Victory screen ideas: 1. Zelda puts her hands close together and conjures a small ball of light magic between them. She focuses on it before letting it burst in a firework-like shower of light, a small smile on her face at the party trick. 2. Zelda summons a Memory Phantom and begins intently studying the apparition, looking over the individual segments and designs with a mixture of joyous curiousity and deep concentration. 3. Purah Pad in hand, Zelda lifts it up to her face and takes pictures of unseen subjects off-screen. Realising the situation though, she lowers it down and blushes, squeaking out "Forgive me" for her excitement getting the better of her. Bonus victory quotes: Link: "Remember Link. There's a fine line between courage and recklessness." Ganondorf: "I will never let you claim Hyrule!" Sheik: "You honour the Sheikah well." Young/Toon Link: "Oh dear! Did I do this to you Link?" (Mistakenly thinks her Recall caused Link to become Young/Toon) Rauru: "My apologies Rauru, but I claim this victory."
I think there should be an alternate costume that has her long-hair look from Breath of the Wild for those who prefer it. Her short-hair look in Tears of the Kingdom is an important visual cue to represent her development, but I think the option of using her old look would be nice. Bayonetta has her look from her first game, yet the default look used in marketing for Smash 4/Ultimate showed her appearance in Bayonetta 2 which was her latest game at the time. Zelda should get the same treatment in my opinion.
You know, I do love Sakurai and his work, but it ALWAYS bothered me, how he went "In BotW Zelda is more into research than fighting, hence why we took her design from Link to the Past/Between Worlds", AS IF THAT ZELDA IS KNOWN FOR FIGHTING???
Excellent job on this. I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but what I love the most about your Remake It! movesets are how you try to strike a good balance of invoking new elements to better embody the character themselves while retaining the good of what made their Smash counterpart who they are. A lot of fan movesets usually discard the latter and completely overall a character purely for the sake of additional fan service, but I love how you try to respect their Smash past and not make changes that are too alienating for people who're used to their movesets.
As a Zelda main an huge LoZ fan, I really like this. I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of the past Zelda moves, but you still implemented them well. I love the ideas behind the specials and how they all work together. Great moveset!
This version feels like a Rivals of Aether character with her huge emphasis on stage control and planning, which I think fits the Triforce of Wisdom wielder. I believe that aspect is essential and is left out of her current moveset, which is kinda spammy.
Zelda’s entire gameplan is based around stage control, what do you mean it’s left out??? It’s a lot more simple than what’s proposed here but her gameplan kind of revolves around phantom which is still a stage control and setup move. These changes give more variety to HOW she controls the stage but it was definitely always part of her design.
@@CaptBlock I mean it doesn’t have directly coded interactions like what is proposed in this video and while I think those would be cool and better, phantom is definitely more interesting than a standard charged projectile just by virtue of having a delay. That alone gives it some interaction potential with the rest of her moveset (e.g. something simple you can do is set a phantom on ledge and go offstage with up b 1 to knock them up into it. Those sorts of setups are impossible with charge shot, shadow ball, etc.)
A little tidbit I want to add to the neutral special: the projectile follows the _original path_ of the projectile, as well any properties/modifications that affected it. Things like items that fall off of ledges would jump back up. Previously reflected projectiles follow the path they took as they were reflected. I was originally thinking of Recall as a special counter tailored to projectiles, but I still like how it was executed here too.
I'm one of the few Zelda mains out there. I've been playing her since 2015. Zelda, specifically Smash Zelda, means a whole lot to me, and I think you absolutely did her justice. Thank you for keeping the sweet spots on the Fair and Bair and ESPECIALLY giving her cool new Phantom tricks (along with Rewind and Arrow tricks too!) As much as I already miss Din's Fire, I'd still play the hell out of this take on Zelda. Good stuff!
To be fair, Twilight Princess, and by extension Zelda, was designed to be an Ocarina remake in early stages. So Sheik in Brawl... is actually based on her unused model from TP. That's why her moveset was kept the same. Aside from like... keeping it the same for the engine.
As a Zelda main, I think you did a splendid job updating her kit here. Very fitting but still recognisably her. Also you kept the lightning kick of death so instant respect.
I do definitely think Zelda’s design will be updated to her TotK design since Link is already using a Wild Era design & Ganondorf’s is too popular to ignore. That said, I still feel like they could keep the ideas of the old specials with the excuse of drawing power from the dragons of this Zelda variant’s Hyrule (as well as Recall for her Up B). But I do like the ideas you brought forward to more heavily rework the character.
As one of the rare people who have mained Zelda since Melee (and yes, I mean fully without using Sheik) you did an absolutely phenomenal job embodying her! You kept the core elements of her moveset while expanding upon it to give her the boost she so needed without breaking her!
When it comes to Zelda's current moveset, I never agreed with the notion that it was "outdated" or really a problem, since given her character being the mortal reincarnation of Hylia herself it would make sense for her to use the three golden goddesses in her moveset. It's literally become part of her character now. That being said, they should revamped to function differently (minus Farore's Wind), I also find it weird that light isn't associated with her moveset despite it being her most ironic attribute, I think Light Ball should replace Dins (I don't they all of them should be on the same button, as UAir could just be Dins) since she could charge up a ball of light energy that stuns opponents and launches them far when the stun ends, for a slow character having a move that halts momentum is key and fits with Zelda's "wise" nature, she'd naturally want to find a way around someone's character.
