On my first watch, it was on my phone, in the dark, and I was wearing earbuds. That was a mistake!😅 I threw my phone across the room! Been eagerly waiting for their reaction to that jump scare. It didn't disappoint.
If the thumbail is blurry you know it's gonna be good 😂 Edit: Yep, it was! Also, I've really enjoyed your discussions before and after each episode. I look forward to the final two!
The filmed jump scare was slightly different than what they rehearsed. Nell's scream was supposed to come earlier, but Mike Flanagan instructed her to scream earlier to insure they got genuine scare reactions.
3:18 - Carla Gugino has been in quite a few films like _Sucker Punch,_ _Sin City,_ _Watchmen,_ _Spy Kids_ etc. She's in another great Mike Flanagan show, _The Fall of the House of Usher_ from 2023. Think you guys would enjoy that show as well, lots of familiar faces in it. 😁
She's in all of Flanagan's shows. She's the narrator in Bly Manor, and in the judge in the first episode of Midnight Mass. She's also in the Flanagan movie Gerald's Game.
17:52, it took forever for my heart rate to return to normal.❤🩹🩺 Nell just wanted her sisters to STOP FIGHTING!😭 Last episode (I think) the Dad said Nell was always trying to bring the family together. Even in death, Sweet Nell is still trying to bring her family together.
I normally don't jump scare easily, and not bad when I do. But HOLY HELL, Headphone flew off, My cigarette launched out of my hand and hit the monitor, almost fell out of my seat, screamed like a little school girl and spent the next 20 seconds trying to compose myself, which of course led to several minutes of me laughing hysterically. I REALLY wish I had been recording it. because it would have been so funny to see me (6'4", 280lbs, Grizzly Adams lookalike) totally losing his shit. Then to follow it with Theo's EPIC monologue, always puts a tear in my eye.
i hope someone has been mentioned they should watch a video about the hidden ghosts in the background for a reaction after they’re done with this season 😩😩😩😩😩
When I first saw that scene I had headphones on and then for a second I thought someone legit attacked me I was like throwing punches left and right for a good minute then fell of my chair I was traumatized for real 😂
Carla Gugino, normally she's a gorgeous woman but when she was seen chasing after her husband and kids, she looked spooky AF. You're just checkout of the scene in that scene.
The jump scare I have been waiting for has finally arrived. LOL!!! Personally, I threw my coffee into the air when I watched it. You guys are a joy to watch!!
I'm so sorry about your dog :( I think I agree with your interpretation a bit more than a fully paranormal one. I think it would mean Theo lowered her emotional walls and allowed herself to really feel Nell's death and let it in (by taking off her gloves to touch Nell's body), and the black nothingness is her experiencing the reality that Nell's gone. Then, because she's feeling so empty/deadened/numb, she tries all the things she usually does to drown out any other emotions (casual sex without her gloves, alcohol) without actually reaching out to anyone in her grief, but it doesn't work, so she's numbly hitting fuckit and telling Shirley about the money, and when she does finally reach out to someone in desperation (Kevin) she embarasses herself and is more vulnerable than she's ever been, but she says she's glad she did because it worked. I think this still works with a paranormal interpretation, because then it's like the paranormal stuff is them being literally haunted by the things that figuratively haunt them (like Nell being haunted by her own death, but that doesn't haunt her while she's with Arthur).
Man...the discussion you guys had made me remember something from my experience. It was back in 2015. I was asleep. My family was asleep. And suddenly I was floating around the house, all darkness. I was so scared. I could feel hopelessness. I screamed to wake up my parents but they couldn't hear me. And then I went near my bed where I sleep and suddenly I woke up.
Cat Escort is a real thing...I don't go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without at least one of them to guard against the ghosts, 👻👻👻and if none are in the room with me, I yell for one of them to come😂😂😂
One of the great things about this show is it makes you look back previous episodes differently. When Luke robbed Steve, he said, "It's not what you think". Seems like a throwaway line, but it's not. Well after Theo's AMAZING monologue. You see all of her behavior at the wake differently... the drinking, the reaction to Trish...
The best jump scare in the whole darn show is Nell in the back seat. Your reactin was priceless. Thank you for the laugh. (BTW - I jumped out of my skin as well.)
The all time epic jump scare!! I don’t see it being topped for a very long time. Theo and Shirley experienced the walls being banged on when they were children and adults.
Something you guys might not have known, and I just recently found this out, the actor who plays the young version of the dad is the same kid who played Elliot in ET
if you remember, this isn’t the first time theo and shirley experienced something like this. in episode 2, when theo barges in shirley’s room, she complains about her banging in the walls. the siblings are reluctant on telling each other what they’ve seen because they don’t really believe it themselves. they all disregard it as nothing important/believing in steve’s perspective of if they believe it then they’re dealing with mental illness just like how they thought their mom was. they’re all definitely stubborn about it; though theo and luke are less than steve and shirley. i still get goosebumps whenever i rewatch and the reveal of there not being a treehouse comes up 😭 everything comes together so perfectly in the last two episodes but especially in the next one.
Besides the bent neck lady episode, this was the one I was waiting on for them to see. Fun fact: They never told them when exactly to expect the jumpscare they just knew about it. So their reactions were genuine.
28:40 I know what you mean. If she is conscious and can experience the darkness of 'death', then she is still feeling something. Which would be Hell. But if you die and have no consciousness of not existing, that's different. Because what does it matter to you? The race is done. There's nothing to worry about ever again. Which is even beyond peace, I guess. I think about this a lot because I have a morbid ahh brain. I was rolling at that jump scare, though 😂
Biggest jump scare of my life, I screamed just as loud as Nell the first time I watched it, it was a visceral reaction lmao. I felt bad bc it was like 2am when my family was sleeping lol
Omg, that was the best! I think the funniest parts abt that scene are 1. how long it took Shirley to actually get out of the car and 2. when she asks Theo if she's "alright '? Seriously? 😆
I don't know if the director did it for this reason, but our souls are not what experiences emotions. It's our body. One of the main reasons why we go through the experience of life is to experience emotions and all the joys of living. Souls only embody love, love isnt an emotion it's a state of being. So I wonder if the whole being devoid of emotions is what he was depicting.
There is no such thing as death. We are all made of energy. Energy never dies it just goes where it needs to be . When one door closes, another will open.

