I worked on this show sometimes as an assistant editor. I’d sync up the audio and video. The amount of times she says something and one of the crew would just burst out laughing… she also sometimes says something so ludicrous she starts laughing m, it’s nightmare 😂
I’ve never laughed so hard at work in my life. I’d honestly go home each night with painful ribs from the laughing.
Your username is just amazing. I completely understand the context and where it comes from, aha
@@ramonalavigne8953 haha thanks 🙂
I used to go by DaveRubinsDisappointedDad until Mr Free Speech himself got my account banned
How long would it take for 'the penny to drop' for the experts?
@@williamevans9426 At first the experts knew nothing but soon the cat was out the bag so to speak. They never know in advance what she will ask them though.
@@allanmanaged5285 Many thanks!
Love this. She really does not take any prisoners. The history of America is an absolute must.
OMG right I can’t imagine anything been more up KBs Ally 😂
Oh yes - history of America is very much a must! (And she also does a history of Britain.) Her real name is Diane Morgan. The experts are warned, but they do not know in advance what she'll ask/say. Some are better than others at rolling with it!
'At least Shakespeare never had to study Shakespeare at school'.
One of my favourites 😅
'on Christmas day during world war one the fighting stopped and they played football. Which goes to show even in times of peace men will still separate into teams and try beat each other'
@@theobserver2267 World War 1*
@@somerandomguy2073 edited. And of course
As an American you will love her 'History Of America". She really rips you to pieces, as in "they called it the land of the free, which must have come as a surprise to all the slaves"
Best line ever!
Why spoil it?
@reddeeet1485 Some people just can't seem to stop themselves for spoiling stuff for people.
The scary thing is they don't even think they're spoiling anything.
I've given up trying to work out their thinking process.
🔔🔚
MY favourite line. -They called WW1 the war to end all wars, Though there might be some evidence to dispute that
The lady who plays cunk also played Mandy in “Mandy”. It’s an absolutely brilliant tv programme, absolutely recommend
The spiders in the biscuit factory! 😂
@@mrk.dilkington 1 to stun! 2 to kill! 3 to make sure!
That guy who handled the Beyonce question was a straight-up boss. He's obviously knowledgeable but also able to not be too serious and handles it well.
Loved the Cunk / Shitpeas duo on Weekly Wipe too.
So just to clarify any confusion, the people being interviewed know it's a comedy show, but they don't know what Diane is going to do once she starts the interview.
Incorrect. Look into it.
@@hammerhorrible I've actually got this from an interview by Diane Morgan herself, so unlike most people making random comments, I did look into it. She said it with all the letters, people know they're recording a comedy show, but they don't know what she's going to say or do, she also spoke about how she had to quickly improvise based on the response she gets, but she tries to anticipate some probable responses and prepare a comeback for those.
@@hammerhorrible YOU are incorrect, OP is correct. Look into it yourself.
No, you're wrong, there is a script.
@@Garmonbozia100% wrong.
"Fill-a-mee-na kunk"
Good try though king 🥴
Diane Morgan appeared in After Life.
Her shows as Philomena Cunk -
Cunk on Britain
Cunk & Other Humans
Cunk on Earth
Cunk on Shakespeare
She also appears as Cunk in the Netflix specials -
Death to 2020
Death to 2021
And then there’s her earlier appearances on the satirical comedy series Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe.
Not to mention her role in "Motherland" and that she writes and stars in her own show, "Mandy".
@@HeeBeeGeeBee392 i was just listing her Cunk character shows but yes Motherland was also good, i need to go back and finish that. It was probably the more realistic of the shows by Graham Lineham, it’s been a while since i seen the first series but i remember it being very different from Father Ted and IT Crowd with it’s style of comedy.
@@HeeBeeGeeBee392 also Mandy was very good.
Yes mate that's it Charlie Brooker. I was trying to think what it was I first saw her on, Barry Shitpeas aswell, just couldnt think.
She also used to be in a comedy duo with Joe Wilkinson... AGES ago -x-
I love her description of an animatronic dinosaur at the Natural History Museum, as Tyrannosawdust Rex.
