that the five most popular and conventionally attractive members are kinda weak dancers.
I love to see Vernon, Seungkwan, and Woozi in the top-half of the ranking, it’s very well-deserved. Vernon has always been an underrated dancer and Seungkwan has improved so much and is really nice to watch. I knew what Woozi’s weakness would be before you even got to that part: his hips can be quite stiff in certain choreos. But I think it’s so impressive that he maintains such a high level of dancing considering how busy he is with the song-writing and production side of svt. Imagine how good he could be if he really dedicated time to dancing.
I was initially shocked to see Jun so low, but I think your explanation makes sense. There are some moves he does that are so nice, but I agree that injuries have limited his ability.
And lastly, extremely well-deserved first place for Dino! I’ve always quietly felt that he was the best dancer in seventeen but he’s not one of the popular members so it’s not a popular opinion… even with stage presence, I feel like he’s equal to Hoshi; on top of his skills, his facial expressions are also so good. There are certain moves in ‘Wait’ that really only look good when Dino does it.
    Cheers!

    • @fiveh3340
      @fiveh3340 11 месяцев назад +1

@@TheJuxtaposer I mean... stage presence actually does have meaning and Scoups definitely has it. For the others, yes some people take their looks as good enough stage presence but I have seen non-Carats ranking their stage presence and most of the four float in the middle in those rankings, with Scoups being one of the highest.
and about the Dino point, it's partly because Hoshi is popular, and partly because he WAS the best dancer up until Dino overtook him and people didn't let that go. Another part of it is because people think Hoshi has better "stage presence". In my opinion, Hoshi is a better idol dancer but Dino is a better DANCER dancer overall.
I'm sorry if it seems like I'm taking a dig at you but you seem awfully mad at the four (or five, as you say) most popular ones?

i completely agree with the 1st. i've always thought that along w hoshi, dino is a main dancer. hoshi is an excellent dancer, as mentioned in the video, he has this eye-catching technique which makes people think that he is the best at one look. he dances with a lot of power. he reminds me of a girl from my dance class, she isnt the best dancer yet shes the most eye catching one. while dino, i'd say its the way he emphasizes every move. from powerful to soft. he expresses the steps so well and make them lively. i'm not saying hoshi doesn't make the dance lively.

one of the things that drew me to Seventeen is how if you focus on watching each individual member, you can easily see their styles and where they're most comfortable, but when watching the performance as a whole, not a single person ever seems off, out of place, or in an incorrect shape. hell, they have two members with more than half a foot of height difference and neither one of them ever truly stands out in their shapes or timing even though they realistically SHOULD due to this, especially in split second fast move alterations.
personally, my favourite dancers are Woozi, Hoshi, and Dino, and I'm so happy to see Woozi recently dancing a lot more outside of just work than he used to, it really shows in more recent choreos. I always wonder what could've been for him as a dancer had he had more time to train dancing past their debut/early years, I personally think he could've been their best if not just under DIno. I definitely agree with your assessment of Dino & Hoshi, while Hoshi is the more entertaining performer, there's just an extra... calmness to Dino's even more explosive moves, like he's barely trying and still managing to shatter the earth. but in KPOP, Hoshi's style definitely works better in the scene, so I see why so many list him as the best

I'll admite I was shocked for a few of them. I really enjoy watching Jeonghan dance (i guess not as much for earlier videos because i saw what you meant in terms of his dynamic moves). So I was genuinely surprised Jeonghan was as low as he was.
Jun's ranking truly shocked me, I didn't expect that at all tbh. I do see what you pointed out and I think it makes sense. As someone who is Jun biased and loves his dancing, I can recognize that there are details I would miss as a non-dancer that affect his overall technique.
Vernon shocked me in a pleasant way! I've always recognized he was a good dancer but never recognized that he was as good as you ranked him here. His relaxed style matches his personality and he is very pleasing to watch so I was happy to see him so high. Seungkwan's ranking also made me incredibly happy.
Obviously when you're ranking 13 people, everyone has to be somewhere in the rank. can't be too upset when not everyone can be 1st or 2nd.
Thank you so much for the analysis and allowing me to appreciate Seventeen's dancing even more. Considering how different they all are from each other, it truly is phenomenal how synced Svt are in their choreos.

I had asked for this on a separate video and ahhh thank you so much! I love how detailed you are and look at different techniques from different lenses. Was I surprised by this ranking? Yes, but I get why you ranked them the way you did. Much love

I’m surprised dk wasn’t higher as although he’s not in the performance unit he’s often used for dance projects and stuff alongside the performance unit. Maybe it’s more his stage presence because my eyes really follow him but idk much about techniques

The 5-8 places are a bit interchangeable depending on the choreo, a couple of years ago I probably would've put Dk higher

I always saw Dino in second when it comes to Seventeen Dance Ranking.. He is really a great dancer ❤

i expected joshua to be the last in ranking tbh, i didnt notice how much wonwoo lacks in fluidity 🤧 i really aprecciate your work!!!
and i think that hoshi makes the movements highly incomprehensibles, specifcly in dances with many quick figures, i dont know if thats a good habit or not, but i avoid following hoshi's dances when it comes learning seventeen's choreos 😅

I also expected Joshua to come last then Wonwoo, maybe because Joshua's bad habits while dancing are more noticeable? And Wonwoo is pretty darn good at some certain types of dancing

@@fifihaven i'll go with dokeyom, dino, jeonghan or seungkwan, and sometimes avoid hoshi, seungcheol and woozi because their movements are not that clear

@@leeann7291 yesss, joshua has always this neck and shoulder tension and cant control very well those parts of his body

@@dokyme7Ah, that makes sense. I also notice that Seungkwan's dance style is pretty similar to Dino's, probably because he used to learn a lot of basic dance moves from Dino, if we take a look at their predebut clips.