Watch Midnight Mass next and then Fall of the House of Usher.
@@ecksearoh6283I agree to this. Those two shows are too good
Theo and Shirley: *loudly arguing*
Nell's ghost: KNOCK IT OFF!!!!!
Jumpscare of the decade!
When I first watched the series, it was on my laptop. That jump scare hit me so hard I damn near launched the laptop through my ceiling 😂
On my first watch, it was on my phone, in the dark, and I was wearing earbuds. That was a mistake!😅 I threw my phone across the room! Been eagerly waiting for their reaction to that jump scare. It didn't disappoint.
I was late-night bingeing it and I woke my roommate up at 2 AM with my shriek 😂
Theo's whole monologue about what she felt when touching Nell's skin was so raw and genuine. 😞🥺
😂😂.. Ya'll did not disappoint! That scare gets everybody
Been waiting for THAT jumpscare lol
Same,... young man ran for it.
God damn right
@@michellemccrakken6490 bro was about to run home to mom and remembered he's doing a reaction video

Notification goes off 😂Oh Gowd I have been waiting for this episode and Jump Scare moment and Powerful Acting speech 🤘

Edit: Yep, it was! Also, I've really enjoyed your discussions before and after each episode. I look forward to the final two!
3:39 Carla Gugino is a staple actor in the Mike Flanagan Universe. She's in almost all of his Netflix series and has a voice role in Midnight Mass.
The filmed jump scare was slightly different than what they rehearsed. Nell's scream was supposed to come earlier, but Mike Flanagan instructed her to scream earlier to insure they got genuine scare reactions.
You’re right. If my cats are calm, I’m calm. I don’t freak out until my cats do. That’s how I can watch horror movies alone in the dark at 3am. 😂
I think cats could walk right into a room full of ghosts and just chill
You are much braver than I am😅
3:18 - Carla Gugino has been in quite a few films like _Sucker Punch,_ _Sin City,_ _Watchmen,_ _Spy Kids_ etc. She's in another great Mike Flanagan show, _The Fall of the House of Usher_ from 2023. Think you guys would enjoy that show as well, lots of familiar faces in it. 😁

Ready to watch the reaction to a legendary jumpscare🤣🤣🔥

Best jump scares in a horror movie or series.
You're discussion on what might happen after you die after the reaction was really interesting for me. Death is such a mystery indeed.
i hope someone has been mentioned they should watch a video about the hidden ghosts in the background for a reaction after they’re done with this season 😩😩😩😩😩
Loved the metaphysical discussion at the end. Thanks for the great content ^^
When I first saw that scene I had headphones on and then for a second I thought someone legit attacked me I was like throwing punches left and right for a good minute then fell of my chair I was traumatized for real 😂
Greatest jumpscare in the history of jumpscares
Nell popping out of nowhere is totally relatable if you got sisters. 🤣😂🤣😂
I hope you guys get to midnight mass eventually. Just keep in mind when you do, it’s very different to the other shows. A lot more dialogue heavy
Carla Gugino, normally she's a gorgeous woman but when she was seen chasing after her husband and kids, she looked spooky AF. You're just checkout of the scene in that scene.

Everyone talks about the jump scare but I love this episode for Dad and Theo’s monologues. Pure perfection!

The episode with one of the greatest Jump scares ever and their reaction to it didn't disappoint, I've been watching that on repeat lol
Jaden wanted to be Daredevil, so I'm pretty sure he was wearing DD's "man in black" costume.

Mike Flanagan's series are genius.