You should watch her in Motherland. It's a great show, very funny
My favourite.
I get the impression that some of the interviewees think they’re so much smarter than ‘normal people’ that they think she’s being serious. Others just go along with the joke and some get visibly annoyed. She’s brilliant. Cunk on Earth is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on Netflix.
Philomena Cunk is amazing. Apparently the experts know it's not serious but are asked to keep a straight face, which is also hilarious. And it's "Philo-mean-a Kunk"
They don't know it beforehand, but are informed straight after the interview has taken place. What they are told beforehand was that she is new In her job, a bit nervous, and also told in a nice way that she isn't the brightest of people - I think it was inferred to the interviewees, but not blatantly said, that she has a 'condition' that inhibits her understanding of certain things, so if she gets things wrong just to go with it, maybe to try and explain things to her in a way she can understand , this was done in order to stop them from guessing that it is a wind up. But immediately after the interview they are told what was actually going on, and then are asked for permission to air the interview. I've seen an "extras and bloopers" video, and it shows some of the interviewees being told afterwards. Just as funny as the actual interviews in some cases.
They know before.
@@mace9770 they don't. I've seen the behind the scenes video I mentioned before, they are just given the info that the interviewer is new, not very experienced and a bit ill informed and that is basically it. As far as they know they are there for a legitimate interview in regards to talking about whatever their particular subject if interest is.
Also, this is from an interview that is online (Google it as RUclips doesn't allow links) that Diane Morgan (Philomena) did explaining things:-
Bolton-born comedian Diane Morgan: Although many of the people she interviews in her series are not aware of her(she feels one of two may have recognised her) she explains between, sips of water. “They are just told they are being interviewed for a BBC history documentary, I think. They are quite flattered and are keen to explain their area of expertise. We are not taking the piss out of them, but it’s nice to see them struggling and having to recalibrate their ideas.”
Sometimes it looks like the guests may have twigged that this is a wind-up. One would expect TV critic Mark Lawson, for instance, to realise what is going on. It’s a technique that has been used before, famously by Sacha Baron Cohen as Ali G. Maybe others spend too much time with their heads buried in the Domesday Book. “We never make it clear what we are doing. I’m sure some of the boffins just don’t watch TV. You lull someone into a false sense of security, then slip in some weird questions when they are too polite or it’s too late to leave.”
I've seen the interview with Diane and Charlie Brooker ( the writer ). The experts know its a piss take but they don't know what she's going to say. They ask them to try and keep a straight face.
To be clear..."fill-o-meena kunk". So far you're the only reactor I've seen who has made the connection to Ali G, to my mind there are some similarities.
Im Australian and my son introduced me to this hysterical show!! She is absolutely brilliant!! Laugh my butt off every time!
You and Queen B would love her 'historical documentaries' like Cunk on Britain, or Cunk on Earth.
I think each are 4 part'ers.
They are bloody hilarious.
Her shorts, like Moments of Wonder, are brilliant too.
She started doing this character on Charlie Brooker's TV Wipe. Diane Morgan is a brilliant actress and comedienne with terrific timing and a masterful delivery.
She does America for one of the bits --- American history. I feel sure you would enjoy.
It only gets worse. Sorry.
Most of the time, Philomena is my online spirit guide.
The format is usually nature or history shows with titles like " Cunk on Britain " or " Cunk on Earth"
Cunk on Britain, Cunk on Christmas, Cunk on Earth... all comedy gold!
All the series are brilliant. The one on America you'll love. As brilliantly funny as the inbetweeners, but in a different way. Start at the beginning of Cunk then work back to her appearances on Charlie Brooker's screen wipe.
I'm so here for Philomena Cunk reactions. She's hilarious.
As others have said, her real name is Diane Morgan. You've seen After Life, right? She worked in the newspaper's office with Ricky Gervais.
"Philomena" is a real name as well, there was a movie called that starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench.
Love her series Mandy. A work of genius
Yes, it's also the name of a Catholic saint and derives from the Greek φιλουμένη, meaning "beloved".
