After more than a year of research we finally brought a new subcompact tractor. After watching your channel and the quality of the RK tractor we decided to buy the RK19. We have a few aces with an outdoor wood burner and the RK19 has plenty of power for what we need. I spent all weekend on it and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Mike!
I have the Rk 37 and it will without a doubt lift them totes even without rear balance even though I prefer it for better stability! I have stacked full of red oak packed as tightly as I can get them and lifts no problem!
This is the first time I have seen you needing a bigger dump trailer. I just bought one with my good friend and have used it for wood and soon manure for the garden. Small (5X10) but bigger than yours. Love it. We looked for months for what we wanted at a good price and we found it. Great choice with the RK37 for your needs.
hi mick I like the way you think ill be the same as you with the cab. but if I was you ill pick big red and make the trails bigger or wider and cut the lower branches so it would fit underneath.i like your video so keep doing them. hope to see your boy in some more as well. its so lovely seeing you talk about him when your in your pick up and you have a big smile on your face just talking about him as your heading down the road to get his chicken burger and picking up a couple of things.
Mike, I have the rk37 with a cab, and it's well worth it. Especially for me on the hot days here in Florida. Also while mowing, allot less garbage gets in your face.
I predicted that would be your answer. The perfect in-between size for your needs. Not to mention your Kubota is about that size if I recall correctly.
I went with the RK24 today and of course I mentioned your name. I agree the RK37 is idea. I’ll be videoing soon the things I get out of the little RK24.
Hi Mike I am just changing one of my Kubota tractors and was considering a shuttle shift but I was told that they are no use with a pto mower because when you slow down to turn the mower also slows down. Michael
I just got a new Kubota L 3901 three weeks ago. Researched different models and made my decision . I have 50 acres and will have about mile of trails by the end of June to play on. Now just needed the attachments.
I have a 474. Which is an rk37 chassis with 48hp 4cyl. With a cab. The rk55 would be the way to go as the loader is considerably weaker. Doesnt have draft control and a few other things that would make the bigger tractor a good thing. If it doesnt fit, i will trim wherever it doest fit. In the case of the rk55 vs 37 i think there is a huge difference in power all around. It may make your 100acres a lot bigger.
Love how you just happened to be there when your wife pulls in smart thinking I'm sure her appearance in your videos helps ( views and subs.) That being said glad to see you still pick the same size tractor you bought the Kubota L39 and the RK37 very close in size and capabilities good to know you bought the right size tractor the first time
Hey Mike, nice problem to have. I think you would feel the RK55 was a little handier if it didn't have a cab. Cabs are nice when the weather is bad but awkward for working in the woods. If you're just puttsin around with firewood then the RK37 is all you need. But, if you want a serious tractor for dragging and lifting big logs and plowing and discing etc the larger 50 to 60 hp tractors are the way to go. As far as shuttle shift compared to hydrastat, if you do a lot of loader work like I do, hydro is the only way to go. If you do more ground engaging work like plowing and discing, or mowing in a straight line hour after hour then gear drive might be better because gear transmissions put more power to the ground. Personally I like hydro for my needs and find that my 62 hp kubota hydro has plenty of power for what ever I ask of it!
Luv the tunes.... I figured you'd lean toward the RK-37. I don't have a FEL on my machine, but I do use hydrostat on my Kubota garden tractor. For my MX4700 I actually prefer the shuttle shift. If I did a lot of loader work, I might be persuaded.
Im in the market for a compact tractor around 40 HP. I like the looks of the RK37 but the closest dealer is about 190 miles away so defiantly a concern for dealer support!
Just came in from clearing the 8 inches of new snow from last night....love it!! Your rationale with the 37 mirrors why I went with the L3901 and suspect you did when you got yours too. Too bad we don't have any Rural King's up this way in CT, otherwise I would have considered the RK line when buying. Another great video, thanks!
Good video Mike and Melissa ! Good choice too on the tractor, and definitely with the cab. Then with all the attachments you would need to last a lifetime. There I go Dreaming again ;-) Thanks for sharing. Yup Spring has sprung and the grass has rizz, now where the heck dem flares izz?
