Exactly what my brain was telling me 😂. That’s overengineered, but there must be some use cases I’m too dumb to imagine where this might be more versatile than a standard router setup?
@louisolivierfortin I watched 3 times because I couldn't believe they built that contraption when a router is so effective. Oh well, some idiot will make that purchase.
Man that looks awesome. Love watching your videos. I get so many good ideas! Wish I could spend a couple weeks having you teach me how to do joinery. Your joints always come out PERFECT!
Maybe the tool is meant to be used with other bit than a 45°? One could argue it'll wear the bearing less? Also this tool seems inadequate for doing the interior edges of the frame...
This tool is designed to trim edge banding and it does that extremely well. I’ve not seen it used this way but it works as well. There are probably easier ways to do this though
There's a lot 2 like about U as a Craftsman . U look happy 😅 & very content in what u r doing . ❤ ur joinery . And lastly the Festools . Xcellent Choice
I'm an amateur @ best & appreciate the demo. Maybe that setup has it's place but IMHO this ain't it. My trim router would seemingly do a more than adequate job.
What am i missing here? Trim router, chamfer bit w/bearing...and a wide base for the router does the same job. This tool most do something else, right ??? Festool has routers. What gives?
Feels like something you’d buy just for the sake of having another Festool product. Not even hating, it just seems genuinely pointless compared to a normal trim router that’s requires zero setup
As a festool owner of this router amongst about 20 other festool tools I can say this and take it for what it is. I do ALOT of refacing on the job site where dust is a problem considering I have to be in and out of a bank within a couple days. Festool is my go to for dust collection whether it’s sanding solid surface or trimming laminate. 99% of the time I reach for my RIDGID trim router as it’s more convenient. But….. nothing beats the smoothness and versatility of these festool routers and other tools. This is no stretch of the imagination when I say my RIDGID tools account for 70% of my tooling but when I leave a job site clean and homeowners or business owners see me rolling in my second mortgage that I call my festool, they seem to be repeat customers. Yes I have about 15k in festool but my return work due to the dust free (ish) job site has paid for all my investment and then some. Hook up this little router to one of there tracks and do laminate seems onsite and tell me how much more efficient Makita or Milwaukee is. I’m from the states and agree their stuff is over priced but I’ve also replaced my 1.5 horse router three times compared to my festool plunge router still kicking and working like new.
If it could do the tenons that are exposed 1/2" after assembly that would be more impressive. Otherwise it's a waste of time setting up for simple chamfers.
😂😂😂 вы серьезно? Это самый бесполезный фрезер компании festool ) такую работу можно произвести любым самым дешевым фрезером в котором стоит скошеная под 45°фреза с нижним подшипником )
Talk about over complicating a task. Chamfer bit with a bearing works fine. Or makita trim router with adjustable bearing does exactly the same job for a fraction of the price. Festool domino ismone of the best tools ive got but this ridiculous...
Looks like a complicated solution to a simple task.

I agree, a little ridiculous compared to a chapter bit
What's complicated? It's a very stable and repeatable solution
@@daveklein2826 I can do the exact thing with a 99 dollar router instead of a 1500 dollar set up
I’d be grinning too if I had a shop fulla festool! 👍
🙌👍😁
I'd be crying
Moi aussi. Et je sourirais encore plus si je l avait rempli de "Mafell" 🤤

You can do it!
What about a normal bearing run chamfer bit...
Exactly and it would take less time to set up and use.
Maybe the tool is meant to be used with other bit than a 45°? One could argue it'll wear the bearing less?
Also this tool seems inadequate for doing the interior edges of the frame...
Because this tool costs $60,000. And only does one job
This tool is designed to trim edge banding and it does that extremely well. I’ve not seen it used this way but it works as well. There are probably easier ways to do this though
It’s a solution looking for a problem.
The finishing detail. Great job Dusty😊

what a true man, a hero, he can set up and use any tool out of the box WITHOUT reading the instructions
Couldn't u get same results with a trim router ? What makes this a better tool for this in your opinion out of curiosity?
Festool's perversions! 😂
Like a child on Christmas! Never have I seen one so happy with the new toy haha
Always fantastic. I enjoy your videos thanks

Nothing. Trim router is faster, easier and less expensive

far more steady. Even tho i also use a regular router, this is killer for the straight runs
Regular routers with simple guides have been doing this for 120 ( more ?) years. !
My Black + Decker baby is fine thank you 🎉🎉
Damn, they really are thinking of everything over there at festool....really impressive 👍
Seems like "over-thinking"

Das sieht sehr schön aus, wir sagen hier in Deutschland immer: die Arbeit sieht nur so gut aus, wie das Werkzeug mit dem du gearbeitet hast. 👍🏻🇩🇪😎

Hope you don't mind me using your videos as my new ASMNR😅
Well, that’s different. Someone over at Festool is thinking so far out of the box that they’re working in a different building!
👍👏
Why is this better than your normal router and a bearing in the bit?
Worckshop tour?
I plan on building a new shop on 32 acres and will make videos of the process and show my shop and layout and tools 👍
I'd love to spend a week in your shop just learning
A normal router with a chamfer bit? Normally I’m quite envious of your gear, but this, not so much.
Watching this guy is making me wish for Festool Tools.
What doesn't Festool think of?
End result, flawless.
Festool need to do a cordless one of these
Soooo....
Why couldn't you have done that with a regular router?
Why? For this task it would work in its standard konfiguration.

It's not really made for this. It's mainly for trimming edge banding, that's why there is a step in the baseplate.
I became exhausted watching Dusty put it together.
Sounds like you have issues
I’ve got this trimmer, but the base has a 5 degree angle, but a chamfer may work? Guess it would be a 50 degree 😂
Makineyi kullanmayı bilmek daha önemli sanırım 🤏👌
Я конечно все понимаю, но есть тысяча способов снять фаску в сто раз проще и в миллион раз дешевле

I think it's a bit more than just putting a chapter bit in the router, I bet the cost is rediculous