Yes very under rated show.but showed her talent.a northern fleabag type heroine 😂& Charlie Brooker also very underestimated writer that won't get the acclaim of comedy genius but she became the character in everything she's done.perfect.& She's pretty😘🤗
check out her own series “Cunk on Britain”……
I like the fact that the third series of Afterlife humanised Diane more.
Cunk on Britain is the show. Charlie brooker at the helm
The name is ace. In the shows there is a character called Barry Shitspeas
😂 good 'ol Barry!
Shitpeas
And it's no wonder 'Cunk on Britain' got a series name rather than 'Shitpeas on Britain'.
Or even the legendary "cunk on Christmas" 🤣🤣
They should give him his own show where he travels the world, grading different kinds and types of disgusting peas. Rating them on texture, taste, cooking methods, appearance etc.
It should be called:- "Shitpeas on SHlT PEAS"
Her name is Diane Morgan. Actress/comedian. She once dumped a boyfriend because she didn't like the way he fell down the stairs. She is a very funny lady.
That's just a character name Boomer, the actress is Diane Morgan, she's brilliant and a jewel of British comedy, she's been in multiple shows over the years. Afterlife, The Cockfields, just to name 2 of many. She's a very gifted comedy writer too.
I believe when doing Cunk interviews the experts are semi tipped off, and yes, the vibe is definitely Ali G style.
"I stopped believing in god when I found out it's dog backwards" - stealing that! Philomena is amazing! I've watched all her shows and they crack me up every time I see it pop up on youtube
All on Netflix. She is brilliant !
It’s even better in context in the full shows
The full shows are a must.
You really should react to more of Philomena Cunk, especially the History of America & WW1 & 2.
I liked the UK military professor & the American specialist discussing Abraham Lincoln. How they kept a straight face during 5heir interviews, is beyond me.
These people are all specialists in their field, who are told to treat her like a 12 year old child.
Diane Morgan is brilliant. You will have seen her in After Life. She is a fellow Boltonian and grew up in the same town where Phoenix Nights was filmed - Farnworth. The name is pronounced Fill Oh Mean Ah Kunk as far as I know.
I've been waiting for this day!
Had me in tears!
Diane Morgan, she's amazing, how the hell can she ask such questions without laughing 😂
There are entire documentaries done with her hosting, you get genuine interesting facts of history with the humor of the comedy of her character. 🤣
The actress was also in "Death to 2020" (Netflix) and plays a different character but she is still endlessly funny.
I've watched these plenty of times, so I just watched your face the whole way through without looking at the video.
I knew you'd love these. Definitely more Cunk on the agenda for KB I think!
Diane Morgan is her name and she's a actress, comedian, and writer. She's been on shows like Motherland, After Life, which was on Netflix, and Mandy, which still airs and is in it's third series as they call it over there.
There’s even a Cunk on Christmas which is also brilliant. The experts know she’s a comedian and they are asked to answer her questions as if they were answering a child. Please do more ❤❤❤
Philomena Cunk also stars in a Comedy series called 'Mandy' which you would absolutely love
Mandy is a work of art! Stupid, brilliant and hilarious!
Diane Morgan stars in a comedy show called Mandy,
Mandy is short but it’s brilliantly funny, permanently unemployed but trying different jobs every week. 😂😂😂
Diana Morgan was also hilarious on Ricky Gervais' comedy series, 'Afterlife'
Awesome! Please react to her full shows, they are well worth it. There's a gag every few seconds, some of them may be lost if you don't live in the UK but I am sure you will pick up more than most US reactors with the amount of UK shows you have watched
fella, you should check out "Brass Eye", or "The Day Today", they would be right up your strasse. If you are feeling really adventurous, you could try "Time Trumpet".
You have to do *PHILOMENA CUNK ON AMERICA* next!! 😂
Yes! The Cunk Journey begins 😂
Diane Morgan - or at least her character Philomena Cunk - I think originally started out as a talking head on a Satirical news programme called Newswipe which had various iterations Weekly Wipe and Anti-Viral Wipe (during the pandemic). She's also one of the characters on Netflix's "Death to 20XX".
The clips you are watching belong as part of a series called "Cunk on..." and there are different names depending on the series.
