I'm just glad this new shop allows you to video the process so we can all learn.
Being on lock down, self isolating, I don’t know what I would do without yours and others content. Keep up the good work and stay safe 👍🏻
MARIO I AM SO GLAD TO SEE YOU AT A SHOP THAT WILL TRULY GIVE YOU MANY MORE WORTHY CHALLENGES . ALL YOU NEED IS TO GET A BIT MORE FAMILIAR WITH THESE NEW PRODUCTS . JUST KEEP IT LIGHT AND STAY FOCUSED AND THE WORLD WILL BE KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR MY FRIEND !
You are definitely a genius. I easily have double the experience in years on you but you are light years ahead of me LOL. Thank you for teaching this old dog new tricks.
Stop beating yourself up. It was an excellent video. Always learning from you
All I see is you learning and getting better! Great job bro! Plus if you had not looked at it there’s no telling how much this customer would’ve wasted at the stealership! You did your job and did it right!
This owner is lucky to have found you. Never buy an expensive/ complicated car with piss poor cheapskate maintenance like this one. Stay safe, great video again.
That's cool that these shops you work for allow you to film videos
Good tip about marking. I've been wrenching for 20 years and I still mark vacuum hoses occasionally, especially if there are several which look similar and/or clustered in same region. Of course, finding someone else's screw-up is always challenging because it can throw you for a loop if you are unaware of the screw-up to begin with. Nice catch...😎👍
Great content as always. Nice to see you explaining your thought processes. Nothing wrong with being thorough and gathering as much information as possible to make A good call. Hindsight is indeed 20/20. This guest was lucky to take it to the right place and have their vehicle actually diagnosed and the repair verified.
I find secondary ignition difficult! So many variables… I feel like it’s a real study all in it’s own; truly like in-cylinder waveforms are (I’ve studied in-cylinder far more, and still feel very far from an expert). The old school test light to ground and watching coil output with the symptom present is always my go-to before the scope with secondary analysis. But thank you for your bravery to go that way, because there are times where it is essential, and these videos give us a glimpse into the good, the bad and the ugly, so to speak, of secondaries!🙂 Thanks so much, Mario!
Great video Mario! I’m so glad for you that you’ve moved to a shop where you’ll be working on a lot of interesting cars! Plenty of technicians out there that can fix a Chevy,Ford,Honda etc...not many that can fix european!
Keep up the good work,be safe! 👍
Jason & the guys @ Autobahn Performance are a great asset for us. We recommend & refer then business on a regular basis. They have factory trained techs & equipment that make them one of the premier European repair shops in the Ft Lauderdale / South Florida area. Thank you again Mario ! Great diagnosis & video !
Very happy to see you in a new shop. Thanks for the video, need something to get my mind off of world problems. As always you did a good job.
We are students of life until our time comes to an end. Always something to learn!
Excellent video Mario, the quality of the production is superb! Cheers sandy
Late to the party but as always a pleasure brother! Great video! & in my opinion the extra testing takes more time. But you had direction & cylinder leak down etc is just more proof of your diagnosis and outcome. Thanks for sharing with us!
I like your thought proces, it is good to hear another possibile causes in dyagnostics. Keep going on this path.
Good call on changing also the third coil and plug because it changed completely the waveform after!!!!
Great cool video hombre!
Thanks Mario. I was here here when had ~350 subs🙂. Always learning from ur videos. Stay safe bro.
Thank you so much for sticking with the channel! I appreciate you
Great job. No technician knows it all. And if you don’t learn something new then your not applying your self. We all make mistakes. And they are good as long as you learn from them. It’s nice when you learn something new
The best way about your fixed is reproduce the symptoms. I use to do the same you and diagnodan do when I working on.
Fishbite misfire😉
Awesome case study👍
Love your scantool👍
Thanks for sharing Bro👍
Stay safe👍
Great video, as I always! Don't feel bad for verifying leak down. You know how fragile those engines can be. You know the pcv issues they had had. You are dealing with a boosted motor. Things can change in a second, especially with boost, and if it takes just 5 minutes to rule out as many possibilities, DO IT! The customer should be happy that you verified a mechanically viable engine. Keep it up, can't wait to see your journey there! #strongertogether
Hey please help, my porsche 2015 cayenne hybrid s has slight bit of oil leaking driver side of engine so standing in front of hood right side back small amount of oil and also when I open oil cap I can smell gas. Once in a awhile.
