Imo, one of the weird ways to increase the BE value and justify the RP and battle pass purchase for them. They essentially want to slow down new players progress to collect more expensive/newer champions to the point it would take weeks if not months just to get 7800 BE for free to play players. A system of a bygone era. Like in the video. the old currency is VERY hard to obtain. You get like 300-500 of it per game and a new champ costs like 6,300 (highest) This was one of Riot's main way of monetizing their game before skins as it encourages the players to buy the "champion packs" IIRC. They're very cheap like $10 for a set of 5 i think? So instead of spending all that time to grind, you can just pay a little bit of money to get the champions at a time. The IP you collected can be then used to buy shards of the "runes." The old mechanic of tiny boost for your game, kinda pay to win so they removed it later on. The reason why it's still not free is because it's been that way since the big bang. If Riot were to give everybody free heroes, then they might be legally liable to refund all the people who bought them using money.
Now it's very easy to get BE, and champion shards gives you a massive discount so to speak. Back then you literally have to grind for days. But also, you can buy XP and IP boosters too that gives you ramp up bonuses to collect it easier. NGL. So nice of Riot to make farming BE so slow that by the time you're about to buy the new champ, the cost already got reduced. Nah but back then, if you played a lot, I'm talking like around 10+ games per day, you'd make enough for a 6300ip champ (new champs didn't have an increased price until very recently) in a few days, maybe a week tops if you didn't play as much. Not to mention, there were a lot less champs, so having every champ wasn't something as rare.
To me the problem is different: I am not a fan they gift champs through missions (like Mel), because I want the choice of NOT getting new champs. I prefer my champ pool super small so I can get the ones I really like on ARAM. I remember one year they gave Kassadin to everyone and that was the worst to me. I’d love if you could actually remove champs from your pool.
Didn't rioters say that Mel (and any new champs) will be unlockable for free after completing a mission? I think medler also said that they didn't intend to make it so much harder to buy new champs and that they will look into it
I remember when i was level 40 and i struggled so much on BE, what a noob and kid i was at that time now at level 500 i dont worry about that i have so much champion shards, mother says i need go outside
Is this true? Ive had my account for 2 years and i have hundreds of champion shards, when a new champion releases i just de 3 or 4 of them and i buy it, but by the time another one rolls around i have another 10 champion shards minimum
For real though it shouldn’t even cost anything to get champs anymore. It’s hilarious because the reason they gave for still paywalling champs was that they don’t want to overwhelm new players. I wouldn’t even mind the paywall as much if they gave you a reasonable amount of BE for playing every day but they give you 50.
wanted to flex about how its still easy to get those champion... back in my days i used the hero shards and merged them to get all the 6300 hero for almost nothing... merge 3 hero of 450 and done... now i have so many be i dont know what to do with it... had so many rune page from s3.. meanwhile people flexing how many skin they have while i have like almost nothing and a stack of 200 keys waiting to have box to open it...

Riot did some changes that heavily affected the means of obtaining BE, like removing mastery chests and Level-up champion capsules. Grinding BE became hard
This is literally just a temporary mistake by riot changing up the new systems. You cany buy skins without the champions BE only even exists to give new players a feeling of progression it keeps them around for longer than if u just give them all champs. They will fix this almost immediately.
riot is so greedy asf, i can't even buy champs because they remove the chest and capsules and they turned it into wildrift.. like this sucks ass wtf riot?
Thats the biggest and most silly issue. The vets already have most if not all of the champions, they aren't getting a single penny from this squeeze. They literally gutted the newbies for no reason at all
Well, not really. I'm playing like maximum of 10 games per week nowadays, but I've been playing League for like 10 years now. Obviously, I have all the champions that have been released so far. However, by the end of 2024 they opened the Essence Emporium (what a coincidence) and I spent all of my Blue Essence for chromas, knowing I'll get it back soon. Since then, I am sitting on 3k blue essence now, and it's not increasing at all. It seems that with the amounts of games I'm playing, and with the frequency of releasing new champions, I won't be able to keep up with buying everything that gets released. Also, I believe that League doesn't have any new players. But it definitely has insane amount of new accounts, cause of toxic people constantly get banned. When someone addicted to League gets banned now, they have to level up a new account. This will be a nightmare for them, so they will most likely be forced to buy them with RP
Technically mel should be obtained free ,but the question is how easy is it to obtain her? Is it just a mission or is she locked behind a pass XP grind.
I don't play PC league, I play mobile, is really that difficult to get the champs in pc? In Mobile league you can have almost every champion cuz they give you a fuck ton of Blue essence (that you can use only to buy champs) just by playing in any game mode, clearing daily missions and completing the free battle pass, not to mention every week there's a rotation of like 6 champs you can play without buying them. I can't imagine grinding that much specifically just to get one champ
That's how it was on PC until a week ago, they removed any way of getting free skins too. Gotta grind the battle pass to get one per season or something.
Thing is, you got Level Capsules by, ofc, levelling up, these contained champion shards that you could disenchant and get BE depending on the Blue Essence cost of the champion, higher cost = more BE. Alternatively, which I didn't do, you could instead materialize these shards and it'd cost less BE than their shop value, this way accelerating the proccess of getting all of them, and even then, it still took a lot of time, and keep in mind they reduced a lot of the price in a patch where they updated the shop depending on the difficulty of the champion, which ofc also reduced the BE of a lot of the shards, which means it didn't change a lot. Now you don't even get these capsules by levelling up, taking way more, and they ofc are saying it was a mistake because they won't admit their greedy bs
Riots new system for new players is basically "Oh spend a bit of money. If you don't like the game. There's the door" Then there's old players stuck in an endless loop or torture and enjoying it.
