    Man I love the sound, I want to do this on my daily, but I heard it wears down your cams and you always have to oil change it. Is they true? Do you think I’ll be safe with it. Cuz I’m also going to boost my car, oh low boost. But man this locked VTEC with the turbo sound is going to sound sooooo good

    • @sethgobonkers
      @sethgobonkers  2 года назад +7

      it can be done and is true about the wear and tear. most of these cars that you see that are well built have locked VTEC and aftermarket valvetrain and such. Some people tackle the wearing issue with changing oil thickness but there are many factors the follow. Research a good cam for your build and you can still have the sound you are looking for that. That would be my two cents. Good luck!

    does locking the Stock vtec make it stay on the big lobe of the cam at all times as if vtec was kicking at all times from idle to redline? Also a stock cam makes em sound that good? Sounds like a biga$$ cam with a $hit ton of duration lol!

    • @sethgobonkers
      @sethgobonkers  2 года назад

      Yep!, the stock cam is locked into vtec all the time. That way there is no change over in the cam profile during acceleration. Yeah that sound for nost of those cars is the stock cam, others are built with aftermarket valvetrain, cam, etc.

      just the cheap upgrade,
      but has same purpose with aftermarket performance cams that have higher lift and longer duration than stock cam (unhooked Vtec)

    Why would you do that? It's like reversing the innovation honda engineers did in the eighties

    • @sethgobonkers
      @sethgobonkers  2 года назад

      This is typically done to simplify tuning, prevent the change over from vtec so you can stay in it all the time.

    • @manavanand3087

      the innovation of Vtec was so that you can have a big cam for high RPM range, while having smoother economical performance at low RPM. For Drag racing, or high-power builds which do not care about economy, Vtec lockout allows us to have the aggressive cam profile engaged at all times. Think of it less as reversing the innovation, and more as a full utilization of the aggressive Vtec cam included in these models.