I agree with your choice, it's the same that I would have made (minus the cab) for MY needs/circumstances. I don't really NEED a cab here in North Florida. Yes it would be nice, but I don't consider it a NEED. Tractors as far as choice, size, options etc. is pretty much a personal choice and (in my opinion) should match the requirements for what the person needs it for. Again, just my opinion, a sub-compact tractor such as the RK-24 is good for an "average" homeowner that needs to do maintenance type of work. It is also good for someone with property like yours or ours for clearing and building a homestead. The backhoe is a very handy tool and the small size makes "trail blazing" much easier when it comes to thick woods. It's a bit small for a "larger" piece of property ( > 10 acres) for handling all the tasks that need to be done. The RK-37 is a good compromise in that it's still smaller, yet has just a little bit more power for some of the bigger tasks. The bottom line is that it all depends on the needs of the person getting the tractor. It doesn't matter about brand. I happen to own a couple of John Deere tractors that are very similar in specs to the RK-24 and the RK-37. I certainly would not object to owning an RK, Kubota, Mahindra [insert tractor brand] as long as it is the right tool for my needs.
Great Video Mike... Have to agree with you on the cab issue, first year w our cab on the Boomer 45 & we love it... for our work , we like the Hydro trans... God Bless...Chief..{NYS/ADK}
I agree as well. That 37 is incredible. I have a JD 1025R, which is a great little tractor. Not sure if you watch TTWT, he makes that lil sucker work! Where I part ways with that guy is that I know a 1 series is great for tight spaces and can do a ton of work, there are times I wish I had the power and size of a slightly larger tractor. I think a 3 series gives you the best of both worlds.
I set 2 appointments on my cell phone calendar and had them repeat every two weeks for the garbage pickup. One for regular and one for recycle. That way I can set out the correct bins.
Yup, RK37 with cab is the ideal size for me too.But I'd go with the Hydrostatic transmission, I don't know why specifically , I guess I'm used to it now seeing that I have that in my CK20S Kioti.
Great video contemplating which tractor to get myself. I've got 6 months to decide before I can swing it. I stopped and looked at them and I didn't think the 55 was all that much bigger. I don't have a lot of woods to deal with either. I'm a new subscriber but really enjoy the videos !!!
My wife just came home from a hard day working in the Emergency Room, I gave her a glass of wine , then she said “I’m ready for those ‘Morgan’s”.... Thanks guys!
Haven't seen much about the 55. Is it that much larger than the 37 ? The extra HP would come in handy. For me the real question is how would I handle the warranty. It is a mechanical device and sooner or later it will need service. It would be worth a few bucks to have a good dealer nearby.
Yes, that looks like a good choice. Great video again, as always. Melissa, you look very smart. Hope your all having a great weekend, spring will soon be here! 👍
So what's the max on the loader lift and front axle on those RK 37 , My son has a little 2305 John Deere he let me use in my firewood yard to buck up trees on the forks he has , It can lift 900 lbs max . I stood that thing on its nose twice even with a counterweight box .Also the front tires are too small . My solution was go home get my vintage army truck fork lift ( rated at max 28,000 lift save lift 24,000 lbs ) Better to be safe than sorry working in the bush alone ..... footnote still looking for a 18.4-26 skidder tire . Liked your video Mr.Morgan . Never enough hours in a day eh ...... Canadian here
I vote for the RK 55. Big oak trees here and branches falling from the tree canopy are the factors why I like the larger tractor with the cab Good job on your videos
Well I purchased the the RK55 and yes it’s pretty big compared to my kabota BX. Was thinking about selling the kabota but I’m gonna keep it he smaller jobs. I believe the RK37 would have worked but I have the 55 now so it’s gonna have to work.
