Eddie Hall trumps this. Watch his video of him benching 265KG (6 plates) for 6 reps, no spot, big pause, full range of motion and no straps/wraps. Search "Eddie Hall 265kg Bench Press at Strength Asylum".
Eddie is for sure a fuckin beast but he can't come close to Spoto. And since he does not plan to compete in powerlifting all you can do is speculate what he's capable of doing in a meet.
265KG is 585lbs. That is less. Don't get me wrong, Eddie Hall is one of the top 3 all round strongest men on the planet. A worthy WSM champion. But don't expect him to be benching 722lbs any time soon.
He probably knows his limits, some lifters fear doing more because they know their elbow may give out. Especially this guy had no straps, so went for safe than sorry.
joe nolan Please my friend Joe, enlight me, had high reps fucked up Spoto's shoulders? I thought low reps were the most devastating for the joints!!! Thanks a lot!
***** Even the fastest white man ever (Christophe Lemaitre) has narrow calves and a small chest. Blacks with large chests and stockier builds do not end up as elite sprinters. 99 percent of top weightlifters are White or Asian. The mere fact that human bones and joints can withstand that kind of force (let alone propel it up, repeatedly) is a testament to the brilliance of Mother Nature and evolution.
it is not a testament to evolution. It is a testament to the nature of adaptation through repetition. You evotards are always trying to attribute every single thing in nature to evolution.

@@danielneil6276 kirill and spoto both use leg drive, they are both competitive athletes so they use every advantage they can, they both use arches too
@@milosz1977 I'm commenting on this video solely. Nobody cares that you think you are some sort of expert. In this video the guy is using no leg drive.
This is incredible. I found an old (18 monthish) t-nation thread where you discussed your training, has it changed at all since then. Congrats on a completely mindblowing set
I'm 33 and have been training for 17 years. Believe what you will my friend, it won't effect me or my training I lost my ego a long time ago. Enjoy your next session and don't worry about me or the people in the videos just use it all as motivation to improve your own lifts.
I am a life long natural lifer of 17 years with a max bench of 530 x3. I understand people debating his natural status but it still should not detract from the fact that there are probably only a handful of people on the planet who can do what this man has achieved. Natural or not, he is still an inspirational lifter who stands out among the many strong benchers we all see on you tube. We should watch those like him for motivation, not to simply run them down. Keep lifting
You are right. If he trained for max, he would probably eventually get the max raw record too. Right now he seems to have the unofficial rep records at 600 and 405. The only ones that come close to him on 405 repping are Hoornstra, Baria, and Kennely. But I've never seen anyone handle 600 for more than 3 reps before, and this guy had 7-8 reps in him.
I'm blown away. I have labored for years with lifting heavy benches and haven't come even close to anything like this!!! He moves it so Smoothly and with perfect Control...Poetry in motion!! It Beautiful to watch!!! What is his best single rep?
soon, very soon. he's going for it on november 3rd. he already did a 700lbs raw bench paused in competition not long ago and it was his second attempt easy as hell
Thanks for the compliment about my ability. Any way lets get back to Big E as we seem a little distracted. The point that I was initially trying to make is that as a natural lifter of decent ability, I can still draw inspiration from all of these great lifters. I don't run them down because of possible chemical assistance. I simply say that was a great lift and it gives me numbers to aspire to. This kind of mentality has kept me motivated for 17 years. Try it, it might work for you.
Not yet, He has the 3rd strongest raw competition bench at 700lb, I thin the other records are 711 and 715lb (scott medelson), the 715 record is a bit iffy because Scot didn't really pause at the bottom (as per the rules) but they still passed it. Theoretically, Eric spoto (the guy in the video) has the potential to really get this record in the short term/medium term.
Genuine raw. No need for me to lie. Never tried a shirt. Don't think I could get one on if I tried. I just enjoy lifting and testing my limits and guys like Big E give me the motivation to better myself as I hope they do for you. I follow all of the iron sports from strongman and powerlifting to bodybuilding and these feats of strength inspire me and help me set targets for the future. Don't get caught up in the debates just use the video as food for your imagination. Keep lifting.
There are six 45lb weights on either end, you can even read the number clearly on the right side (his left). Thats 540lbs, plus the 45lb bar, thats 585lbs plus two 5's which makes 595, and you can even see the tiny 2.5er which brings it up to 600 even because there's one on each side. The bar WOULD bend more if he was lifting from the center but he has a wider grip so it takes some stress off of the bar.
this is eric spoto, look at his other vids, and his bench press attemps at super training gym. no fake weights. there are bars that don't bend even with 1000lbs. called a texas power bar. not your typical planet fitness barbell that bends with 225.
different bars may bend or not. when you're loaded down with your max or any high weight really you can tell which bars are softer and which aren't, thickness plays a role in this too.
I agree, some people just seem to be able to grind out half a dozen reps close to their one rep max. But with 4 easy reps at 645, my guess is that this dude has well over 700 in him.
Agreed. Arcidi was 286,0lb in the 308lb class when he pressed 666.9lb completely raw in 1984 - that's x2,33 bodyweight. When he did his 705 in 1985 he was probably a bit heavier. Henderson was a solid 390lb when he hit 711lb raw in 1997 - x1,82 bw. Though Arcidi surely is one of the all-time best bench pressers, Henderson is still number 1 in my book because a) he hit 711lb raw lying flat in perfect form under ipf conditions and b) I believe him to be one of the very few drug-free lifters.
It wouldn't surprise me, he's an amazing lifter and amongst the best in the world. If you say he did 600 naturally I could believe it. There are 6 billion people on the planet and some are just very gifted. He is one of them.
Usually when I watch videos of people benching ridiculous numbers, something about it makes it seem unimpressive such as a bench shirt or a chest block or both, but there is literally nothing I can see to hate on this guy
