Generally secret service is responsible for in the venue and local enforcement is responsible for outer, so it was local police that would have had to secure the other roof, secret service were on the roof they were responsible for. *But* we need to see the evidence the secret service *clearly* gave local enforcement that responsibly or it’s still their fault. Also will need to see why the local police didn’t radio and secret service pull him off the stage. A chunk of it is the huge cost to the government to secure regular large public outdoor events when indoor would be easier to secure but would cost the campaign money. They should have simply forbidden an event in an area they didn’t have the resources to secure. I’ll bet there’s been dozens of close calls.

Now, the claim is that local agencies were culpable for not manning that location. Sloped roof story jettisoned.

Generally secret service is responsible for in the venue and local enforcement is responsible for outer, so it was local police that would have had to secure the other roof, secret service were on the roof they were responsible for. *But* we need to see the evidence the secret service *clearly* gave local enforcement that responsibly or it’s still their fault. Also will need to see why the local police didn’t radio and secret service pull him off the stage.
A chunk of it is the huge cost to the government to secure regular large public outdoor events when indoor would be easier to secure but would cost the campaign money. They should have simply forbidden an event in an area they didn’t have the resources to secure. I’ll bet there’s been dozens of close calls.