I do think there could be more references to pre-BotW Zeldas, but besides that, I really like how cohesive this moveset is. And those smash attacks are actually similar to an idea I had, though it was for Ganondorf rather than Zelda (darkness or malice/gloom forming the Spaceworld sword for forward smash, trident for up smash, and Wind Waker swords for down smash).
There are 3 candidates for the next moveset remake: 2 have A-tier moveset designs, 1 has a D-tier design. And looking at and judging by this... I am 100% betting on the D-tier (Jigglypuff)
Those special ms make this feel more like a Rivals of Aether moveset than a Smash moveset and I’m ALL for it! Smash needs more unique mechanics for it’s characters.
This is so epic man, I love these character remake videos, they always make me wanna play these reimagined characters cuz you do such a great job of explaining & showing how everything would work along with keeping the iconic parts of how the characters currently work! 👏👏👏
I feel like BotW/TofK's Zelda should have her own character slot. There's already three Links so why not multiple Zeldas too? "Classic" Zelda, BotW/TofK Zelda, and Tetra/Toon Zelda would be cool too.
Smash 6 is probably gonna scale things back to a considerable level, so multiple Zelda variants isn’t reasonable to expect. Hell, Young & Toon Link are likely goners for Smash 6.
I've played Zelda a lot in Smash, so I'm all for a chronomancer revamp. The most genius idea is using those time-based powers to pay homage to the character's legacy. Even better and more creative than the alternate costume idea I always thought about of having other Zeldas take up some colour slots. And man, how much she changed since Ultimate released nearly 6 years ago.
Zelda main, 2nd comment after watching and I LOVE this concept for her! Her specials are so inspired and sound like they would take actual brains to use effectively, more so than her current loadout. This is another one of those "sounds so fun I wish it were real just to try it" concepts, great stuff
If you do Peach.... well, not sure if this will have an influence on things, but I always sorts viewed Peach as someone that was powerful, but... slow-witted. She's smart, but... just not high reaction time unless empowered by something else. Which honestly fits with a ruler. I mean, sure, she's taken part in sports, but those often include simple actions to focus upon. She definitely has powerful magics. Some games showcase this more than others. They're just often not highly specialized towards combat. Heck, some games have them as sealing/unsealing magic. I mean, she did create the hidden room she frequented in N64's version. Then again, I'm guessing there's a decent chance of also including things from Peach Showtime. Though, most of the gameplay there were her being empowered by another. Same goes for super princess peach, now that I think about it. ....honestly, I have no idea how you'd revamp her specifically. There's many pathways to take her moveset in. And to do so in such a way that feels true to her character? That is HARD.o_O Best of luck.
Alternate Non-Cinematic Final Smash: Zelda concentrates her sealing magic and command grabs an enemy, and makes a giant Botw-like ball of light to multihit the enemy, and any other fighters who enter the seal as the ball grows over time. After about 5 seconds, the ball implodes upon itself and the fighters trapped within are spiked downward, or disappear completely if at a high enough percent. Cuz holy crap that ending was crazy
As a former Zelda player, while I would've liked to see more variety in her normals (her precise aerials especially I've always had a very hard time landing), I really like your new specials and how much they interact and open up new possibilities. A small criticism, the light yellow text at 3:00 and onward is very difficult to read against a white background; a dark outline would help readability if you use light text colors in the future.
As many competitive Smash players know, Zelda has had a sad history where she finds herself among the worst fighters in the roster. Hopefully, some meaningful changes and buffs can finally make her at least good enough in competitive play. Well done on another Remake It episode, Delzethin.
My preferred Zelda moveset (and Link fore that matter) is a composite version where Zelda has all abilities from her past lives. Her sword from TP, Toon Zelda's phantoms, her runes from the Sheikah Slate, etc. Up B and Final Smash are fine as is, but a moveset like this can actually use different Zeldas as skins instead of just palette swaps.
Ya I’m not really a fan of “TotK Zelda, but a sword and Phantom”. She’s so different it might as well just be a 2nd Zelda. I mean we have 3 Link’s and they’re barely different, so why not 2 Zelda’s?
I’m a Zelda main and my god I love this new move set. I like the current one and TOTK obviouslt didn’t exist at the time but if they make a smash 6 (which idk about), I NEED this to be her move set.
ooh, this moveset is good. though something I noticed is that this adds a bit of a weakness to Zelda: it drastically increases her learning curve. particularly with those specials, a player would need to figure out how each special works at first in order to properly use Zelda.
