CR920x and CR920XP - The Absolute Best Carry Pistols? Maybe...

- Here is a detailed and in-depth review of two of Shadow Systems' newest offerings, the CR920X and CR920XP.
These pistols are the size - roughly - of a Glock 48 - but boast 15+1 capacity, optics ready, and cross compatibility with most Glock 48/43x holsters.
Furthermore, in this video we shoot the entire Shadow Systems subcompact line side by side so you can see how they all handle.
I'm working on refining my content and editing, so if you have CONSTRUCTIVE feedback or want to see certain things reviewed, drop a comment!

Shadow System should offer a 200 round ammo gift card with the purchase for the break in cost. I'm thinking about this CR920XP.
Facts.
I always run at least a few hundred rounds through any pistol that I carry or use for home protection. 1 to get a feel of the gun, 2 to find out what ammo it likes and 3 to make sure it goes boom if I ever needed it to. Now for my range toys, i do the same, just not a few hundred rounds, just find out what it likes and call it a day.
I mean they could get around the break in by loosening the tolerances.. that would coast them nothing. Would you prefer that?
I just hit 1,200 rounds through my XP yesterday. It was a mix if six different brands of ammo, four different grains, and JHP & FMJ. Proud to say, not one malfunction of any kind. This is my third pistol form Trevor and I’m happy to report, all three are beyond flawless.
Good to hear. I’ve got a bunch of SS as well, but given how much I shoot, I shoot a lot of reloads.
Glad I turned in. Just got the cr920xp and you’re not the first person to say use 147 grain. Thanks a bunch. New sub ❤
Thanks man! Trying to make the channel better and make more content. I’ve written for gun mags for years but thought why not make some videos. If you have any suggestions or things you want to know about lmk!
I love my Mr920 elite, Xr920 elite and cr920 elite. I was not aware they had A xp 😮
Hey Man, that was an awesome & thorough review! Thank you.....
Appreciate it! Trying to get better and put out more content. Was going to start doing in depth reviews of hammer fired pistols with a rich history (CZ, SIG, Beretta, etc)
I look forward to that review. There's a lot of talk in the gun community about which is better, Hammer or Striker Pistols. Keep up the Good Work!
Bought a CR920XP three different mags, three types of ammo, 115 and 124, same issues! Sent it back for a manufacture warranty!! Currently waiting for it to come back! My MR920P runs great though !
Please update me when you can. I've been reading about this alot and want one but not if this is a trend