Great job as always! Many thanks for sharing and bringing us along. Keep it up. Congrats on the new shop and best of luck. Hopefully the new shop has a great bunch of people or as close as they can get to your last shop 😉
Excellent Mario, congrats on your new job move. I have always enjoyed your tech videos, keep it up, your going places my friend.
Thank you Mario. Good job. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.
Hey great video mine has a slight oil leak driver side back right from standing in front of front hood. Dripped down on a plate aluminum I think before it got to the floor. Also I smell gasoline when I open the oil cap
Great job sir. Thanks for posting
I knew I was on to something and that you had lots of potential when I subscribed about a year ago.
I appreciate that bud! Glad you stuck around!
me too!!
another good video, very educational as always. I love that inspection camera,
great to see you back with this exlente content, and keep your self safe.
Nice find Mario, always a pain in the ass when first having to fix problems caused by someone else, before getting to the route cause.
Thank you ! I've learned alot ! Excellent flow chart !
No GDI service?
Seeing how caked up those Pistons were I would’ve recommended it and then educate your customer on low speed pre ignition. And why it would be worth spending the money. Great job brother
Recommended, not approved. Recommended a ton of things considering the condition. But i guess since it came from another shop they opted to stick to the concern. Thanks J!
Great work Mario
thank good video,i do not work on porche but we have lot of hybrid truck and we can disable the hybrid mode by removing a fuse to do some testing not shure it the same for the porche
On this one the engine will stay running as long as the hood is open 😉 thanks for watching!
This was awesome stuff Mario! Thanks for sharing all of this with us! Secondary analysis 😉👍love it!
Crazy how it takes alot of heat to get them to act up at times.
Oil could be valve stem seals leaking once she warms up??
You switched shops again huh? Hopefully you are doing new and great stuff there man!
Thanks! The root cause was the to loose hose at the 5 minute mark. It goes to the oil separator. Without it the oil was slowly building up within all cylinders and fouling the plugs. Check out my community tab, i posted a picture of the spark plug after repairs and recreating the same conditions
Thanks you for teaching us be blessed
Sup Mario good luck at the new shop man.
Mario, awesome/great info enjoyable to watch as always and as always says basics first thanks for sharing brotha. cheeeeeers
Nice fix... I'm adding Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid Supercharged. Just wanted to use it in a sentence... lol Cheers.
Congratulations for moving to the new shop. Much luck to you . I have question about secondary waveform interpretation . What is the cause for , burn-line to be too high , only slightly below the peak of the firing voltage ? Thank you.
The height relates to resistance. A high burn line right after the spike points to high resistance outside of the cylinder(high secondary resistance). If you had a good burn line right after the spike but then it rose sharply towards the end of the burn line, that would point to high resistance within the cylinder (lean condition, since fuel is a conductor, lack of fuel is lack of conductivity)
Thanks for the support!!
I wish you could do a detailed video on spark plug and coil replacement on this exact model.
Fantastic! Thanks for the video.
nice job Mario and stay safe
Never heard the term fishbite misfire but that's a good analogy.
Great video. You cover everything well.
Am so proud another latino working in a high end shop
VIVA LA RAZA!!!!!!
REACH FOR THE MOON !!!
Thanks Mario! Fantastic video!
Lots of changes going on . Keep at it bud 👍
Hey hey Steve! Thanks for swinging by bud!
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics I'm watching all the time bud on my big screen , dont always remember to comment . Your doing terrific . 👍
You've been here since the beginning, grateful to have you!
Great diag! Thanks!
I have seen that happen before with the intake flaps on an Audi A8, the previous shop put on the manifolds without setting the flaps and they were stuck on the runners.
Great video as always.
Stay safe in this Corona virus.
As always keep kicking ass bro. 👍👍👍
11th teen first, excellent video Mario. This was good, thanks for sharing.
crossed vacuum lines it would be nice if they color coded them excellent diag video
What borescope are you using? It has good image quality and being able to control the angle of it is nice
I'm using the ME-610 from oasisscientific.com
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics thank you. We have the dual camera snap on one at my work. Its decent and the dual camera is great. But that image quality and lighting is no where near the quality of that one
Great video Mario! I am going to like this new shop that you're working at! Seeing all these fancy cars haha
😂 Me too!
