Thanks for taking the time to let me show you some of the daily challenges us wheelchair users face! I hope everyone who watches gets a fresh new perspective and gratitude for their bodies 😁
Great stuff. Any reason for not using a bigger diameter wheels on the front of your chair? I thought it would make rolling over rough sidewalks much smoother and easier?
As a wheelchair user these are issues I face constantly. I could write a long comment but all I really want to say is thank you to the both of you for making this video, and to Richard for all of his other videos. Awareness is the first step to change.
I hope this video helps end the “faking it” rhetoric the media spews regarding ambulatory wheelchair users. NO ONE would fake needing a wheelchair. This video shows how hard using a chair can be.
Thank you Richard for teaching so many of us about something we may not know about! I've personally learned so much from this video. And thank you Louis for putting yourself out there and making meaningful content
The City needs to watch this Video and make major changes for the wheelchair community because that sucks that they have to put them selves on harms way because the side walks are too high! All California and the world needs to see this!!!❤
Not gonna lie, my wheelchair sat in the living room for nearly 6 months before I was really willing to use it on a regular basis to go out of the house. What's interesting to me is how so many people around me - nearly all guys, regardless of age - will plop down in my wheelchair if I'm not in it and immediately push around, try to wheelie ... and fall. Repeatedly. So, what's the attraction? Does it look like fun? And, after this, are you less likely to see it as a "fun" activity and appreciate the sore shoulders and scraped up hands (and knees, and heads, and elbows)? Did your view of the degree of difficulty involved change?
I’m not usually one to comment on RUclips videos but this video made me feel the need to do so I am a power chair and manual chair user who has cerebral palsy and this made me really smile for all the right reasons! I experience these barriers and battles you guys showed and discussed and it’s a breath of fresh air to see these experiences from other perspectives I appreciate the sensitivity and maturity that this video has! Thank you for sharing this and showing your perspective and being so honest and open huge props to both you and Richard on this your really educating people keep up the great work. I’d love to see more videos like this from other creators.. thank you I hope this video goes far to help and educate others ❤️
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment Georgia, hopefully it will educate others and give them insight into the struggles wheelchair users face every day!
Awesome video even for an experienced wheelchair user. I appreciate anyone taking the time to understand even a fraction of what we go through. Thank you Richard also for being so articulate in explaining things. With a little patience and compassion even old dogs can learn new tricks!
Thankyou for taking part with Richard, very insightful and you just become so aware ...I am a year into my wheels and its tiring having to pre think and plan routes and well everything but I'm still me and always find a way
What a great video of awareness! I am an able bodied person so I also don’t think about those little things. I would hope videos like this would cause communities would make curb cut outs, fix the sidewalks and make businesses more accessible. Thanks for showing the issues you face.
The thing is people think that when you are a wheelchair user that is the wheelchair is the main issue, but quite often it's not the wheelchair it's everything else that comes with the disability. Thank you Richard for doing this video, it needs to reach out to non wheelchair users rather than us that are already in one! We still need more Awareness regarding wheelchair users. Thank you guys.
I’m not a spinal cord injury, but I am a wheelchair user. I’m a bilateral amputee and it was great seeing you experience some parts of what we go through. What you guys said about the problem solving is so true. Everything is trying to figure out ways that work best for you. Like when you had to get back in the chair for me it’s a different way. Every wheelchair user has different tricks and things that work best for them.
Great job Louis, this is something everyone should try and see the world from a wheelchair for a day. As a chair user, I found my first day in a wheelchair life changing and it is definately seeing the world from a different perspective. Richard has gone through a lot and come out the other side a much stronger person. It would be awesome to see this go viral!
This was so great. As someone who works with individuals with spinal cord injuries, accessibility is something that I am very passionate about. Thanks for spreading awareness!!
Louis you're wonderful... you're the type of person who tries to be the best version of themself and most aware person you can be and that's extremely admirable.
This is my first time watching this guy on RUclips and I wanted to say thank you for sharing the experience with someone who is willing to learn about life in a wheelchair.
that “aggressively kind” comment really resonated with me haha. i do that too, especially at concerts or events. now i have a good description for it 😂
I'm not even a minute in and I have to say this is a really good video. As a disabled person, wheelchair and RUclips, showing the world what it's like from a different point of view is important to me. Thank you @FunForLouis for making this video and hopefully in turn gaining a better understanding of life in a wheelchair. I'm going to continue watching now 😉. Anyone who reads this is more than welcome over on my channel, if you want to come say hi. LJ
Inspirational stuff! the practical side is one thing, but the deep message of living minute by minute with zero hope, and managing to get the point you're at Richard, very powerful! Thanks guys