Sorry to hear. Put my Glock 43 guide rod in mine and it made all the difference
124 grain and above in the XP. High pressure quality ammo and you won’t have an issue as I didn’t have one!
Shadow Systems recommends 1 breaking the pistol down and oiling.before shooting which you should do anyway. 2 A250 round break in and to use 124 or 147 grain during the break in with compensated pistols.
Yes did all of that; this is 1 of over 10 SS guns I’ve had.
i noticed a significant recoil reduction when I shot +P/hollow point/defensive ammo out of a compensated gun vs non compensated with the same ammo....way more so then when comparing factory ball ammo of the same grains and comp vs non comp
IMO brand new pistols needs to be broken in & lubricated.
Out of the box, the pistols I bought are not that well lubricated. I typically shoot them with 147 grain to break them in.
After broken in & well lubricated, you then you can shoot 115 grain with no problems & you’ll notice the compensation a lot more. For me, it’s almost like shooting a BB gun.
I have a g19 gen 3 & put on a compensator from Radian Weapon. The ramjet + afterburner. And I t’s my edc.
It’s night & day for me.
Good review!
Ugh... I like my CR920 size and feel, and want the XP, but the Shadow Systems triggers are just so spongy after the wall compared to 1911/2011.
This is like comparing a Civic to a Ferrari dude.
Yeah I have an XR920P and I have issue with ammo too. Magtech, S&B, and Fiocchi sometimes have offcenter primer strikes in my gun even after a a thousand or so rounds. Shadow Systems just seems to have very tight chambers that make their guns sometimes not play nice with certain types of ammo (usually reman ammo or guns with hard primers)
Yea I’ve had issues with feeding reloads in their comped guns. Factory is eats no problem in my experience
Just bought mine and had the same issue.
I had failure to eject and a couple stove pipes for about 45 rounds running 124 grain blazers. After that she was smooth as butter and now my EDC. My G26 G5 now wants a divorce lol
Took the XP to the range today and she’s still acting up.
I’m guessing you’re shooting 115s in a comped gun (already a no no) and during the break in (200-300 rounds) either one isn’t bad but together it’s going to be
Also if it’s working out of the one that’s the same minus the comp it just means the comp is working too well and you need more pressure OR a lighter spring weight or both. The problem is the comp is mitigating so much pressure it doesn’t have enough left to push the slide all the way back.. lighter spring fixes that so does a round with more pressure.. or both
I was shooting 125s and 147s and ended up selling it because I couldn’t get it to run right even after 400+ rds.
Thanks for the comment.
Have a MR920 and a CR920 and now i am deciding between the CR920X or the XP, not sure yet which one .
Go CR920XP if you already have a cr920. You can take the slide off and make a CR920p.
Cr920xp is the length of a mr920 but .5 inch thinner.
Good evening in your opinion what shoud I get im in between buying a CR920XP or a MR920P ?
All things being equal, I’d go mr920p. Fills more roles and you can load 33 rd mags in it.
Cr920x here 300 rd break in not 1 issue. Lot of people having hang ups, fail to eject. I so far am not one of those people. O btw also ran 115 grain
The x is non compensated. Have not ran 145g
Yea my 920x has had no
Issues. XP, not so much
I noticed your slide didn’t lock back at 13:30 on the cr920. Is that only with reloads?
Good catch. I probably had a high grip and was in inadvertently hitting the slide stop. I don’t have issues with non comped guns locking back, even with powder puff reloads.
Yeah, I figured it was from u having A high grip and pushing the slide release upwards. I was asking because I noticed mines didn’t lock back with 115 grain factory ammo. I was gonna try 124 grain next, On my cr920.
Are they also putting out a 10 rd mag for the xp?
Dunno but I can ask
Is a 200 round break-in period
That’ll work. In my experience you need 100-500 rds to break these in, especially comped guns.
Could you comment on kidex holsters for CR920XP?
Hilliker Holster Co or Tier1 concealed are great options, I have both. They’re good to go.
Where do you find the XP 10 round mag?
I’m not sure they make one. Do you live in a mag-restricted state?
Yes every 4 days
How has the cr920x reliability been for you soon far?
920x has been flawless from round 1. Carrying it a lot lately
@@AZoneReviews Great to hear that. I ended up going for a 43X with PSA mags. The mags are ok... I get about one failure every 30 rounds, mainly during slow firing. When practicing drawing from the holster followed by a double tap it works. But still. I'll see if there's a black friday sale on the CR920X and I'll give it a try :D
Funny to take something like a glock thats only saving grace is its reliability and manage to screw it up for 2x the price lol
Got mine yesterday, and this exact same issue happened to me. The gun brand new is just extremely tight and has to be broken in also using hotter ammo helps. My issue went away after about 50 rounds fyi.
Thanks for the comment! Same. Mine cleared up after about a box of rounds.
Should have read the instructions. 124 for 200 rounds
You guys are shilling this hard
You guys?
I just took my CR920 XP to the range yesterday and I literally had a failure to eject every other round with 115/124/147 grain !!!! It is just the most unreliable gun that I have ever owned, and I have 4 other Shadow systems pistols without any issues but this one is a piece of crap! I spent over 500 rounds, and now it is better, but I still get a failure to eject at list once on every clip, and I am also getting a trigger that occasionally does not reset!
I changed my grip a little bit and mitigated that with other comped guns. Sometimes if it doesn’t reset AND you get FTE it’s short stroking
Look at installing a 43x Glock oem recoil spring. That fixed mine. The SS recoil spring felt horribly rough.
every clip eh?
Change the recoil spring… or Use 124 Fiochi ammo. Do a couple of mag dumps. Worked for me.
Before shooting, I racked and dry fired a ton for a whole day. Ran 150 rounds of 124 grain ammo without any issues. I even fed 100 rounds of 115 gr monarch ammo through it without any hiccups. It helps to load the magazine's completely for the first 200 shots, making sure to complete the break in session all at once
Shadow systems are trash but good video man
Appreciate it. Going to start doing reviews on hammer fired pistols and Gucci CZs. If you have any requests let me know.
@@AZoneReviews cz p10c been wanting one for a while
Break in period lol
Because there built to very tight specifications
Not a fan of there trigger or there cheap polymer
Cool.
The best carry pistol?! lol… Ridiculous assumption.
Perhaps you are familiar with the word “algorithm”? That drives most titles on RUclips. #science
@@AZoneReviews very
It's a gun issue not an ammo issue
Do you have one?
Wrong! It’s an ammo issue. I have had zero with the right high pressure rounds!
@@AZoneReviews Had a cr920 and sold it due to having the same problems after 400+ rounds. It's the gun for sure
Had the same issue but I didn’t give up. Stove pipes at first using 115. Changed to a quality 124GR and it fired flawlessly. Later on I got some intermittent FTF so I switched to a lighter recoil spring. Turns out it was the cheap range ammo I was using. No malfunctions after about 1000 rounds