7 months later, have you ever tried lifting one of those IBC totes with the 37? I'm debating the 37 versus 55 right now as well, for 90 acres (about half and half pasture/woodlands).
i would like to try out the rk37 but i simply love my rk55. it has more than exceeded my expectations as far as strenght goes. it is a very stout tractor when it comes to lifting logs for firewood. i havent used the bushhog with it yet so im anxious to see how it handles my 8ft mower on all the hills.HAVE A DAY👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’d have to go with 37 with full cab. It’s a little bigger then my Mahindra. Just wish I had a dealer close. Buy the way Melissa I haven’t forgotten about you Chestnut shells. Still working on a few projects
Great channel and always great content. I need a compact tractor so bad for our little farm. I can't wait for the day when I can finally pay off some bills. I like the little 24 hp. Keep em coming
How was fuel consumption on both ? Also ease of daily upkeep ? I used to have the job many years ago of greasing all the equipment every day, took about an hour, man i hated it .
@@Morgansunleashed love your pants melissa you look awesome I'm sure nobody noticed the shirt lol what do you do at your job ? Another awesome vid thank you 😘
Hello Mike, Melissa, and all. Great vid as always. Love em, please keep them coming. My question is, ……. if I remember correctly, you have an agreement with Rural King to use and possibly favorably comment on their products for one year. Is that one soon to come up? If so, are they going to come and take their equipment back, or possibly offer it for sale to you for a greatly reduced price, seeing how it's only been gently used? Thanks Rick.
😂 that shirt looks good enough. never would have known had you not said anything, mel. at least it's not stained with mustard or something 🤣 seems like people in northern pa had a nice day yesterday; we down in the southeastern part had a VERY rainy first ( or second ) day of spring.
Was looking at the rk37 with cab. Do you think it would lift a pallet of salt out of of pick up with ballast on the back?It would only be 2-3 times a year. Pallets weight around 2450lbs.
I always enjoy your videos I did have a question though I noticed that when you are cutting up trees for firewood you always make sure they are the same size pieces and I was wondering if that was a your personal preference or if there was a specific reason for it. You use the log splitter to make it the right size for firewood so I wasn't to sure on that
Without tractors at the local Rural King, and the strong possibilities that there will be no tractors at any Rural King in 10 years (as well as a few other brands sold at the local mower shops and box stores) the 3 series Deere with cab is the size and weight equivalent for most folks
BTW - I prefer Kubota over Deere, but it's hard to beat Deere's 3 series combo when you look at the width/weight/HP/cab - You have to go wider, lighter, less HP, or no cab to go Kubota.
Sounds like a good choice Mike, going with the RK37 with a cab. However, the RK55 with an open cab wouldn't be quite as prohibitive in close qtrs imho. My open cab John Deere 990 is a little larger than the RK55 & was a little more tractor than I needed back in 2003.That is why I bought it. My thinking is, it gets me a little heavier frame, bucket & arms, hubs & wheels, engine, etc. Everyone's needs are a little different however, as (16) years in with my tractor, ( never been in the shop ) has served me well... BTW, I awoke to 18-20" drifts from yesterdays & last nights Nor'easter here in N. Central Vermont. I have (6) hrs. work ahead of me to get it all pushed out. :~( Bill... :~)
The answer to that question should be easy after a year, just compare the hours on each machine. The 37 should be well ahead of the others as it seems it appears in videos the most.
Mike: I have a Kubota BX23 that I use to manage my 10-acre property. I would agree with you that something a little larger would be ideal. I love the maneuverability and the versatility particularly when I equip it with the front end loader and the backhoe. But, I just can't hit lift heavy loads with it! So, a little more lifting capacity on the front end would be wonderful. Waiting for the Powerball so I can get that dream tractor! By the way, Melissa, you look wonderful! You too Mike! Haha. Take care.
RK tractors are "made by" TYM but I believe they are assembled in the USA. You'll see an immidiate family resemblance if you look up TYM tractors. They make a lot of tractors and with the RK lineup they seem to be offering a better "bang for the buck" compared to Kubota and JD in the USA. I'm in Canada and went with a second hand Kubota. We don't have RK up here and the closest TYM dealer is about 2 hours drive, compared to 5 minutes for Kubota or 20 min to JD.