This is a fun update, though, I'm gonna be honest, talking about this Zelda being smart when she is one of the least wise Zelda's canonically, is pretty funny to me. I mean, she shows almost zero acts of wisdom in her 2 games aside from sending Link to the Shrine of Ressurection while she went to seal Ganondorf. Aside from that, she almost only ever made mistakes and her sacrifice in Tears is basically a non-choice she was forced to make as a consequence of her (and Rauru's) leadership failures. Her plan to catch the fake Zelda is even what got Sonya killed and let Ganondorf get his hands on the secret stone. So it's pretty funny to me to claim this version of her is particularly wise. The height thing is also funny cause this isn't a particularly tall version of Zelda and few, if any, versions of Zelda have been so young they'd still be growing, as most women stop growing pretty quickly after reaching puberty, done by their early to mid teens.
zelda’s alts should better than that, they should alternate between Outfits & Dresses, 4 with long hair & 4 with short hair: Alt1 modern totk outfit w/ short hair Alt2 ancient totk dress w/ short hair Alt3 modern botw outfit w/ long hair Alt4 white botw dress w/ long hair Alt5 snow botw outfit w/ long hair Alt6 royal botw dress w/ long hair Alt7 Green recolor of Alt1 (Link) Alt8 Purple recolor of Alt2 (Zelda) maybe in one of her Taunts she would either pull out the Purah Pad or Sheikah Slate depending on which alt and taking a picture or tinkering with it
With this reworked moveset. I wonder how you would redo your Ganondorf rework now that TOTK is out, and Ganondorf has quite a few new powers that would be quite interesting to see in a playable format. Especially with his new ability to turn into the Demon Dragon.
Link or Peach. Jigglypuff does NOT need a rework. Even after the addition of the fairy typing, she has very few actual fairy moves and everything about her current moveset was designed to play into her joke character status
I was thinking Zelda's specials using the Champions' abilities like Daruk's Shield as her neutral special, Revali's Gale as her up special, Urbosa's Fury as her side special, and summoning Mineru as her down special (because I can't find a place to put Mipha's Grace anywhere).
Great idea, but do we really need both Link and Zelda to take on their BOTW/TOTK design? I feel like Zelda is mostly fine as is, with some tiny adjustments.
Ganondorf's almost certainly gonna be switched over to his TotK design, it's too popular not to. So at that point, Zelda would stick out like a sore thumb if she wasn't also switched over.
@@Neoxon619 It'd be a shame. I like Ultimate's approach of giving each character designs from different games. Making all characters BOTW/TOTK inspired would ignore all other games in the series.
@@Neoxon619He’s gonna be outdated not long after the new Smash comes out anyway. Some updates make sense, but making them all BotW/TotK designs when they’re done with that era already doesn’t make sense. That, and people have been asking for OoT Ganondorf with a proper moveset for years. We may not have gotten that overhaul, but they definitely listened somewhat by giving us his OoT design and (some) changes, by giving him his sword. It’s the one Nintendo series that changes drastically between games. Staying up-to-date completely isn’t necessary because it’s so drastic. It’s not like Mario where you could change one or two things to keep him up-to-date without needing a complete overhaul nearly every game. It’s consistent. Plus, visually, it’s just boring to have them all the same. People loved how the different eras were represented rather than just one.
@@amadeus.7436 That decision was born from a compromise of the whole trio not having been in a game together since Twilight Princess at the time Ultimate's roster was decided & BotW was shaping up to be too big to ignore. Now that all 3 are in TotK, the "Zelda characters from multiple eras" thing isn't needed anymore.
@@mrshmuga9 To address your points... 1. Smash 6's has likely already locked in its base roster & is in active development as we speak, plus it'll be 4-5 years before we get the next 3D Zelda game anyway. TotK will remain current for a good long while. And I wouldn't underestimate how beloved TotK Ganondorf is in the community. 2. Like I said to Amadeus, the multiple eras of Zelda thing was born from a compromise. That compromise being the Triforce Trio not being all in the same game together since Twilight Princess as of Late 2015. But now that they're all in TotK, the compromise is no longer necessary. Not to mention that the BotW/TotK era of Zelda *IS* Zelda to most people these days anyway.
That was bold claim that Zelda’s light dragon form is the strongest form any Zelda has taken when it just isn’t since Skyward Sword Zelda is literally just Hylia but actually killable. But uhm *nervously looks at Hylia’s feats* good luck with that.
I'm conflicted... On paper this sounds and looks cool and I would have fun with it... But the starting idea, reworking smash Zelda into Wild Zelda is something I have a very hard time getting behind. Not that I dislike her but it falls right into what I dislike the most about the Zelda Fighters: the fact they flip flop between designs. From Smash 1 to Melee, we got the OOT/Majora main cast because these were the most recent Zelda games at the time make sense. Brawl & SSB4 used Twilight Princess it was the most recent game for the former and because Ganondorf wasn't in Skyward Sword in the latter make sense, but they also bended the rule by adding Toon Link but they never truly commited. And now with lack of zelda newcomers in SSBU, they had to compensate by making all the returning veterans from a different zelda games. To me it's a highlight the strategy of making the latest Zelda characters from the latest Zelda game was a mistake and I feel Smash should just create their own take on on the triforce wielders as an anchor point. I don't mind using design Ideas from her, but I have enough of smash reskining these characters on and on, this is just a waste of the developpers time. And same goes with most of the new attacks actually. I kind understand why people would find them dated, but I don't like how the OOT magic powers are gone. I know most of those reworked specials are the same in function, but I can't help but find wrong removing them entirely, partially because again, this feels like a rework just to make smash Zelda be based of Wild Zelda. Maybe the best I can propose is have a few visual nod to them ? Like have Nayru's Protection as a perfect shield animation ? Have the same wind effects of Farore's Wind in a double jump ? Which leaves Din's Fire and I don't know where we could put it anymore because of much this moveset is now geared toward that. Maybe replacing the Cutlass down smash and turn into a ring of fire, reminescent of original Din's Fire animation in OOT ? Or getting rid of the broken Mastersword attacks, bringing back the kick but make them create explosions of fire instead ? But then making it the only Fire attaque of the moveset feel like the odd ones out. I guess in the end it's a question of perspective. I know people would love an approach like but I really feel this is an overcorrection and more like a sidegrade. Same way I feel about Byleth's current moveset too. It's built so much as a way to address a critiscism that it kind of feels unfaitful and unreprsentative in way.
