This helps tons when trying to cut down on music. Its easy to see where the waveforms line up. No more extra line of audio just to try to line up the waveforms
This is a very good feature to make a shorter clip longer, now I can have 30 sec audio clip to any length using this feature. Thanks for demonstrating it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have wanted to know how to do this for a long time. Question: Is there ever a reason that you can think of for swapping the clips on the layers?
Sure, when working with Voiceovers (or any audio) what ever audio clip is on the top most layer is the one that will be heard. So you can swap clips really quick and easy while keeping them all in the same audio track and location.
@@JasonYadlovski Yeah if you wouldn't mind. I've watched some of your videos on Audio and could still use some guidance. I don't know that I have a specific question. More like: can you take a look at my video I'm editing with me and let me know some critiques, guidance, etc.
HUGE thats one thing i miss the most from FCPX... the easy audio editing. Can you make a video with how to automate audio effects like a LPF or HPF, keyframing etc? Thank you mate
You can setup a blank project however you'd like, then go to the project settings, click the 3 dots on the top right and save those settings as new default preset. That way every new project has it enabled.
I need a video on how to clean messy audio. I do mean messy. I messed up on a gig with audio during an interview. The kids who I was interviewing was loud. Even tho there was a good distance between us.

Open I can get some advice from you in regards to audio. I shot a bunch of Wedding footage on my Sony FX 30 so it was to NSD card and some of it was to an Adamos ninja five in Perez when I go to download into da Vinci 19 the video clip goes in, but no audio track goes in and there is audio on it because I can play it back the files on quick time and there’s audio on it, but for whatever reason da Vinci isn’t recognizing any of the audio files what do I do? Why isn’t it loading audio onto the timeline or importing the media?
Hey! Maybe there are multiple audio tracks associated with the video file. If you select the clip in the inspector, right click, go to Clip Attributes, then the Audio tab, try changing the source section. I'm thinking you might see the multiple Audio recordings there...
It's possible Resolve might not support the audio format. Resolve doesn't support EAC3 and I've had to convert it to AAC. I use XMedia Recode which has an option to copy the video so that I am only converting the audio without losing any quality on the video. I also use MediaInfo to get the specs for the audio (bitrate, samplerate, etc) and then match everything when doing the audio conversion.
I have been begging BMD on the Resolve forum for over two years for Layered Video Editing so you can place video clips on top of other clips without deleting them in the same way you can with audio. This has been my top request since I started using Resolve, but nothing yet. 😩
A good solution for reducing and continuing bit leaks. I personally am waiting for the engineers to make a 👉 "secret sauce"👈 , with which we will take the edge and stretch the track to the desired length and it will generate seamless cuts itself Although, a lot of people are waiting for this opportunity. But, this is also a great solution at the moment.

Thanks, that will be very useful.😀
I have been doing it the hard way and never get it perfect! This is a brilliant tool! Thank you!
I found that if something seems too hard or takes too long, there's probably a better way. 😜
Awesome as always, Jason 🙏🤘😁
Thanks Gary!
Wow, that layered editing feature is a real time saver, I've wanted something like that in DR forever!
Glad it was helpful! It's been around for quite some time in Resolve. 😜
That's pretty cool, wish i knew about it sooner
Better late than never! 😜 Thanks for watching!

That's neat! I'm always guessing when I'm trying to extend a music track, LOL.
Hi Jason. Wondering if you do any 1-on-1 coaching. Thank you.
Happy to help if I can. Many times I can answer questions and get you going pretty quick. If you wanted longer sessions, I could figure out something.

you are a beast
Thank you. In the past I just stacked audio layers/

I've got a video on how to automate any audio parameter, here's a link to the vid: ruclips.net/video/TmS6s9tBANs/видео.html
Is there a setting to enable this by default in a new project?
You can setup a blank project however you'd like, then go to the project settings, click the 3 dots on the top right and save those settings as new default preset. That way every new project has it enabled.
I have the free version. Either I'm doing it wrong or it is only for the studio version?
Audio layers should be available in the free version....🤔
@@JasonYadlovski OK thanks
I wish I knew this a few months ago
A Sponsor!
👍
does it display layered view by default?
You just have to turn it on in the menus at the top. It’s not on by default.
can you use the music for free in mosionaray?
Yes, they do have some free music if you have the free account.

i can't see through the layers like a ghost, any help?
Make sure you went to the timeline menu and turned on layered audio editing, and also go to the view menu and turn on show audio track layers.
Why isnt this enabled by default? Oh, I forgot.....DaVinci Resolve. ^^
Not everyone wants to work in audio layers I suppose...😜

It might be in the works. For now we do have the Elastic stretch. 😜