@@erikniemi1977 I'm from Canada too.....I have done a little research and have found that they are only sold is the us,one of the reason's JD and Kubota are so popular is Canada is the financing....If TYM and LS could offer the same financing they would steal the show here in Canada
Great video... Great advice... I have a small JD 1025R tractor (no cab obviously) and I always say if I get a new tractor it would be in the 35 hp range with a cab. Where I come from you need a cab in the winter for comfort, but last summer I ran over a nest of hornets that burrow in the ground. A cab would have been nice - those 1025Rs can't out run hornets. We also have a resident badger who took offence to the fact I was knocking down a couple of old animal shelters that a previous owner of our property had left in poor condition. At the start of the day I didn't realize the badger was so attached to these dilapidated dwellings. Fending of a badger with a long pointy stick and the bucket of the tractor made for an exciting time. If I had a video of the ordeal I could have made a great advertising video for JD. Cabs not only bring comfort to the world of tractors but safety also ;) Michael from Canada
Hard to believe, but you don't have much longer with those tractors do you? You said when you got them it would be for 24 months and it has been 20? now? Are they going to come and take them all back?
Hello, A tractor with cabine, cause you work ina forest! In reality i don't know how to drive tractor, and ih it's legal or not to drive ina forest without cabine. So i don't know! Good video and subject.
My lawn mower is 24 hp. I don't need a little 24 hp tractor that weighs less than 4000 lbs. Around 40 hp is a decent size tractor for just screwing around with. A hydrostat drive is great for making a tractor go back and forth. They are too power inefficient for putting horse power to the tires.
Shuttle shift is good for ground engagement work such as tilling, plowing etc. The hydro is good for loader work or any repetitive back and forth motion. It all depends on what work you'll be doing the majority of the time.

Bill... :~)
Sun is shining here today, should be headed your way
Hows the tower blind coming along?
The answer to that question should be easy after a year, just compare the hours on each machine. The 37 should be well ahead of the others as it seems it appears in videos the most.
Mike would the grapel on Sherman work better for those leaves? I'm not sure either?
Love the RK 37, good choice.
So do you think the RK37 would be able to pick up 2000 lbs the enire 102"s. Loader capacity is 2100 lbs.
Mike:
I have a Kubota BX23 that I use to manage my 10-acre property. Haha. Take care.
Great work, Mike
Wouldn't the grapple clean the leaves better then the bucket ?
Do you ever do any work to cut back on invasive tree species? That could be a video that would reach a lot of audience i bet
Do you think the RK 24 could pick up a 5x4 round bale ?
This is the first that i have ever heard of these tractors, where are they built and are they more or less price wise to a kubota or jd?
Crazy weather to day in butler pa snow rain sun shine
Melissa, That Shirt looks fin I wouldn't have been able to tell if You hadn't said something
Love you & your families videos tho , keep it up
Great video... Cabs not only bring comfort to the world of tractors but safety also ;)
Michael from Canada
Check out tractor time with Tim on RUclips. He has a 1025r and interviewed a company that makes soft cabs for it.
Hard to believe, but you don't have much longer with those tractors do you? You said when you got them it would be for 24 months and it has been 20? now? Are they going to come and take them all back?
Good afternoon. Open Station 55.
Great job enjoyed that!!
Melessa You look Fantastic !!!
Hello, A tractor with cabine, cause you work ina forest! In reality i don't know how to drive tractor, and ih it's legal or not to drive ina forest without cabine. So i don't know! Good video and subject.
Got my Handclap or “ something like that “ 👏👏👍🇨🇦
Rk37 for sure.
This is like watching Bob the builder lol
That’s a lot of machinery to shift a few leaves, why not just chop the tree down.
Mikey, what are your thoughts on your Stihl 661??
Any video?
Thanks
Shuttle shift is good for ground engagement work such as tilling, plowing etc. The hydro is good for loader work or any repetitive back and forth motion. It all depends on what work you'll be doing the majority of the time.
You no everyone always needs a big tractor nothing wrong with the compact but give me the big one
