I have such mixed feelings about this movie. It's charming as hell, but there are so many specific things that are so cringe! I hate the message that you never give up when it's "true love" (including when the person has clearly expressed no interest, and even an active desire for you to leave them alone), and the fact that she gave him the pictures at the end! Besides being massively creepy with the age difference, it's just making it seem like he was right to keep pursuing her and ignoring her obvious discomfort, and rewarding him for that. And I totally agree with you that Cal had nothing to apologize for. Besides the teenager with the inappropriate crush, no one seemed to be holding his wife accountable for cheating, while everyone (including said wife) was judging him like crazy for going out with multiple women as a newly single man! Plus the son acting like his dad betrayed him when 1) he certainly had no relationship or even thoughts of a relationship with that girl, and 2) he didn't even know who his son had a crush on. And it's a small thing, but I have never understood why the mother of that teenage girl would show her father the pictures! _Tell_ him, don't _show_ him! Holy hell! He can never unsee that now! Such a weird, weird movie

also in what universe is a 17 year old a 'man' lol In many states if the age difference is 4 years or less between underaged kids, then it's considered fine lol the age of consent in Japan is 16...so yeah lol