Louis and Raya. I always dreamed of crafting your wedding bands someday. Now you gave me another reason to like you both even more. Thank you for using your platform for the good.
As a wheelchair user, for me the hardest part was to accept the new image of myself and how other people suddenly sow me. Thanks so much for doing this challenge, I would love to have a part in PT, where students lern from a wheelchair user how to get around. And they can really experience it for a time. I think that could change so many things in society.
It should be a requirement that city, public transport, and planners of the public realm spend time in a wheelchair with another person that uses a wheelchair to get a first-hand understanding of how things can be planned better.
Not all wheelchair users are in a chair because of spinal cord injury though. However I really like thus video and think it’s a good one for able bodied users to watch. I have chronic illnesses and full body Crps and chronic pain syndrome and cannot walk stand or anything. Mental health is a huge factor as well for thank you for talking about this too.
Thank you Richard, I am only a little more than a year in a wheelchair. I have learned so much from you by only watching your movies on RUclips. For ezample going to the toilet, look far enough ahead, look where you can cross at a crosswalk, do wheelies and so much more. Thank you for that. God bless you in all you do. And keep up the good work. Jon from Cananada.
great video. being a wheelchair user myself, i almost felt psychic watching this. i could see exactly when the tips and spills were gonna come. that back slam at 13 seconds was brutal lol
Hey guys, I am a complete T7 paraplegic and would like to chime in on the question about how others can help someone who is not able bodied. I would love for my family and friends to come to me and say hey let's go practice going down a curb or hill. Let's practice you getting into a car and breaking down your wheelchair. Things that ot and pt don't do really. Being more purposeful with time spent together is a wish for me. Thank you for bringing awareness with your videos. Awesome work!!
Really good video. Made me very nervous for your thumbnails, I've ripped mine off on my brakes many times. On the point of people asking why you're in a wheelchair - I'm the opposite of Richard. So many are uncomfortable about what is/isn't appropriate to ask someone in a wheelchair, I really appreciate that they put themselves in a vulnerable position and seek to connect with me. I don't want people to pretend I'm absolutely no different, because then the wheelchair becomes a huge elephant in the room. If people are genuinely curious and interested, then I'd much rather they feel comfortable asking, than make them feel guilty for wanting to know more about something that's new to them. Sometimes the fear of offending makes people too scared to even talk to me and then I end up left out. As long as something is done with good intention, even if a little clumsy (we all are from time to time), I appreciate it.
Hi. Louis. I just came from Richard's video on your day out in a chair. I wanted to tell you that I think you did really well. I'm not trying to be patronizing what so ever. In my opinion, it took a lot of courage not to throw in the towel when you keep falling out. It was really interesting to watch this challenge from both sides. I'm a wheelchair user so I only have one side. Also, I'm subbed to your channel now. I'm curious to see your other adventures. 😀
This is great a challenge which reveals the real challenges of a wheel chair user an eye opener for everyone . Thankyou for sharing and it was a great conversation between you 😊👍
Great video ! Im on my cities disability committee and we deal with these issues. But it really is a constant fight. And yes, this video shows what you cant explain. I tried. Total failure.
Richard is wrong on one fundamental thing - no-one is "content being depressed". I cannot believe he'd say such a thing. We don't ask to be depressed. No-one who has experienced it would. It sucks. It's exhausting and debilitating. But you get to a stage where you feel so worthless that you don't know how to ask for help. You feel guilty for troubling people. That how I and others become isolated. It isn't our fault.
UncleBully jeez who the F*** is editing Stevie Wonder ? Mind you it could be argued a blind man could do it quicker . Louis should hold his head in shame & embarrassment for this long delay . All too often he’s all puff & no substance .
My Freewheel wheelchair attachment eliminates all barriers to accessibility on sloped or flat ground such as snow, bumps, grass, etc. I want everyone in a manual wheelchair to know about these
i was paralyzed in a revision spinal fusion in Nov 2022. emergency surgery in Dec 2022 opened up space for my left leg to come alive. it's now 1.5 yrs later and I'm still struggling with the huge effort of learning to "walk" this past year. I can't feel my bladder. I only have a transportation wheelchair and stuck at home 24/7. i'm 48 yrs old and my 24yr old daughter has become the homemaker. i'm useless to my husband and two girls who are trying to finish college. IDk why i'm here.
Please watch the video. There is so much to be learned and so much to take away and honestly in a sea of crap content I'm so happy when I see things like this that actually make people think and help us open our hearts and our minds. Instead of getting stuck on a phrase and shutting people down, can we try to celebrate each other and lift each other up when we're trying to do something good?
Again, I wonder.. if wheels2walking is ok... *worried* Going to watch this fun video now. Wheelchair user here, thank goodness I was able to get a wheelchair skills course!
You peeps need do the door passing the more safer/easier way. Backwards. Essentially big tires first means less hassle and chance falling on your face.
I have depression and bladder problems.... I know tmi. But I do believe God has a plan for all of us and wanted me to see this!! Thank you all.🙏👑👑👑👑💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚 I don't wanna be unhappy this helped me focus on the good in LIFE🙏🙏👑👑👑👑

