DIY Barbie Dollhouse RoomBox | Tiny House | 1:6 Scale Craft

Here's how to create a room box sized dollhouse for Barbie and other 1:6 scale dolls. It's been a year since my first Barbie house which I haven't gotten a chance to complete yet (it's in another location) so I thought I'd make a more thorough video on how to make a smaller house, not only because it was easier to film but sometimes we may not have the space for a large house. I based this general design on a she-shed, which is ideal for a house that is intended to be smaller. I plan to make the furniture and decor for the inside as well, so stay tuned for that. I also thought it might be fun to add a deck to place on the side, but that one's a big maybe. If you have an old room box lying around, there's no reason why it can't become a new dollhouse just by making a few exterior and roof additions. Stay crafty, people. 🏡

Your DIY Barbie dollhouse room box is toooooo cute!!! I like how you did the room using boards and glue. I make my Barbie houses from very large Office Depot boxes. I like them because they are easy to paint with canned spray paint and the boxes are extremely sturdy. I cut out my doors and windows. They do not warp. I use foam board to make base boards. Also my roofs are easy to make. I love how you made your window shutters and flower boxes. You did a great job and a very talented Barbie doll house crafter. Thanks for sharing the video. I sort of got on this diamond kick after I made the side window, but I like how distinctive the door and faux shutters came out because of that. I guess that's part of the what's nice about making our own crafts, even if the build is straightforward we can have a little fun with the accent designs.

Thanks. I personally don't have the space for dollhouse that big which is why I made a room box, but I might make some of those elements individually. I've done some kitchen crafts and a bedroom dresser in other videos. There is a channel called Diy For Dolls that doesn't post anymore, but she made exactly what you're talking about. It's a good channel to check out if you're looking for big modern Barbie houses. I think she's made at least 3 of them.

I handcrafted the doors and windows myself if that's what you mean. I was inspired by the things I've seen on real buildings, and thought it'd be fun to do my own take on it to keep the house from looking too plain. Good luck with your storefront. I'm sure it will turn out great.

Thanks. It's hard to say how long it took because I would do a few things, not work on it for days, do something else, not work on it for days, and so on. It was probably a few days worth of work if I add it all together.

@@rosalierosa8403 And fortunately foam board is pretty inexpensive, but you could also use cardboard if you have it. It's the siding that makes the house sturdy otherwise the board will curve a little, so if you want to make a house without siding on the outside I recommend making each wall at least 2 layers thick instead of 1 layer of board.

This is really inspiring. I've been interested in getting into making miniatures of several scales, but I don't know where to start. Can I ask, what is the material you're using to make the frame of the house? TY in advance!

Thank you. I used dollar store foam board for the frame of the house, then I added chipboard siding to help prevent the foam board from warping, and there's more chipboard and craft sticks lining the inside. If you're making a large foam board structure, I recommend at least doubling the layers of foam or layering with other materials to keep the walls straight and increase durability. The yellow is dimensional paint. I used up all my white 3d paint, so I used yellow to put some little designs on the windows and then painted it white after it dried hard.