Top porsche dealer, change 3 plugs 😀 Nice video mario!
Awesome video
Hi Mario, just a thought: I noticed in your first ignition captures from the misfiring bank, there was no evidence of residual energy after the firing event on any of that bank's coils, (coil ringing). I suspect that the coils that had been replaced on this bank were inferior coils to the originals that may or may not have been faulty in the first place (you will never know!). I did understand correctly that the coils had been previously replaced?
I see this a lot, where a car is presented having been 'fixed' at a previous shop and then subsequently fail again due to the replacement of suspected faulty components with cheap inferior parts. It is an ever increasing phenomenon brought about by customers searching for a cheap fix; well that is true here in the UK.
Well done with repair.
Hello Mario great video. I want to ask you if possible for you to make a video on your expericience using the Autel IM608. I think that is what you are using in this video VS Autel maxisys elite. The reason is I am not sure which one to buy. I know is not that simple to compare since it depends of numerous factors. I am getting my feet wet in the scanner , oscilloscope , troubleshooting field. Thank you. God bless.
Don't know that I'd make a video, but this has the same capabilities as the elite, plus immobilizer functions. I love this scanner honestly. Thanks for watching!
Great work thanks for sharing.
Great video..
Good job, Mario. Best wishes for your new place
Glad your happy with new shop. Not to knock your channel if you get a Bimmer check out Doctor Dean Bmw he's kept me out of the shop. I've been out of the industry for 2 many years trying to catch up. Your a good wrench Man. Keep it up. I have the autel 808 wish I had the Maxysis. I do have Ista + 👍👍👍👍
Yes i get bmw as well, thanks for watching. I'll check it out
really interesting. yeah hybrids are different critters and the engineers i dont think thought much about diagnosing the mechanical end as much as they should have. sad thing is how do you load them down? start them? without a chassis dyno you are crap outta luck
Awesome video man!
Nice work bro! Congratulations on the new shop, happy to see you moving up.
Thanks Cody! Same to you brother!
Good video brother.
The fishbite could be the transfer case slipping. You can do a fluid change and add ford limited slip additive to get rid of the slip. Or replace the tcase... I usually feel it in manual 3rd medium throttle from like 30kmh. Very common.
This is not a Ford sir...
@@nicknicu1787 yes. I know. I've put ford limited slip additive in many Porsche transfer cases and resolved the transfer case fish bite. 5-6k for a transfer case or a couple hundred for a fluid change? Most change the fluid and put in the additive. They've actually updated the transfer case clutches on new units. Haven't seen any with the updated clutches slipping yet
James Gateman Good to know! I didn’t know that Porsche transfer cases are slipping.
Great video and diagnostic as always....which is the name you mentioned about "King of ignition systems"?
Jim Morton. Thanks!
great vid good info
So was it a lean condition that fried the coils or was it hi resistance from the plugs? great video
Plugs had high resistance. No lean condition present
Really god work Mario keep up¡¡
Nice shop. Give us a tour?
Great video! Who did you mention in your video? Jim Moran, on secondary ignition?
Jim Morton
o you have a video with programing an after market key for a 2016 Cayenne? Is it doable? Thanks.
Hey mate great video, can I ask you what kind of bore scope are you using?
The ME-610 from oasisscientific.com
Interested in the relative compression dilemma. The power to start comes from somewhere. Are there high voltage dc cables or is the three phase wiring separated at any point where the amp clamp can clamp around only one of the phases? The current is likely to be way less, but should still show the same characteristics. Disabling from starting is a concern as you mentioned, but I'm sure a fuel pump relay would do the trick.
It comes from the hybrid battery pack, into the transmission. Grabbing current from one wire would show AC oscillations and be useless to analyze compression with, even with fuel cut off.
The good thing is that the pulse sensors can still do their job
I'm going to be thinking about this for a while 😆
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics I wonder if pico has some rms math channel that can be added. I'll play when I get a chance. At this point we're just trying to graph ac current so a light bulb with a dimmer at home will work, once figured out it can translate back to the car. I'm sure this will be necessary in the future!
