thank you very much for the comment and then yes, I agree with you, and it is also true that the path of every opera singer is really a very complicated road, where practically every day you have to find new balances and also for this reason that singing opera must be appreciated much more than other musical genres in my opinion, there is much more effort and work behind it.

What an excellent teacher she is and it was equally impressive how he caught on and his sound and legato improved considerably at the final rendition. Bravi and thank you!

Fascinating! Dame Kiri obviously knows her technique because, even at her age, the high notes ring out clearly. Most great singers can not teach the students, but a few can give clear directions on technique: Dame Kiri, Dame Gwyneth (she’s a very good teacher, even if she didn’t always follow her own advice!). A few instructions to this fine tenor, and he is already much better.

Kiri for the win!...but headset microphones....why? for recording this session ok, I hope it isn't the normal.

Well it sounds like they didn’t turn it off while you were singing since I can hear your faint breathing like it’s hitting a mic close to your face. Amplification in a setting like this is obviously not your decision, and you have no say in it, but it is disappointing to see nonetheless.
Anyways, sorry to clog up your video with complaining. You sang very well so congratulations and best of luck!

@@aaronmckone8973 It is called RECORDING so that YOU can hear it. Did you know mics are used for recording?? How do you expect to listen if they dont have mics.🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

    • @aaronmckone8973

@@Yves_Ka I’m not about to get into this with you here beyond this one reply. Yes I’m aware mics are used for recording. Notice how there are at least 2 mics in this video. One is for recording, and one is for amplification. And to me, it didn’t sound like they turned off the amplification during the singing, unless the transition from amplified speaking to unamplified singing was incredibly seamless, but the fact that I can still hear soft breathing sounds so closely sounds to me like the headset amplification was still on while singing. If that is the case, then I think that’s unfortunate but obviously not the singer’s fault in any way. If it’s not the case, then my apologies for the incorrect assumption, but that is why I said what I said.
Anyways, I really don’t want to clog up this singers comments with a debate about amplification. That’s a discussion for elsewhere, not his video. My apologies for my part in that so far. Nonetheless, truly you did a commendable job singing this difficult aria and best of luck to you in the future!

Kiri is following the Alexander technique whereby instinctive physical behaviour is actually non productive. Eg if he is nervous he will try to shrink his presence even though this will reduce his performance.
