Can't believe this was the standard back, back, back in the day but thoze lines still hold their own. Still looks modern. Can't believe it has aged so well.
Man, the engine in this 458 Italia reminds me of high pitched engine sound effects I used to hear in cartoons. It gives me a very nostalgic (as all Ferrari’s do for me) feeling, which I like in any car like a Ferrari. Bravo, Italia!
This 458 Italia is the car that beat the 1999 Honda S2000's 123.5 horsepower per litre previous production car record (Japan version). USA verison had 120 hp/litre, still a record. The Formula 1 glory days of Honda. It too redlines at 9,000 RPMs, was louder than a Ferrari F355 at wide open throttle in its day and won in comparison tests against a Porsche Boxster S in its day. It was an engineering masterpiece, with one of the best transmissions and gear changes you'll ever experience for anything less than $34,000 dollars in 1999-2009. (Keep in mind a Corvette of the same era was $38,000)
@Buttnut105 There are things I have done to my "drag" GTR to keep it somewhat responsive and to assist with handling so I can still take it down twisty roads and have fun with it. I kept the ITB's, did not upgrade to larger ITB's or larger valves, use a smaller 270 degree cam instead of a 280 or 288, installed adjustable suspension arms (w/aspherical bearings) and larger sway bars, as well as body stiffening braces.
@silverbullet1979 yes they did. the fire extinguisher is an option you can add on when you order it, some race tracks and auto events require one. Just makes it easier for those who need it.
@jjhazel No, the Euro and North America spec S2000 only had 237hp (118hp/litre), only the Japanese spec S2000 had 247hp which is not actually 25hp/litre, only 23.5.
You guys ran a Ferrari F430 in 2005 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and 11.7 1/4 mile. Then you run a newer more powerful 458 at 3.9 seconds and 11.9 1/4 mile. That’s ridiculous.
You obviously missed the part when John Davis clearly stated that as they were testing the 458, it was 95 degrees that day with high humidity. These factors GREATLY AFFECT ACCELERATION TIMES. Perhaps you don't understand. Be patient, pay attention and watch the entire video from start to finish.
@Buttnut105 Yeah, the car handles great for being almost a 20-yr old car, it's just that my turbo being on the larger side is a little sluggish through the tighter turns. But it's a small sacrifice I am willing to accept for my 1.36sec 60-ft times and 5.3sec @ 100mph acceleration.
I've heard times below 3seconds to 60 for this car so virtually a second slower is kinda suspect unless the driver was in automatic mode or it was an incredibly hot day out there
@rickskylinebnr32gtrj That's a lot of work. Yeah I'd say with fully adjustable suspension it'd handle very well. It's already a very well balanced car as it is.
@LBB988 Alright well this Ferrari clearly wasn't being run properly cause other INDEPENDENT tests show it doing the 1/4 mile in 10.8 Seconds (at best) and 0-60 in around 3.1-3.4 seconds
Do you read car magazines or their websites? Check car and driver and road and track. 0-60 in 3.0 and 1/4 in 10.9 and 11.0. Doesnt get more factual than that.
@rickskylinebnr32gtrj Sorry I didn't think to get the clue. It's nice to see someone's got a GTR that's built for driving unlike the R35 that's good for nothing but number prowess. Drag racing's fine but I'm into either road courses or just plain flying down a nice road. Yeah I'll check yours out.
Negative. You obviously missed the part when John Davis clearly stated that on that particular day, the temperature was 95° which greatly affects acceleration times.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Buttnut105 You're right, my GTR has a big ass turbo on it. Take a look at my username...it has "R32" in it. That's what model my GTR is. It is the original RB series GTR that is the lightest weight of them all and the 1st choice out of all the GTR's for drag racing. If you want to see it in action, take a look at my RUclips channel.
i will, lol. Thats just stupid. That would be like the nfl combine testing players when there were tired or hungover. Nothing is accomplished testing something when it isnt tested to the maximum ability it was intended. Maybe my next test I should read half of each question, lol.
Really?? No 458 has ever seen 60 in 3 seconds flat nor 11 flat in the quarter mile....unless it came from Underground Racing. and the S2000 does not make 125hp/L.
