    I've played on the same world for several months (Friends occasionally join but I'm usually on my own) and I have over 14 days of playtime. I've taken breaks, but I've always had an idea and gone all out to reach my goal. I've even dug over 700k blocks in this world to make space for terraforming and more building. I want it all to look nice and have as much fun as I possibly can!

    I have a world that I've managed to keep for about a year now, I believe, which for me basically unheard of. I realized a few months in that I was getting caught up in trying to make those efficient farms, and get the best gear, and make grand plans, and make builds to impress people, like the youtubers I watch instead of just having fun, so I ended up ditching my main base, went 10000 blocks away, and started over in the same world.
    And this time, I just allowed myself to do whatever I felt like without worrying about progression or efficiency. I built a few nice buildings, I started excavating a trail ruin, I'm currently working on a long, natural, winding road from my base to said trail ruins, I went and got all the new dogs, I explored the ancient city for the first time (and got frustrated enough that I explored it in peaceful mode, mainly so I could just laugh in the stupid warden's face), I'm in the process of making a long man-made cave all the way to the bottom of the world (that will act as my strip mine), and so on
    It's been so nice to just play the game instead of having my nose to my phone looking at an automated farm tutorial to copy. And guess what, I even tried making a new world today and realized that I actually now prefer going back to that old one now. I've broken the "2 week minecraft phase" cycle (I mean, that's still how long my motivation lasts at a time, but now I'm not making 500 new worlds and saying "this will be the one," because I actually have the one now).

    I enjoy having good or decent gear, and I just build. I take the idea of building a village and then building by building i make something, and I'll never be finished because I haven't done everything yet and I make sure that I don't play too often for too long.

    I was raised off the game, first playing it on pocket edition before getting it on the XBOX 360. This game has raised me and everyone else in my generation. I would always build dumb but fun builds in creative mode, I'd occasionally play in a survival world with my cousin and my brother. We just built things to have fun, we focused on that and not the progression aspect of it all.
    Even though our builds weren't the prettiest, they were still ours. We had fun doing it all. Thank you for this video, it really opened my eyes as to why I keep losing my interest in the game. The quality of the video and talking about everything is so deserving of my like and sub. Keep it up man, I'm going to go play minecraft again and actually enjoy it for once

    I'm so glad a lot of the sandbox players are beginning to push back against the RPG oriented players. This has to be done because the game is beginning to shift development into something like Terraria (Tricky Trials for example), and it's because the RPG players have gotten louder and comfortable speaking their minds without any criticism.
    I think some people just aren't going to enjoy Minecraft because let's face it, some people just aren't creative. Most players don't design their own builds, machines or farms. Most people just go onto a RUclips video showing them how to build it 1 for 1 and copy that. No experimentation, no creativity, no agency. These players need to come to terms with that and move on with their lives and play games that they will enjoy instead of staying here and whining about "progression" and "exploration", hoping Minecraft will become Terraria 3D.
    The appeal of Minecraft comes from the intrinsic motivation to do something because it is fun in of itself, not because of some extrinsic motivation that x will get you y and y advances the player to the ending of the game.

    I never understood for the life of me why so many people play minecraft in creative mode trying to imitate something they saw online. The joy for me isn't in designing a flawless building as fast as I can but in gathering the resources to build my own idea in a survival server where other friends also play so I can also share it. The more disconnected a game makes me feel the more at home I feel. If I didn't embrace this disconnection and went and built a perfect thing I saw online instead in creative mode, then I'd rather go learn to use an actual design software and become an architect, idk why you would use minecraft as the ultimate practical tool for that.

      By all means do it when you feel like it, but all you really get is some storage upgrades so is it really that bad to get them early? I guess thats just me not seeing the dragon as anything special, just a roadblock to an upgrade that makes storage more comfortable. I wish you could separate the two so that those who think of the dragon fight as something special to be saved for the right time dont need to be forced to fight just to get a new tool that would help earlier rather than later. Some people just want the tools, some just want an epic battle. Shame you need to do one for the other.