People aren't thinking that it's completely intentional. Believe what you will on riot's reasoning for arcane's budget the end result was to get people into league but they still have to recoup alot of that money so what better way to do that then introduce a new season while sneakily removing most of the games normal established freebie system and locking everything behind a new "pass" they realized too many could blindly play normally and reroll skin shards and a lot of the time people walked away with free Legendary's. Blue essence was pilled so high nobody really worried about champ releases and held stuff for emporium. now you gotta pay to play way more to earn less than half what you were normally getting

Now Mel can be received if you do 50k magic damage and 10k shielding. Any numbber of games including ar urf and arams
Wait they didnt they make her free
me with all champions bought, 38.4k BE and 16 more champion shards sitting crafting
Took me 8 years to get all the champions 😂😂😂
and now it would take you 800 years
@ or 10$ with monthly gamepass
Purchase now!
It truly sucks right now but you can still earn the new champ for doing two challanges
i have over 1 million blue essence and i have only one champ other than the starting ones
Well Riot did it. They finally convinced me not to ever spend money on their stupid BS ever again. Me and apparently everyone else. Well done.
Nah I’m quit leauge now
sitting on over 1 mil BE, shoulda started 8 years ago
Im sitting on 100k+ BE and 30 champion shards of the remaning 80 I havent purchased yet.
Didn't rioters say that Mel (and any new champs) will be unlockable for free after completing a mission? I think medler also said that they didn't intend to make it so much harder to buy new champs and that they will look into it
Riot really want to stop the constant champion 'balancing'😅
lucky me for having all the champions in the game and when a new one is released I simply use a permanent champion thing to get it for free
same saved up on like 20 of them during good old prime reward days
@@MaeMlethis Gotta love having 10 shards of every champ in the game saved up :^)
Wait until they make the runes in league start costing blue essence again
I remember when i was level 40 and i struggled so much on BE, what a noob and kid i was at that time now at level 500 i dont worry about that i have so much champion shards, mother says i need go outside
Please, someone calculate how long will it take for me to get another 90k BE for urfwick
champs should be unlocked by level to ease people into the game and then when you hit 30 everyone’s unlocked
Is this true? Ive had my account for 2 years and i have hundreds of champion shards, when a new champion releases i just de 3 or 4 of them and i buy it, but by the time another one rolls around i have another 10 champion shards minimum
OMG THE IP
What did you guys call it in English, it was called İtibar Puanı in Turkish which is something like Reputation Point
All champions should be free.
That's why I quit for DotA and Marvel Rivals. At least these games don't gatekeep me from playing characters
Im glad I am itting on a champ shard for every current champ, 100k BE and just dont like 50+ champions enough gameplay wise to own them. They seriously need to fix this so new or even not new people can afford to actually buy champs they want for free.
Never used mastery, Im so glad right now, Never went to do masteries felt like it was a SCAM it feel so good to go for champions so Easily when they relesease xD
Is like an Investment done incredible well
I'm totally convinced that we should stop playing for a like a month or whatever time they need to understand that it's far from being acceptable
Tell that to all addicted creatures.
Honestly just give everyone free access to all champions at this point
Except Mel will be given for free and all new champs too if I remember well
You cant get chests anymore ... Why ... Why Rito Gomes ...
What did Riot do, I didnt track their changes
Riot did some changes that heavily affected the means of obtaining BE, like removing mastery chests and Level-up champion capsules. Grinding BE became hard
They removed champions capsules, they removed the CHESTS dude, you cant get any skins now
actualy she be free if you do the mission
“Hey…looks like Arcane did a bit too well. Let’s fix that.”
Its like they r doing this on purpose like this is the best method to get players to leave the game
Did they changed something?
This is literally just a temporary mistake by riot changing up the new systems. You cany buy skins without the champions BE only even exists to give new players a feeling of progression it keeps them around for longer than if u just give them all champs. They will fix this almost immediately.
just after the emporium as well hmmm...
riot is so greedy asf, i can't even buy champs because they remove the chest and capsules and they turned it into wildrift.. like this sucks ass wtf riot?
They aren't adding new players so they have to milk whatever is left of the playerbase
Good luck to them already having all the champions and bunch of skins for my main and never paid a penny xD
Thats the biggest and most silly issue. The vets already have most if not all of the champions, they aren't getting a single penny from this squeeze. They literally gutted the newbies for no reason at all
At least smurfs need to pay more :)
OTP KLED MANIACAL LAUGHTER..... HUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SKARL YOU THE ONLY ONE I TRUST
It's also a little worse because you could get shards for champions that you already had
Riots new system for new players is basically "Oh spend a bit of money. If you don't like the game. There's the door"
Then there's old players stuck in an endless loop or torture and enjoying it.
No matter if anyone defends this, the question is simply "Why is any of that really necessary?" and the answer will always be "It is just isn't"
People aren't thinking that it's completely intentional. Believe what you will on riot's reasoning for arcane's budget the end result was to get people into league but they still have to recoup alot of that money so what better way to do that then introduce a new season while sneakily removing most of the games normal established freebie system and locking everything behind a new "pass"
they realized too many could blindly play normally and reroll skin shards and a lot of the time people walked away with free Legendary's. Blue essence was pilled so high nobody really worried about champ releases and held stuff for emporium.
now you gotta pay to play way more to earn less than half what you were normally getting