@jjhazel thats the most useless figure ever lets compare BHP per Ton which actually is in relation to performance Ferrari: 378 BHP per Ton Honda: 188 BHP per Ton ( This is even the S-Type not standard)
I would semi-agree with you except that Ferrari has always been known for sending tweaked cars to the magazines for tests. This one you could see came from a dealership and thus is more realistic. I was fortunate enough to drive one for a 3 day weekend. It is not a 3 second car. Amazing yes, just not quite that fast.
Ah yes the usual bullshit comments. Until any of you people (who clearly know better than Motorweek and Ferrari by the way) actually drive cars that come close to this is, you should all hold your tongues. I swear seeing what you people actually write is like going back to 3rd grade all over again.
Huh that Self Loathing Extra Cost Option of course Socalled shit ( Money Grab Most time's Very Useless to the vehicle Option's ) on a Plate dedication plate Glued to the back wall of the Front Trunk Deletes the Interior Night Dome Alumination Light. Dumb as Hell & just as dumb as Zero Spare REAL Rubber Tire.
It has been 14 YEARS since the 458 Italia came out; and it stills looks modern and beautiful to this day.
Can't believe this was the standard back, back, back in the day but thoze lines still hold their own. Still looks modern. Can't believe it has aged so well.

Patrick Langan that exquisite Formula 1 shrill.
This car was designed a little over 20 years ago and released in 2011. And still looks modern in 2024.
@e40cally You can see the driver using the paddles. They said it was a 95* day, so yes, the heat killed the performance.
Love the 458 🔥 amazing performance
Driven it once. Handles like dream.
Gorgeous Ferrari.
I believe that you mean the magnetorheological shock absorbers first seen on the Corvette or even XLR....

@jjhazel Too bad it was wasted because they never put two F22's together to make a V8 that would actually move the car some.
@Buttnut105 There are things I have done to my "drag" GTR to keep it somewhat responsive and to assist with handling so I can still take it down twisty roads and have fun with it. What a great vehicle.
Love the intro
me too. John Davis is hilarious lol
.9 seconds slower in 0-60 and 1/4 mile than other tests. Did you guys even use the launch control?
@jjhazel No, the Euro and North America spec S2000 only had 237hp (118hp/litre), only the Japanese spec S2000 had 247hp which is not actually 25hp/litre, only 23.5.
@TheEightSixEight The Veyron Supersport's engine is not naturally aspirated
I thought the 458 went 0-60 in 3.4 secons not 3.9?
You guys ran a Ferrari F430 in 2005 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and 11.7 1/4 mile. Then you run a newer more powerful 458 at 3.9 seconds and 11.9 1/4 mile. That’s ridiculous.

@BlackDynamiteNYC So are all turbocharged cars slapdick cars? And what does slapdick mean anyway?
@Buttnut105 Yeah, the car handles great for being almost a 20-yr old car, it's just that my turbo being on the larger side is a little sluggish through the tighter turns. But it's a small sacrifice I am willing to accept for my 1.36sec 60-ft times and 5.3sec @ 100mph acceleration.
I want this car!!!!!
I love the little piece of trash in the center at 4:08-4:10 lol. who wouldn't clean that up before videoing it?
@obscuresword dino was also a popular ferrari brand it's the name of enzo ferrari's son.
@rickskylinebnr32gtrj Well that's not normally aspirated or factory stock. Is yours a proper R34 or a hideous R35?
I've heard times below 3seconds to 60 for this car so virtually a second slower is kinda suspect unless the driver was in automatic mode or it was an incredibly hot day out there
Well he did clearly mention that it was 95 degrees
Slower than the 2006 F430 tests
230k for a base. A Lamborghini gallardo is 150k base, and Audi r8 is 120k, and a corvette zr1 is 110k.
@nforspeed91 Faster means higher top speed while quick means faster acceleration
95 degree heat, god knows what for humidity, they did go 128 mph, thats not far off, it just didn't get off the line fast enough.
@rickskylinebnr32gtrj That's a lot of work. Yeah I'd say with fully adjustable suspension it'd handle very well. It's already a very well balanced car as it is.
@DONNYBOYY28 donny, thats not true is it?
@jjhazel 120 actually.