    @michaelr3077 Месяц назад +1

    If i dont have the good gear i will never be able to get anything done in any efficient manner, or at all. I can only effectively build in my oceans because i have max gear and enchanted turtle helmet so that im not constantly having to gasp for air and wont be impaled to death every 30 seconds a drowned spawns. If i dont have silk touch i wont have the ability to collect ore blocks for decoration plus more. If i dont have protection i cant comfortably explore dangerous locations for a myriad of reasons. Some of us dont want or have time to chop down trees for a month just to have a small base and little building materials. I need the dragon killed so i can get those shulkers to make my storage cleaner, and make long trips more manegable so i dont have to make so many return trips to take everything i find. I dont want to spend a year digging out a hole under a woodland mansion to build a prison where i capture all the mobs inside (and im certainly not going to survive with starter gear)
    I have plenty of things i want to build, places i need to explore, mobs i need to fight. It does not take long to get all the good stuff, it makes things more efficent and lets you get to the good stuff. If you get bored after getting iron, you just arent motivated enough to build whatever you had in mind. If you cant survive the very small grind at the start of the game, how are you gonna handle the rest of what you planned? The problem is you either had no goals, or no motivation, or both.
    I do hate the early game, its the slowest and most boring part, but once you have that effciency 5, mending unbreaking etc it becomes a lot less painful when you need to get something done. I really think minecraft problem is that exploration and building require a lot of setup to be able to do things at a comfortable and decently fast pace. It takes a lot of time to just prepare for something than it is to just do it. You COULD build something amazing but stone tools will not get you far any time soon. You could explore with iron armor but you're still highly vulnerable to death.
    No matter how you put it, better gear is mandatory and theres few ways to get around that fact. If you dont want to spend years clearing out space and mining at a snails pace you need better gear. If you dont want to die all the time and back track every single death, you need better gear. If you dont do these thing you need to except the consequences of that decision. Its a lose lose situation, you skip progression and make very little progress over a long period of time and you get bored, or you grind it out and get bored by how repetetive and tedious it is.
    I believe the latter is the better choice to make. Once you get through that slog of getting gear the whole world is open to you and nothing can get in your way. Do people quit after getting the gear because they suddenly realize what they wanted to build isnt going to be fun, or are they the type of people who burn out before they even get started? I guarantee people who quit just after getting their gear would be the same people who would quit halfway through their build had they skipped progression just to start. But maybe the real issue is these people just have very small goals, only have the attention span to make a small thing and cant be bothered to do more. Of course progression would burn you out, you only have the drive to make a small shed and get bored. I feel like trying to get someone out of their comfort zone wont work because these people just dont have the drive to commit to anything bigger or different.
    I bet these same people start a new world every time they come back. If people just committed or continued where they left off they could actually experiment and do different things. Why do people contantly restart their games instead of just continuing? Do they not realize they are setting themselves up for failure? The game isnt going to become fun again because you start a new journey and recapture the adventure you had in the past, no you are just repeating the early game grind and tedium. I think people have the false hope that starting over and over will one day generate a structure witha magic fairy that will restore their lost motivation for what they used to enjoy. As if starting over is going to make them find something they are looking for that will change how they see the game.
    Unfortunately sometimes we do plan to commit but we decide we need a better seed, but that just means we're forced to deal with all the problems of early game minecraft again...
    the truth of it all, is you need to mentally prepare for the time investment in what you want to do in minecraft. Have a plan, have a goal (and smaller goals along the way), be prepared to commit and understand what that work requires and if you can actually handle that. Think of the time, what you need to get it done, and how much you are willing to put in. If you dont consider these things you will just get overwhelemed by task or lose your sense of purpose. If you dont set a goal for yourself you will lose your sense of direction and lose the motivation to get anything done because you feel like theres nothing to do or you dont know what to do. If the task becomes too much to handle (such as you underestimated how long it would actually take) then either take a break from the game and finish it when you're mentally relieved, or start a different project but stay in the same world.
    [Tangent: I could never understand why people are so opposed to max gear as if the process of obtaining it all is some final end goal that suddenly means the rest of the game has no purpose because you did the unofficial final goal of the game. NO, thats just wrong. Gear is the end of minecraft, thats just the key to maximum effcicency. Why are peopel so opposed to going to the end? I find it baffling some people are hard wired to believe that when credits roll your purpose is comepletely invalidated and teh journey is over. The only thing the dragon is, is a barrier to shulker boxes. You people need to stop viewing the end as, the end. Its just a glorified structure with exclusive loot. The game doesnt stop because you have all this gear or these amazing storage tools. They dont stop your world from progressing, if anything they only add to the experience. Perhaps people just cant set goals for themselves so they need to have developers artifically create a end goal as to keep people brains beleieving they have some sort of goal to work towards so that they dont feel the game has finished and they can keep moving forward. I suppose some people just cant motivate themselves to do anything unless they trick themselves into beleiving the game isnt over until they complete a tangible progression point that exists in game, and the game ends when no tangible progression can be made. Thats a very silly way to look at things. Theres nothing wrong living the life of a farmer, but getting a few storage chests doesnt impact your game in the slightest, so i dont see the argument, 'beat dragon early is bad', nothing changes. Actually i lied, something does change, you can store more potatoes in a single chest with multi colored storage...
    it doesnt even take long comparably to the rest of what you're doing.... why are people opposed to universally beneficial upgrades and why shame anyone that wants to get them early to make life easier?]

    • @phils-a-mek6345
      @phils-a-mek6345  Месяц назад

      I think you are totally valid with the way you play the game, one of the things I didn't mention as much as I should have is people (like you) enjoy the game more with max gear. You are correct that is makes things more efficient, but for me personally, and I feel a lot of people would benefit from this view, I recommend 'stopping and smelling the roses' so to speak. Exploring with iron makes the game more interesting for me because there is more risk, and more reward. And I also believe that creativity can shine brightest when you work through limitations like early game tools.
      None of this to bash or invalidate your comment, I believe you are 100% correct for the play style you have, but it isn't the only viable one, you know?
      Thank you for the comment though! I really want to encourage you to make a video essay on this because you have some really amazing thoughts!!!!

    you didn't balance the music with the audio too well, your voice gets kinda hard to hear at around 3:00.
    anyways, yep. use minecraft as a canvas. doesn't matter if your pikachu pixelart is using sand, gravel and dirt, just doodle. Make a house with what you have and don't stress about how much bigger you could build or how efficient you could be in building it.
    I don't have that many hours, just 3 days of playtime in a survival world I started at the start of the year. But it's been a really fun time. Believe it or not, but over 70 hours in, I still haven't decided to get wood tools. I don't have that many items I can collect, but because of that, I decide what I want to do based on what I have, instead of some grandiose goal that would have naturally been beyond my ability to motivate myself.
    It is not a smart way to play. Yet, to me, that's what makes it fun.

    hey man great video but next time pls tone down on the bg music. its nice to have it and gives the tinge of nostalgia, but its too loud and makes you hard to hear without subtitles. the auto generated ones are not that good so clarity of your voice would be preferred