I have an idea for a new mechanic for the next Smash Bros. game: SECONDARY SPECIAL ATTACKS, or as I would call them: Advanced Attacks. As the people may know, there are 2 buttons used for jumping: Y and X. For a game like this, the Y button should've done something more. We need more special attacks for certain situations. Heck, they could also have them be nods to the characters themselves. Example 1: Link Neutral Y: Rune (Press to use, hold to swap. Certain runes can be used here) (Ascend, Recall, Cryosis) Side Y: Spinner/Hookshot (When used on the ground, Link will spawn in the Spinner to move around faster and deal damage as he goes. If used in the air, Link will use the Hookshot to grapple to any surface to jump off, grab a far ledge, or even an opponent) Up Y: Paraglider (A small gush of wind spawns under Link's boots and sends him flying into the sky, and then follows it up with a paraglider use. The player can manually and casually put away and pull out the paraglider for better landing too) Down Y: Construct (Press to get 1 of the 3 randomly selected constructs and hold to get 1 of the randomly selected constructs. Constructs can be destroyed or disappear after a few seconds. There's also a cooldown for the said constructs too) (Turent, Homing Tank, Hover Turent) Example 2: Banjo-Kazooie Neutral Y: Wing Whack (This attack functions like Meta Knight's Neutral B, but it's a parry move. It can't make Banjo or Kazooie to levitate) Side Y: Beak Saw (An original move for smash bros. This ability allows Kazooie to use a special move for traversing the stage faster and cause some damage. Can even be charged up for more damage. If used in the air, the amount of distance is halved) Up Y: Flight Pad (Functions like Banjo and Kazooie's Up B, but it allows the two to fly forwards. The move can also turn around too. There are also more special functions too. A = Egg Shot, B = Beak Bomb, and Y = Glide (Glide slows the flying down for more percice landing). Press down to deactivate flight mode) Down Y: Drill Beak (On the ground, Kazooie will rapidly start to spin so fast, her beak becomes a drill and deals damage above. This deals small amounts of flinching damage at best. If used in the sky, Banjo and Kazooie will both fall down at a rapid speed and spike anyone who Kazooie first lands on)
Whoever wins the next remake poll, all I want is: Jigglypuff- Twinkle Tackle being its new final smash Link- uses his glider asan up special instead of an entrance animation
I think Link could use his glider as a triple jump, with his own stamina bar and everything. But please, I've been asking this since Brawl, specially now that Fuse is a thing, I hope you can fuse a bomb with an arrow by charging an arrow while holding a bomb. Also, one thing that I would do in the next Smash is to replace all counters with something else, but any character that had a counter, would activate it by perfect shielding (so Shulk's Vision, for example, would now be a Perfect Shield instead of a Down+B). In Link's case, he could do a Flurry Rush when perfect shielding.
Ngl, not a fan. I don't think there's really anything wrong representation wise regarding Zelda in Smash and she kinda loses way more than she gains. She really doesn't need a BotW/TotK redesign
But the thing is, it’s probably going to happen anyway (at least in terms of her visual design). Link already has his BotW design, & Ganondorf’s TotK design is so beloved that I’d be shocked if they don’t switch to it for Smash 6. At that point, there’s really no reason for Zelda to be the odd one out (especially since the Wild era’s Zelda variant is now a proven fighter).
Dude getting rid of the purple electric sparkles in her basic attacks and replacing them with holy light is something I’ve been talking about for ages I’m glad I’m not the only one
As some who doesn't play a lot of Zelda, but really doesn't like fighting her, I'm interested to see what you've got for her. Hopefully something that will keep her out of bottom tier. Thoughts: Recall and Time Arrow seem like the big highlights here, the former for being a seemingly less annoying version of her old Neutral-B that allows for interesting interactions, and the later for just being a cool projectile that reminds me of traditional fighting games.
What would be really interesting for the master sword moves is that they stale in reverse, getting slightly stronger every time they’re used as if she’s still repairing it as the fight goes on.
I really Love the a link between worlds Zelda thats my favorite design so I'm kinda bummed u scrapped it especially since TOTK zelda i find a little grating lol. It just has so much charisma. but i think your moveset is pretty great I like how you made it more technical and smart i guess.
My idea for Zelda was to utilize the magic from a link to the past and between worlds since Links moveset doesnt bother using any of his magic I thought to just to have Zelda adopt those tools like Rosalina does with galaxies moves. I gave Zelda the Fire and Ice Rods for her neutral and side special. that would function similarly to LBW. a flame pillar that would travel across the stage and trap foes and pillars of Ice that were great for edge guards like Soras lightning but those would be the charged variants when uncharged they would be fairly standard but the fire could linger for a bit as a trap like in Zelda 1 and the ice could lower your opponents speed making them easier to handle. she would keep the phantom since its such a strong tool and I thought about makeing the phantoms slash stronger if it interacts with the fire rods flames. and for her up special I gave her the cane of Somaria. she could make a platform for herself if on the air or if on stage could use it as a block for more stage control strategies. opponents would have to interact with the block kinda like steves blocks but only one of them. and in that time zelda could make her move but the risk is that you cant use it to recover if its on the ground so you have to destroy it which you could only do on the ground. And i thought about even making some of Zeldas Smash attacks the Medalians from ALTTP if charged kinda like how your black mage move set does. Its pretty messy but if u get the chance. tell me what u think whether its negative or positive. I tried to make the design somewhat cohesive. I wonder if theres a way to make Zelda a high performing character and still be true to the calculating defensive play style.
