it always goes back to Micheal Eisner. I Feel like Disney's realtionship with the muppets under their hand has been very up and down. I would like them to kind of have let the muppets do their own thing and let them ahve a new muppett trilogy.
I was unaware of the fallout, that makes sense though. Would you do a part two or separate video about the Jim Henson puppet company? I was under the impression that they were the one and the same. Thanks
I doubt any did. Just like nobody remembers the live action Beauty and the Beast show "Sing Me a Story with Belle", a supposed continuation of the original film where Belle owns a bookshop. The show also used puppetry, that gave off a Jim Henson production vibe. Although many can say that the show wasn't that good, due to it's modern setting and feeling like a last minute theme park attraction, and feeling like more of an excuse to promote Disney's classic shorts. Although to be fair, the actress does give a better Belle performance than Emma Watson. Yeah, I said it. Fight me (Just alert me that you will).
@@dgc1570Honestly that was the main reason why Eisner wanted to acquire Jim Henson Productions just for the Sesame Street characters and it didn’t help that Eisner badgered the heck out of Jim Henson for months on the Sesame Street characters until his death in May 1990.
There's speculation that Eisner and Katzenberg stressed Jim out so bad it contributed to the illness that eventually killed him. And Jim couldn't give Disney Sesame Street even if he wanted to. He didn't own the rights to those characters. Sesame Street belongs to the Children's Television Workshop, something Eisner just couldn't get through his thick head no matter how many he was told.
Henson actually did initially own the rights to the Sesame Street Muppets. His company owned them until 2000. That was when they sold all their properties to the Germany-based media company EM.TV. Before 2000 ended EM.TV sold the Sesame Street Muppets to Sesame Workshop and sold everything else back to The Jim Henson Company.
Something I love about the Muppets go to Disney World special is, when they go to meet Mickey Mouse, it’s not the park mascot or a Muppet version of him, it’s the actual Mickey Mouse animated Roger Rabbit-style
@@osmanyousif7849 Sing Me A Story With Belle was similar in concept to PBS' Shining Time Station, with Belle essentially being the Stacy Jones of that series. For STS, it was the Thomas the Tank Engine stories. For SMaSWB, it was the Disney animated shorts, which were often accompanied by original songs. I don’t really see how Disney would screw the Muppets up, all because of an obscure Little Mermaid series, that was cancelled. Because of how obscure it is, there’s just no way Disney would acknowledge that Jim Henson Little Mermaid special. It kinda sucks how the Muppets 3D Ride is getting replaced by a Monsters Inc ride. Especially with how the Muppets are handled nowadays. While it’s not as huge as it was back when the 2011 movie brought the Muppets back into relevancy… the Muppets are still relevant in the current decade. We had a crossover special between the Muppets & Haunted Mansion, we had two Disney+ shows that didn’t get greenlight for a new season. Plus we have the Muppet Babies reboot. So I’d say the Muppets are still relevant, I just think it’s not as huge as it used to be. I wouldn’t call this current Muppet Era a dark age, as we have been getting more experimental stuff that that are more good then ruff. But it’s pretty criminal for Disney to just down a longtime ride such as the Muppets 3D ride, as the Muppets are still doing well for the company. If there’s one silver lining to this… it’s that it seems like the Jim Henson Company and the Walt Disney Company, aren’t in cahoots anymore as they were in the 2000s. You showed a clip from a video that was made 2 months ago, and it was a video that was uploaded to the official Muppets RUclips channel. That video was made in honor of Jim Henson’s birthday, and it features Kermit, Oscar, and the main character of Fraggle Rock (I forgot his name), both Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street are owned by the Jim Henson Company and Sesame Workshop respectively. That being said, Disney’s treatment towards the Muppets is less cruel as from what I’ve seen, the recent Muppet projects are very good compared to how they were in the 2000s. It’s still horrible that Disney would shut down the Muppets ride at Disney World, but they’ve always been replacing beloved & longtime rides for newer stuff anyway, so it’s unfortunately just something we can’t control. I wish we could have protested so that Disney wouldn’t shutdown, because that way, the Muppet Ride wouldn’t get removed.
It seems like the only successful Disney Muppets project after the 2011 movie is the 2018 Muppet Babies series on Disney Junior. I mean, it ran for 3 seasons, 4 years, and 71 episodes. As for this show, I've never seen it, but it does seem like something that probably would've fit better on Playhouse Disney if it came out later.
They’re not getting rid of Muppet vision 3-D. They’re just moving it on the other side of the park where they’re put it near the Muppet roller coaster that’s coming I might get fired for telling you that keep between us

(Surely some of the old timey movies Muppet Babies sourced 3rd party footage from are now in the public domain? The Muppets on ABC only had one season. They just retooled it halfway through.
Little Mermaid’s Island was later retooled into a series of children’s books. Plus, these puppets look super creepy, even by Muppet standards.