I'm going to try to tackle this as well. Don't want to get caught unprepared when the time comes
PS. Ex VW tech in the house. Watch out on the Audi VW Porsche range, the TSI/FSI GDI engines have a lean burn strategy on light throttle conditions, the flaps are meant to direct the air charge along the top of the intake ports and toward the injector spray and spark plug, if the intake ports are in any way carbon contaminated, the fuel will not burn properly and create a misfire (feels like an ignition misfire), causing fouled plugs, oil passing the rings and unburned fuel in the chamber, the fuel trims show as a lean condition (excess oxygen in the exhaust) and the ECU will add more fuel.
I have seen many a shop replace spark plugs, only for the fault to reoccur a few thousand KMs down the track because of fouled plugs. It is also a good idea to have the injectors tested and cleaned at the same time as the intake port clean.
Yes i suggested that but it was not approved unfortunately
Oh and that was suggested, but also keep in mind that when i put the good plug into cylinder 1 the secondary waveform showed no signs of a lean condition. So carbon was not the root cause, BUT you are correct, carbon will cause a lean issue. They didn't approve the suggestion though
I am quite sure your waveform won't show a lean condition, as the fuel mixture will not be burned properly.
It gets tricky, the ECU gets tricked as there will be unburned oxygen in the exhaust from a non-ignited charge and then try to add more and more fuel to compensate for a false lean condition.
Haha, I had to rethink what I was saying a couple of times there as I was going down the incorrect path of a misfire showing as a rich condition on AFRs
nice job senor . so what the hell was the oil leak from ? was it from the valve cover gasket ?
It was from the loose breather hose mentioned at the 5 minute mark of the video.
Without the breather hose installed, the oil separator could no do its job of preventing oil from entering the combustion chamber. After two hours of idling without a breather hose, the oil buildup was enough to foul the plugs.
Oh yeah forgot about the busted hose lol , thanks checking out your Mini Cooper video and going down the line.
Good stuff bro keep it up!! ..
VW does very bad when it comes on Ignition Coils. its the heat what makes them ill.
Can u pls share Prob details which u used for Ignition coil burning and Prob to measure Intake and Exhaust pulse.
Good one
How many miles did this car have?
what would cause a lean condition please sir if that was on the bentley how could you of tested it as the air intake has to come of to get to the coils so it would not of started to cheak it
The Bentley will run with no air filter housings installed since there is a map sensor on it.
There are many things that can cause a lean condition. Can you be more specific?
ok thanks mario
ok sir i was thinking of the job you just did on this car was it the high kv that lead to lean running . and the oil pooling in one of the pots might re clog the plug up is that poss..great video thankyou for sharing
when you use your padle do you use attenuator??
No, the attenuator built into this probe
How many miles
Did your Autel scanner offer Porsche in the vehicle selection ? Because snap on does not.
Yes
We use durametric for Porsche and it is so slooooooow to update
Hello brothers. I hope you all will be good. Here is my one question that in jaguar XF 2015 if we disconnect the battery in there is one issue come. I hope you know well that the trunk and fuel door locks and doors don’t lock. And car gives a double beep. I have left one car for this issue because i was not able to find the solution. Because here are all Jaguar experts so my humble request is to tell me a short explanation of this problem. I will be very very very thankful to you all. Please
Also want this question answer from super Mario diagnostics. ❤
You'll need sdd to carry out the battery replacement procedure. If that doesn't work, update kvm and go through the entire procedure(target identifier, etc)
what is that boroscope youre using?
ME-610 from oasisscientific.com
Are you in sac? Charge for an hour of diagnosis?
Where? Sacramento?
The shop charges, i don't know how much, i just do the work lol
lol, i just looked up autobahn performance and the only results I got were in Sacramento why I asked
Oh ok lol must be a common name. No I'm in Florida
Like the intro music, I think you play guitar? We should jam some time,🎼
How many hrs did you have into this diagnostic ?
Actual hands on the vehicle, about an hour and a half. I let the vehicle idle as i moved onto other things, and took it on several test drives in between
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics right on. Those intermittent problems will get you man. Not to mention fixing other shops problems isn't easy. Hat's off 👍
What ignition probe are you using
The pico probe, that comes with the kit
Ohhhh ok thanks
👌🏾
I’m not getting my notifications
:( been wondering about you! 😆 glad to see ya!