The issue is that with Link using a Wild era design & Ganondorf almost certainly following suit, it'd be weird if Zelda was the sole exception. The whole "Zelda characters from different eras" thing was born from a compromise of the Triforce Trio not all being in the same game together since TP & BotW being too big to ignore. That's no longer an issue now.
Some ideas: Visual Design: The Royal Dress from BotW, but slimmed down akin to the thinner fabric of the TP dress. Toolkit: Bow of Light, Recall, Nayru's Love, and Bind/Reverse Bind. She also has the twirl thing from EoW as an attack. Zelda's Neutral Special, Nayru's Love, is replaced with the Bow of Light, functioning similar to Link's Bow, but with more pushy/stunning effect instead of knockback potential. Think of it like a mix between ZSSamus' Paralyzer Gun and the Gust Bellows item. Her down special is Recall, and serves as a reflector. It can't counter physical attacks, but its effect on Time CAN soften the blow. Nayru's Love is changed to be Zelda's Shield. Side Special: she may use the Legend of Zelda 1 Title Screen Rapier for an attack similar to Marth and Lucina's standard specials. Side Smash: Zelda uses the Zelda 1 Rapier for a rapid poking attack, similar to one of her attacks in Hyrule Warriors. Zelda's Dash Attack is that Twirl from EoW. As for Grabs and Throws? Bind and Reverse Bind, the only ability in EoW that Zelda can use without something borrowed like the Tri-rod. It can also recontextualize Zelda's stunning beam from OoT.
As a Zelda main, I love this! I'd still want the original around so I can get off a few fun fireballs, but I'm pretty confident this Zelda would replace me using the old one as my main, as she really does embody the triforce of wisdom
I'm keeping Nayru's Love, *Din's Fire,* and Farore's Wind as is, but otherwise not too shabby. Also I'm gonna keep pestering you to remake Dr. Mario until you finally do it.
I really don’t Play Zelda in Smash like that to be like (Maybe This can work or Something else). but with this new moveset & specials, & references to the other games, I can see myself using her more.
Good video. I would pick jigglypuff and since she is a fairy type, they would be more of a zoner character considering fairy type Pokémon excell in speacial attack. As for her moveset, I would move her pound attack to her air forward move and change her dash attack into Roll Out. As for new special moves there is Hyper Voice, Disarming Voice, Echoed Voice, Dazzing Gleam, Play Rough, Draining Kiss and maybe Moonblast. Also think Jigglypuff Sing move should get a buff by making it like Hero’s Snooze.
Your remakes are always very interesting. Personally I kinda like how they didn’t just use the newest Zelda in Ultimate, to add variety with Link being BoTW. That being said a chronomancer sounds very interesting and unique. In terms of remakes, I’m definitely not on the side of “cut half the roster so everyone’s improved,” because I believe some characters are fine, but I definitely wouldn’t mind having less characters added so the old ones are better. Heck. I’m pretty sure Sakurai said that if the next smash game has any cuts, it’s really only going to be characters that are less popular, so I’m not expecting too many, if any. That being said I’m looking forward to more remake ideas, as I really enjoyed Sonic’s and Ganondorf’s, even if think that Ganondorf should have kept the sword somewhat, being a mix of physicals, heavy sword hits and quick trident hits.
I have been thinking that her recovery could be similar to tracer’s recall in overwatch. She still teleports like we are used to, but no hit box. She reappears where she was 3 seconds ago.
The thing that sucks is if Ultimate was in development for longer or started development a few years later, we mostly would have gotten BOTW/TOTK Zelda in the game with a few new moves as well
I would love to see a Peach(as a 3rd main) remake since I think you did Link and Jiggilypuff already. But amazing video and as a Zelda second main I am happy about the moveset you did ❤❤
I honestly think you should tackle more of the newer namco-era characters for remake it than the older HAL-era characters. Namco-era characters tend to be less straightforward and consistent than the HAL-era ones since the HAL-era ones have much more defined archetypes and are easier to understand (like samus being a zoner or donkey kong being a grappler, for example). Little mac is supposed to be a grounded bait-and-punish rushdown character but hes super fast and has super armor on his smash attacks (basically the opposite of how punch out actually is), every move min min does is a disjointed projectile hitbox that you cant really get past, belmonts being so reliant on far-range distances managed to piss off a bunch of people at launch, etc etc. There are some namco-era characters that are actually fine (byleth, ryu/ken, palutena to name a few) but the way they design characters feels like it needs more reconsideration more than the design philosophies of 64 and melee.