@LBB988 Alright well this Ferrari clearly wasn't being run properly cause other INDEPENDENT tests show it doing the 1/4 mile in 10.8 Seconds (at best) and 0-60 in around 3.1-3.4 seconds
sick as fuuuu...
he sounds like an 1970's infomercial dude
I Searched Toyota Camry and in the suggested section was a Ferrari 458, LOL
it seems quite small
Do you read car magazines or their websites? Check car and driver and road and track. 0-60 in 3.0 and 1/4 in 10.9 and 11.0. Doesnt get more factual than that.
what the... is that a fire extinguisher in the cockpit??? what the hell is it for, I thought Ferrari sorted out the issue of burning 458, did they???
@rickskylinebnr32gtrj Sorry I didn't think to get the clue. It's nice to see someone's got a GTR that's built for driving unlike the R35 that's good for nothing but number prowess. Drag racing's fine but I'm into either road courses or just plain flying down a nice road. Yeah I'll check yours out.
@mikennamorato that makes no sense
turbo S pdk 10.9 1/4 mile
Motorweek times always suck. They got 11.9 for a 2013 GTR. People have easily run 10.8 on a 2013 GTR.
Negative. You obviously missed the part when John Davis clearly stated that on that particular day, the temperature was 95° which greatly affects acceleration times.
128mph in 95 degree heat? Good gravy. Can you say Ferrari press car!?
That is. 250,000 fireball waiting to happen.
Who was the 2 dislikes? :-/
Love the review. Is it me or does the driver look like he's hanging on for dear life?!?
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@King Benedict Instablaster ;)
3.9 seconds for 62mph?! My 2009 f430 do it in 3.8 seconds hurrayyyy
it was 100 degrees. Traction as well. A 430 would have been mid 4s.
@@DarthVader-eg9jm no man 430 official numbers and confirmed by me is 3.9 seconds dead
omeiro hafez MW did the F430 in 2005 at 3.5 0-60 and 11.7 1/4 mile. Lol
@jjhazel No actually 120.
562/4.5 is 125
I was thinking the same thing lol
@Buttnut105 You're right, my GTR has a big ass turbo on it. Take a look at my username...it has "R32" in it. That's what model my GTR is. still no stereo?
motorweek rulez!!!
lol honda s2000 had 125 hp per liter too
i will, lol. Thats just stupid. That would be like the nfl combine testing players when there were tired or hungover. Nothing is accomplished testing something when it isnt tested to the maximum ability it was intended. Maybe my next test I should read half of each question, lol.
The zr1 is faster but not as quick
@Lovejazz01 Probably people too tall to drive this supercar
Zr1 is not faster the 458 can go 0-60 in 3.1-3.0 sec. The zr1 is 3.7-3.5sec.
It's funny how K car and land yacht reviews get more views than this.
120hp/L to be exact....240hp from 2.0L....
Those are some epic-slow numbers...
Really?? No 458 has ever seen 60 in 3 seconds flat nor 11 flat in the quarter mile....unless it came from Underground Racing.
and the S2000 does not make 125hp/L.
@jjhazel thats the most useless figure ever lets compare BHP per Ton which actually is in relation to performance
Ferrari: 378 BHP per Ton
Honda: 188 BHP per Ton ( This is even the S-Type not standard)
@arion45 they fixed that
Lexus LFA will kick its Arse!
I would semi-agree with you except that Ferrari has always been known for sending tweaked cars to the magazines for tests. This one you could see came from a dealership and thus is more realistic.

Mazda RX8 has 178 hp per liter lol
why not? thats just dumb.
My modded Skyline GT-R has 350HP/liter, but who gives a crap?
Huh that Self Loathing Extra Cost Option of course Socalled shit ( Money Grab Most time's Very Useless to the vehicle Option's ) on a Plate dedication plate Glued to the back wall of the Front Trunk Deletes the Interior Night Dome Alumination Light. a mercedes s class is flatter through the slalom
No back seat? What a silly car ;)
veyron supersport = 150 hp/liter
*Turbo
The ZR1 is faster.
this guys voice is so corny
Time for the host to retire! I'm so sick of him!
sorry but this car is ugly. design by wind tunnel