You might want to see if you can see her comedy series "Mandy" - not playing Philomena Cunk in them, but the stories are hilarious for a 15 minute show.
Would love to see her team up with Jonathan Pie at some point
Phil O'Meena
Played by Diane Morgan and mostly written by Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror, various satirical review programs)
All of those, please do some more of her if you will pardon the expression. Great reaction.
I first saw her doing segments on a Charlie Brooker show. Definatly check him out. How tv ruined your life, screenwipe and newswipe.
Filomeena Kunk. Her friend is Barry Shitpeas. Cunk on America is my favourite. Washington crossing the Delaware had me in stitches.
Diane Morgan is brilliant she does some video shorts called "Mandy" and starred in Afterlife with Ricky Gervais. In this show you pronounce he name Phil-O-Mena
First seen in Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, along with Barry Shitpeas.
If you want to do a reaction to all the Cunk series, you may get away with copyright issues if you cut the music at the beginning. I've seen other reaction videos that have done the same. You are in for an absolute treat.
You hit the nail on head with the Ali G comparison, they know it's comedy but don't know what she's going to say.
She does a show called Mandy which is brilliant as well.
Diane Morgan started in a small slot on Charlie Brookers weekly wipe . She is playing the ultra millennial Philomena but the experts are all real . How do they not burst out laughing ?
they do.
I think they're told before hand that it is for a special cause or for children's TV or even that the interviewer is autistic so they feel really uncomfortable about not playing along with it and trying to take it seriously.
@@rlawrence9838 A few people here are suggesting interviewees are told it's a comedy, which is incorrect. They are told something along the lines of she's a little bit slow - whatever the PC term for that is. Otherwise they would not provide the responses in the manner that they do.
@@hammerhorrible I said something similar, I think they are told she's autistic or something like that and it's a special show etc...possibly a subtler ruse but something along those lines.
I'm sure they are experienced lecturers and most have appeared on tv before . I think no matter what they've been told they soon work it out . One thing we are good at is keeping a stiff upper lip .
She is also a character in a show called AfterLife which I think you would like.. It’s a comedy with Ricky Gervais playing the main character , but it’s also quite sad too
History of America. 'nuff said.
Diane Morgan has another hilarious character called Mandy Carter
The curled lip and cigarette with the birds nest beehive 🤣🤣
Day light come and they wanna go home 🍌
Cunk has a mate called Paul. Paul lives an adventurous lifestyle
I think the character started out on Charlie Brooker's weekly wipe. (Brooker went on to create the Black Mirror series)
The show is from 2013 and onwards. Well worth checking out.
Diane Morgan has reprised the role a few times now, all are just hilarious.
I'm convinced philomena cunk is Neil from imbetweeners mom.
Mate, fall into the wonderful world of Diane Morgan, everything she does is pure gold x
She started on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, with a 3 minute bit, then Annual Wipe and so on. Then got her own shows on BBC.
Cunk On Shakespeare and Cunk On Christmas are both brilliant.
Philomina started as a recurring character on a satirical show called Screen Wipe by the Black Mirror writer Charlie Brooker. The character was popular so they developed a few 30 minute 'documentaries'. The interviews with experts are just one part of the show, a lot of the best bits are Philomina delivering monologues straight to camera in different locations. Cunk on History and Cunk on Earth were two of the early ones. But as I'm sure one of the other muppets has suggested, Cunk on America might be right up your street.
She has done a number of shows. Cunk on America might be a good one for you.
There is no such show as Cunk on America.
Philomena Cunk (played by Diane Morgan) was a character that first appeared on 'Charlie Brooker's Screen Wipe/Weekly Wipe' shows (which in itself is well worth watching for other characters like Barry Shitpeas) and fronted her own shows 'Cunk on Earth' and 'Cunk on Britain'.
You may know Charlie Brooker better as the writer of the Black Mirror TV series.
Barry Shitpeas has yet to land himself his own show.