@@Neoxon619 I'm aware, but on the show most of the characters hes reworked have been from 64 and melee, with only two from brawl (sonic and wario) and I think one namco-era character (that being steve). As I said, I want to see him cover more characters from the namco era of smash because I personally feel like they need more attention than the older ones
@@SquidlyPoli1 I don't think "pissing a bunch of people off at launch" is really a fair knock against the Belmonts though, you could say that about like half of the zoners. I think a lot of the Smash 4 and Ultimate characters are fine actually, and there are examples that could be mentioned. That said, your description rings pretty strongly of Bowser Jr. to me. Like, what does he do? He has unique moves that do unique things sure, like everyone else, but he doesn't have a "thing". One of the bodies (said body being the Clown Car) taking less damage? That can't be it, since that's such a small mechanic in the grand scheme of things. IMO, Little Mac and Min Min do have clearly defined playstyles, SO clearly defined that they end up being one-dimensional and don't fit right with the game, they're poorly executed. I guess a character like Villager also feels pretty messy, but that makes sense for him given that his moveset *is* about randomly pulling out everyday tools.
....the second you mentioned that the cute zelda design they did for smash and is a reference to a zelda that deserves more love to be changed to botw zelda really hurts. Botw is already represented with Link! Each smash LoZ character represents a different game! (Young link is iffy sure but he can still fit majora's mask to let Ganondorf be ocarina of time) so changing zelda to be ANOTHER botw just ruins it. Love botw zelda, but she really doesn't deserve to be in smash. She just lacks the potential. Zelda is perfect as is. No need to ruin her!
But they only did the different eras thing because the entire Triforce Trio haven’t been in a game together since Twilight Princess at the time Ultimate was being worked on. Not only is that no longer the case, Ganondorf’s new design in particular is far too popular to ignore. At that point, it’d be weird if Zelda was the odd one out.
Here’s my own personal draft for TotK Zelda: ⬆️ B Luminescent Form B Reflecting Recall ⬅️B➡️ Golden Light (the light spark that’s seen when Link leaves a Divine Beast) B Bow of Light (BotW) ⬇️ Final Smash: Light Dragon Note: All magic-imbued attacks use golden light to represent Zelda’s sealing power. All tilts: Same as last time. All aerial attacks: Same as last time. All smash attacks: Same as last time. Dash attack and Jab: Same as last time. Grab and Throw: Magnesis and Recall.
I still think you're leaning way too hard into the Wild games with these Zelda series reworks. Ideally a character should represent their entire history, not just their most recent game. One thing I would change from your proposal is I'd make it so the stuff she calls in from other Zeldas don't use the time magic. Instead, they're just naturally things she has. Another thing is that I'd make her down smash that Triforce floor attack from Twilight Princess and Hyrule Warriors. I'd also like her harp to be worked in somehow.
Thing is, TLoZ series has no consistently continous style, it changes a lot release to release. The Wild era is probably the closest the series has had to a consistent artstyle/character design. For the last ~6 years, this Link and this Zelda were them.
While I love this as a Zelda main, I still want a form change for her, perhaps taunt combination that allows her to go into the background of space and time and “switching” into idk Tariko controlling him from the future.
First off, SHE SHOOTS AN ARROW INTO THE FUTURE. THAT IS DOPE. Secondly... (spoilers below) I find it quite funny how you let Zelda get control of the Light Dragon for her Final Smash, when in my personal concept for how ToTK Ganondorf would play in Smash, I did the same with the Demon Dragon.
Correction Sakurai said he wouldn't put BOTW Zelda in the game because & I quote "She isn't fit for combat." & there IS mods of BOTH TOTK & BOTW Zelda in Smash Ultimate.
Pretty good moveset. Love the focus on traps and creativity while maintaining her current Smash identity, which is not very common among fan movesets. My only suggestion is giving her a new, more standard Fair since two Lightning Kick-like moves are redundant, especially when you get good at RARing and B-Reverses, while also making her more viable with less cheese. I don't know what priecely to use since I'm not a Zelda fan, but I know there's plenty to work with.
While I personally would argue that Zelda didn't need quite as much of an overhaul as Ganondorf desperately did, her Smash Moveset has nevertheless felt incredibly dated with each new Smash entry, and each new Zelda game gave one of the most iconic video game heroines a different personality making her old Ocarina Of Time kit feel even more dated, and the fact that she's ALWAYS been ranked very low in EVERY Smash competitive tournament so far only further highlights how much her old playstyle needs to change, and overall, I think you did an excellent job of truly making the Hyrule Princess worthy of the Triforce Of Wisdom while still keeping elements from her old Moveset that still work for the smaller player base that still main her!😃I actually wasn't expecting her leg Aerials to be replaced, yet, they were, and honestly these do work better!😄I'm kinda surprised you actually kept her Phantom Attack since from my understanding, a lot of the fanbase have never liked its functionality, but you still did a really good job of not only swiping it to her Forward Special, but even alternating its stats so it's much better for usage!😆And her new Last Trump Card is MUCH better than the current one where it nearly impossible to avoid getting trapped, and could KO her caught opponents at nearly ANY percent making it WAY too OP than it had any right to!👍I think the only thing I MIGHT would've changed is swapping Recall to her Down Special, and her Light Arrows to her Neutral Special since it's been more of a signature staple for her for years now, but it's still perfectly fine with your version!👌Excellent video once again!☺I like that you even gave an extra slot for your Patrons so now they have THREE Smash veterans to pick from for the next Remake It video just like with Challenger Approaching, instead of only two! Yeah, with the very recent release of Princess Peach Showtime, I had a feeling it was only a matter of time before the Mushroom Kingdom Princess would show up a volunteer, and Link could definitely use some retooling too, and Purin without a doubt needs an overhaul especially ever since picking up a brand Type in the Pokemon games in Gen VI being Fairy that they've done absolutely NOTHING with. 😛 Since you updated the RI character Patreon poll to 3 slots now like with CA instead of 2 like before, maybe you could also add an "Overview" section near the end of RI videos in the future with 3 "Improvements", and 3 "Impairments" just like the 3 "Strengths", and 3 "Weaknesses" in CA! 😌 Look forward to the next RI video!🥰 Keep up the amazing work, Delzethin! 👏
The idea of recall and upB is really cool, but i should be usable with more things like I didn't really understand the smash attacks part, but Zelda only summons the weapon and it moves on its own, being able to use recall on it would be great
You know, looking at Zelda’s effects in smash ultimate that they are currently Make me kind of wonder what it would look like if we replace Ness’s psi with the textures that Zelda uses?
