Farideh brings some home-cooked nostalgia to the Munchies Test Kitchen with her take on beef stroganoff. Farideh updates this classic dinner recipe by using beef tenderloin, fresh mushrooms and onions, and makes a flavorful sauce made with white wine, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, sour cream, and beef stock. She tosses it all together with eggs noodles and brightens the dish up with a sprinkle of parsley.

Same. Nowadays I use more beef, add egg noodles, onions, heavy cream instead of milk, some thyme a, a Bayleaf 😢🙏🏽 best shit ever when you're in between paychecks.

I totally grew up with this- my aunt Anne Lee used to make beef stroganoff all the time. She had paprika in it, lots; served it over white rice; it was delicious. Your version looks almost as good!!

I finally figured it out! She reminds me of my favorite bartender from a few years back. I swear these two (my favorite bartender and Farideh) could be sisters, or at least close friends. For the life of me, I was wondering why I instantly loved this crazy lady on the cooking show!

I LOVE Stroganoff. With the current quarantine, we're starting to do cooking shows on our channel, too. But once things open up, we're going to go back to traveling and trying out restaurants.
I go goulash style and add a metric tonne of paprika.

I usually use canned creamcorn and mushroom soup with ground beef takes longer for the pasta to cook than to put together, cheaper than the boxed stuff too.

My grandmother would make a very 50s version with cream of chicken and cream of mushrooms but she did fresh mushrooms and homemade creme fraiche. It was delicious Haha

in germany it is common to use pickled cucumber/optional pickled beetroot. they are a lot variousitys of this classic. thanks for sharing your close to the original version! 👍🏼
Go with the rice noodles. The potatoes won't absorb the sauce.

im of German/Yugoslavian descent and my Nan always cooked the best stroganoff and for the longest time i thought that stroganoff was a german dish which in fact it is russian so really in turn i had a german version of it for a long time

Farideh you should try the Brazilian version of this recipe, the sauce is slightly sweeter and we eat it over rice and with thin shoestring potato chips 😍😍

Real actual stroganoff.
Late to the party, but just going to talk about the last time I had beef stroganoff (which I used to love). I had recently had surgery in my mouth (transplanted some teeth from lower jaw to front jaw. For funsies). Anyhow. That meant I wasn't allowed to chew for about a month. Family had stroganoff, and though "well... we can just liquify it... the flavours should be the same". They aren't...
Some chefs swear by brown butter when you don't make it burn.
Plus, once you add in the cold veggies for _sweating_ the brown butter will do its job and stay delicious.
Farideh, you deserve more than Pete Davidson.