You definitely should do something cool with the YesTheory crew 👍
YESSS MY TWO FAVORITE RUclipsRS IN ONE VIDEO!

I use a freewheel attachment cuz Washington state has obstacles to chairs

Didn’t even give him a chance with no wheelie bars 😂
This is great a challenge which reveals the real challenges of a wheel chair user an eye opener for everyone . Thankyou for sharing and it was a great conversation between you 😊👍
I spent pre-K in a wheelchair, luckily I got surgery and I was able to walk and run but it's fascinating to view life from a different perspective
It's not unlucky to be a wheelchair user. 🤦
PageMonster Didn’t say it was
Bless you Louis for making this type of film! Touched me on oh so many levels! 👊🏼
Thanks for taking the time to watch! ✌🏼
This was so awesome!! Thanks for sacrificing your hands and head for the video bro 😂
What a brave guy! Beautiful story, thanks for bringing it up Louis!
Cheers Johny!
The only time disabled people start thinking "aw the poor defenceless able bodied person" is when they get in our wheelchairs 😂
Great video I really need to learn to do a wheels for curbs and thresholds
My dad was in a wheelchair before he passed. I appreciate you doing this louis.
Thanks for watching, it means a lot! ✨
Thanks for sharing. A great video of two intelligent people bringing inspiration to the world!
Cheers Paul!

Louis - for a British perspective, check out Gem Hubbard's channel, wheelsnoheels. Maybe you can meet up one day for another vid.
I will check it out, thanks!
I follow her also! ❤ She made her husband grocery shop from a chair. It was "enlightening" for him.
Great video. Definitely an eye opener.
Did Louis ever deliver that around the world plane documentary?

Thanks for watching Daniel!
Love what you do it's really awesome
Love you for doing this.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💓❤💓❤💓💓💓💓💓❤❤💓
Love the video but I think it’s hilarious how it’s a video about awareness and there’s a fake service dog in the background 😂😂☺️
"switching lives" is probably the wrong phrasing chief just a heads up
If you actually watch the video you would know that this was addressed in the first 30 seconds.
Please watch the video. Hey Louis any update on the Round the World documentary ?
Update coming soon!
FunForLouis thanks Louis
This is awesome. Great work
I am in a wheelchair and I am 4 so you are lucky 🍀 that you are grownups
wow this is crazy
I would love to do this challenge
Great vid 👍
No curb cuts?? There’s curb cuts in every corner in my city I believe. I’ll go check
The curb cuts aren’t always accessible. They should be...but they aren’t. Lots of times they have giant cracks or are steep or uneven. In a perfect world they would be easy to navigate for all wheelchair users.
Shannon W it’s crap.
Im becoming more and more aware.
I always check for accessible restrooms everywhere I go now.
My mom has complained my whole life about buildings having steps and no ramps. She’s always looking for those things.
It’s bad
Not only that, there are places where there's a cut on one side of the street, but on the other side, nothing. I've found this several times, mostly in rural areas, but some cities have this too.
Belinda B that’s awful
great vid