You know what I love about these videos, the fact specials actually feel special.
The idea of Zelda's whole game plan revolving around her Arrow of Light is pretty inspired!
Victory screen ideas:
Bonus victory quotes:
Link: "Remember Link. There's a fine line between courage and recklessness."
Ganondorf: "I will never let you claim Hyrule!"
Sheik: "You honour the Sheikah well."
Young/Toon Link: "Oh dear! Did I do this to you Link?" (Mistakenly thinks her Recall caused Link to become Young/Toon)
Rauru: "My apologies Rauru, but I claim this victory."
Genuinely shocked there's no Sonia skin
me too. i thought it was weird for rauru reference but no sonia
Which is crazy, cause there is a Zelda who is into fighting. The one in the green tunic
😂😂
@@TheSultan1470There’s a Zelda throwing hands now, let’s bring them in (ideally with the Royal Travel Attire as opposed to the normal dress)
And now with the new Zelda game teased, i think that version of the character could have even better potential for a remake of the kit.
Thank you for keeping the up air explosion, it’s the most important part.
@@JacobPDeIiNoNi The Phantom is basically a charged projectile, her moveset doesn't have any way to interact with it.
Man, the timing on this video. Released about a month before the new game where you actually play as Zelda came out.
babe, wake up! new delz smash video dropped
Good stuff!
I play Zelda a lot too (she's one of my pocket picks), and I love this moveset too! I'd totally secondary main her if she got it!
I haven't watched the video yet but personally I like that all of the zelda characters' designs come from completely different games in Ultimate
I'd love to see more of the design tier list videos, whenever these remakes come out I like to look at where the character originally placed there
As one of the rare people who have mained Zelda since Melee (and yes, I mean fully without using Sheik) you did an absolutely phenomenal job embodying her! You kept the core elements of her moveset while expanding upon it to give her the boost she so needed without breaking her!
How funny, that only a few weeks after you released this Nintendo just announced a new Zelda game with her as the protagonist? Lmao.
So many cool interactions between the moves!
My only nag with the vid is that the yellow writing on the white background made it quite tricky to read
@@Neoxon619 But it is a priority 1 Nintendo franchise.
You put so much effort into these movesets, this would become a main of mine for sure!
If anything, this kind of kit aged like fine wine with Echoes of Wisdom.
Alternate Non-Cinematic Final Smash:
Zelda concentrates her sealing magic and command grabs an enemy, and makes a giant Botw-like ball of light to multihit the enemy, and any other fighters who enter the seal as the ball grows over time.
"This glass cannon has slightly thicker glass.." You weren't lying...
I'd love to see an update on this video after Echoes of Wisdom comes out.
Funny enough, that might not be necessary.
9:55 "Ok but when are we getting to the Cadence of Hyrule references."
My dreams have been crushed.
There are also rumours of a new Zelda game with her finally being the main character. I hope we get to see this Zelda in Smash one day.
The height thing is also funny cause this isn't a particularly tall version of Zelda and few, if any, versions of Zelda have been so young they'd still be growing, as most women stop growing pretty quickly after reaching puberty, done by their early to mid teens.
zelda’s alts should better than that,
they should alternate between Outfits & Dresses, 4 with long hair & 4 with short hair:
Alt1 modern totk outfit w/ short hair
Alt2 ancient totk dress w/ short hair
Alt3 modern botw outfit w/ long hair
Alt4 white botw dress w/ long hair
Alt5 snow botw outfit w/ long hair
Alt6 royal botw dress w/ long hair
Alt7 Green recolor of Alt1 (Link)
Alt8 Purple recolor of Alt2 (Zelda)
maybe in one of her Taunts she would either pull out the Purah Pad or Sheikah Slate depending on which alt and taking a picture or tinkering with it
I love to have this new Zelda in Smash 6 alongside with her long hair from BOTW
For the next Challenger Approaching, I'd love to see you tackle someone like Shadow the Hedgehog or Dante. I think you'd have a lot of fun with them.
Personally, I think Zelda should be like the koopalings in the sense that every alt is a different model.