I'm not the biggest fan of Black Mirror - I respect it but I don't often enjoy it - so as far as I'm concerned introducing us to Diane Morgan and the Cunk character is Charlie Brooker's greatest contribution to 21st century British/Western culture. His old shows were really good, and yeah Barry Shitpeas was funny. I also feel like the first time I saw Scottish comedian Limmy was via Brooker's stuff. He launched quite a few careers.
Also I do kind of harbour a secret hatred of Charlie Brooker because damnit, I wanted to marry Konnie Huq.
Charlie is also the creator and a co-writer of her Cunk shows.
King Charlie also wrote TVgohome the humourous fake TV programme listings on t’internet in the late 90’s
I think Dianne was very obviously inspired by Ali G and Karl Pilkington’s brain when she created the character - but she pulls it off superbly (oo-er missus!)
I would LOVE to see 'Barry Shitpeas investigates'
I really miss Brooker's Annual Wipe.
They were always hilarious, and I can't help but think they would have had copious amounts of material to draw from over the last few years.
Need to react Philomena Cunk and Usa! That’s hilarious too…
Hey King Boomer I love your reactions! If I may suggest some more british comedy to react to in the future. There's a government satire show called "In the Thick of It", and the movie of it; "In the Loop", would be a great introduction. It's starring Peter Capaldi, James Gandophini and others. You Rock!
She did three series. Fillo-meena Kunk. Real name Diane Morgan. You should watch the whole episode of Cunk on Britain. She is ab hilarious!
I recently spotted on a rewatch of a really underrated gem that (the UK version of) Utopia briefly featured Diane Morgan acting, just before she became Philomena Cunk. It gave me a jump scare.
She played a great character in Ricky Gervais afterlife !
There's historians with channels that do Philomena Cunk videos as a spin-off, just to diagnose and interoperate what she's actually on about 🤣
I definitely would be all for you reacting to more Philomena Cunk content please and thank you.
Check out "Barry Shitpeas".
* Didnt see the person below my comnent had recommended him first, but i second their recommendation. He comes from the same show that Philomena Cunk did. They were both talking head characters, parodying the type of tripe hardly-celebrity talking heads you get on "I love the(insert time period/pop band/era here)" type tv shows.
Diane is top-notch. Gorgeous and talented.
It has been said already but you have to react to History of America - you will absolutely love it
Watching the full episodes is a better idea. All are good & about 3 on that Neflix series are hilarious start to finish.
She does 2 Episodes Of Mash with Joe Wilkinson too.
Great lady, great show. Her interviewees are aware shes a comedian, but are not aware of the questions she asks. A few times, she's actually got them iggling.
Diane Morgan is a genuine eccentric, love this. Not too sure if Americans have the same eccentric sense of humour!
I want to say that my favourite one is probably from Cunk on Britain, when she's covering the plague, but I'm hoping that we get a series reaction eventually.
Cunk on earth and cunk on Britain. Both series are brilliant and you need to watch episodes to get the full experience.
Phil oh Meena kunk
Phenomenon Sink is my favourite comedy character
If you want more Diane Morgan, I can recommend 'Mandy' on BBC and 'Motherland' which (in the UK at least) is on Netflix
She is also in Ricky Gervais' Afterlife.
she was in after life with ricky gervais, she worked in the newspaper office with him, she's really funny
Diane Morgan is brilliant, you should check out her series called ‘Mandy’ you’ll love it and so would Queen Boomer.
You want to watch Paul kaye (aka Dennis Pennis) celebrity interviews. Hilarious!!! He also stars in 'Afterlife'.
She is great in Ricky Gervais' After Life
Brass Eye!! That is the platinum standard of this type of thing, way before Ali G
The character came from a show by Charlie Brooker called TV Wipe. She would offer observations alongside another male character called …Barry Shitpeas. 😄
This was awesome please do more of her.
You have to check out her “History of America”, it’s hilarious.
Loving the reaction
You need to look at episodes of "Mandy" if you can find it, a comedy both written by and starring Philomena, I mean Diane Morgan
My grandsons in Australia and Canada have watched some of the Cunk series during their civics classes, such as Cunk on Earth, Cunk on Britain in their history class, and Cunk on Shakespeare in English Lit. They love them, as they do the Horrible History series.