I wasn’t really into this rework until we got to the time arrow. I feel like smash has a severe lack of trickster setup characters
I need this so bad! Great ideas dude
Example 1: Link
Neutral Y: Rune (Press to use, hold to swap. Certain runes can be used here) (Ascend, Recall, Cryosis)
Side Y: Spinner/Hookshot (When used on the ground, Link will spawn in the Spinner to move around faster and deal damage as he goes. If used in the air, Link will use the Hookshot to grapple to any surface to jump off, grab a far ledge, or even an opponent)
Up Y: Paraglider (A small gush of wind spawns under Link's boots and sends him flying into the sky, and then follows it up with a paraglider use. The player can manually and casually put away and pull out the paraglider for better landing too)
Down Y: Construct (Press to get 1 of the 3 randomly selected constructs and hold to get 1 of the randomly selected constructs. Constructs can be destroyed or disappear after a few seconds. There's also a cooldown for the said constructs too) (Turent, Homing Tank, Hover Turent)
Example 2: Banjo-Kazooie
Neutral Y: Wing Whack (This attack functions like Meta Knight's Neutral B, but it's a parry move. It can't make Banjo or Kazooie to levitate)
Side Y: Beak Saw (An original move for smash bros. This ability allows Kazooie to use a special move for traversing the stage faster and cause some damage. Can even be charged up for more damage. If used in the air, the amount of distance is halved)
Up Y: Flight Pad (Functions like Banjo and Kazooie's Up B, but it allows the two to fly forwards. The move can also turn around too. There are also more special functions too. A = Egg Shot, B = Beak Bomb, and Y = Glide (Glide slows the flying down for more percice landing). Press down to deactivate flight mode)
Down Y: Drill Beak (On the ground, Kazooie will rapidly start to spin so fast, her beak becomes a drill and deals damage above. This deals small amounts of flinching damage at best. If used in the sky, Banjo and Kazooie will both fall down at a rapid speed and spike anyone who Kazooie first lands on)
Whoever wins the next remake poll, all I want is:
Jigglypuff- Twinkle Tackle being its new final smash
Link- uses his glider asan up special instead of an entrance animation
Nah Link need Revali's Gale (Up-B) and Jiggs needs Misty Explosion (for a special)
PAC-MAN mains would have serious competition with the galaxy brain setups this new Zelda could pull.
Now we also have Echoes of wisdom as well for a Zelda overhaul
Sounds really fun to play
Some ideas:
Visual Design: The Royal Dress from BotW, but slimmed down akin to the thinner fabric of the TP dress.
Oh I've been waitin for this one!!!
As a Zelda main I love this
Instead of phantom i feel like it should be the robot thing rauru’s sister possessed, forgot its name
I'm keeping Nayru's Love, *Din's Fire,* and Farore's Wind as is, but otherwise not too shabby.
Also I'm gonna keep pestering you to remake Dr. Mario until you finally do it.
This version of Zelda seems more combo aggressive yet zone keep away heavy. I like it ❤
I really don’t Play Zelda in Smash like that to be like (Maybe This can work or Something else). but with this new moveset & specials, & references to the other games, I can see myself using her more.
As a Zelda main, yes this is cool. As long as she's looking all magical and graceful, I'm satisfied.
JP was done dirty. I know she’s a joke character, but there’s a lot of cool stuff she should be able to do! The Fairy Types deserve it!
HAL-era was just 64 & Melee, Game Arts did Brawl.
Here’s my own personal draft for TotK Zelda:
⬆️
B Luminescent Form
B Reflecting Recall
⬅️B➡️ Golden Light (the light spark that’s seen when Link leaves a Divine Beast)
B Bow of Light (BotW)
⬇️
Final Smash: Light Dragon
Note: All magic-imbued attacks use golden light to represent Zelda’s sealing power.
@@TheSultan1470 I don't mean in terms of looks.
@@TheSultan1470 I don't mean in terms of looks.
i just wish she had better mobility and neutral
High IQ gameplay, but whoever manages to do it would become a monster
While I love this as a Zelda main, I still want a form change for her, perhaps taunt combination that allows her to go into the background of space and time and “switching” into idk Tariko controlling him from the future.
First off, SHE SHOOTS AN ARROW INTO THE FUTURE. THAT IS DOPE.
Secondly... (spoilers below)
I find it quite funny how you let Zelda get control of the Light Dragon for her Final Smash, when in my personal concept for how ToTK Ganondorf would play in Smash, I did the same with the Demon Dragon.
Correction Sakurai said he wouldn't put BOTW Zelda in the game because & I quote "She isn't fit for combat." & there IS mods of BOTH TOTK & BOTW Zelda in Smash Ultimate.
I like this moveset but I think Zelda should also get the sheikah slate, she does have it, so combining sheikah slate runes with recall
big brain moveset, nice
Pretty good moveset.
Love the focus on traps and creativity while maintaining her current Smash identity, which is not very common among fan movesets.
My only suggestion is giving her a new, more standard Fair since two Lightning Kick-like moves are redundant, especially when you get good at RARing and B-Reverses, while also making her more viable with less cheese.
I don't know what priecely to use since I'm not a Zelda fan, but I know there's plenty to work with.
I hope you'll ever remake Little Mac’s moveset
Criminally underrated channel
you should do a rosalina episode
This video is great and can you remake peach move set
The idea of recall and upB is really cool, but i should be usable with more things like I didn't really understand the smash attacks part, but Zelda only summons the weapon and it moves on its own, being able to use recall on it would be great
You know, looking at Zelda’s effects in smash ultimate that they are currently Make me kind of wonder what it would look like if we replace Ness’s psi with the textures that Zelda uses?
