Hey guys! Many of you have expressed concern over the way trout are handled and released in this video. We share and appreciate your passion for preserving our natural resources. I have talked to our crew and we plan to implement the changes you have suggested on our next trip. Thanks for the watching!
We just left the Mile for our summer trip, we took a net this year and still caught most of our fish on Jigs and stickbaits. The net was a great tool that we hadn't used in previous years. Kept the fish in the water the whole time. Got the hooks out quickly and we can confidently say all fish were released unharmed and alive. Thanks for the comments Dan!
Dan Smith tell me how spin fishing for trout with jigs is different than fishing Kelly Galloup patterns or other large streamers for killing fish.....
@@iamdrglass I await Dans' replay...
Don't lose any sleep over it, there's nothing you can do that will ever be good enough for these fly guys. Sure seems like the nancies in the drift boats are the ones that are fragile, the fish are fine
I live near the Miracle Mile, and fish it often. It is nice to see someone using other tackle besides fly rods!
Keep Wyoming wild, and let 'er buck!
Thank you Larry! It's beautiful place, one of our favorites to go! We love catching them on maribou jigs and jerkbaits! Very underrated
The cheapest gold spoon you can find, 1/2oz , will slay them at my favorite fishing hole. Monster Browns, and nice Rainbows, in a bit of an unconventional location.
Don't have to use fly rods to catch big fish!
By near you mean an hour away
cool video..im a fly fisherman myself and the miracle mile is my favorite place to fish and idk if you guys catch a lot of trout but just an fyi don't hold a trout like a bass, there mouths are not designed to be held that way..one hand under the belly the other under the tail.. also you should try picking up a 7wt and a large streamer and try that on the mile. I guarantee you will have the same results but that's just my opinion.
Thanks man! it's a great place to fish! Not the optimal way to hold them that's for sure, although we assure you we are very careful the few times we do hold them like that. Maintaining the fishery is the most important thing! May have to try those streamers sometime, essentially that's what an articulated jig is. Just heavier. Thanks for the watch!
Fuck fly fishing
@@cthompson7887 fuck off bud
Keep em wet boyz. We catch and release in these parts so its super important how you handle our treasure
We catch and release everything. Never will keep any. Agreed. If you watch in our other video from Wyoming we do a much better job with handling them. Actually brought a net and kept em in the water. Thanks for watching
great fishing!
Only issue is, once you grab the trout with your dry hands you wipe off the protective slime, he may swim away looking healthy but chances are he is as good as dead with in next day ..between stressing them with a long fight and wiping off the protective slime, they really don't have a chance for survival.
Thanks, will keep that in mind.
Another great video from your channel - again thx. Very informative in a pleasently down to earth way... Will have to try similar jigs for my danish searun brown trout.
Thanks a lot! We try and stay as humble as possible! check out our other trout fishing video titled Rainbows and Rattlesnakes! Epic trout fishing in that one too!
Glad you’re making changes to the way you handle trout. The lower jaw works well for bas but can stun a trout, it may not recover.
If you check out our more recent ones from the last couple years we do a much better job at handling them. I appreciate it.
How about a net guys come on!! Tire him out? You want him to live for another catch? You don’t wear him out, you net him as fast as possible.
We did not have a net on us and in this fast water and light line with big rocks you really aren’t just able to bring em in! You can bet we bring a net from no way on though! Thanks for watching!
It’s all good good video
Thanks man! I really appreciate it! You can bet we brought our bet the last time we went!
Oh yeah my favorite place to fish ever
It is a beautiful place to fish for sure and the fishing is phenomenal! One of America's treasures for sure. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I love that you guys are going out there with jigs and spinning gear, and just some shorts and shoes. Makes the show really accessible to guys like me who just wanna catch some good numbers and don't have the money or time to invest in fly gear. Also PLEASE always leave the genuine reactions in there (when you chases that big one down stream and lost it).
However, please do not lip your trout. Their bones are super fragile and their jaws will get damaged if lipped
Yeah we don't see the need to invest in all the fly gear, shorts and tennis shoes do just fine for us. All we do is jig fish and throw jerkbaits and we always have done really well. We try and keep it as natural and real as possible which is why i left my reaction after losing that trout lol. I was was very angry.
for every spin rod bought a child in Africa dies
Nice meeting you guys today!
Awesome meeting you! Go catch some! It was tough this evening and we did see a rattlesnake! My dad actually stepped on it and it didn’t bite him thankfully!
How come, you guys don’t have a fishing net you need a net with that kind of fishing😏
You’re absolutely right. We bring one from now on lol. If you watched our other more current videos trout fishing there, we always have a net now lol
Yep. Buy a river net / better fish handling will improve your viewership. Tight lines.
We use a bass net now. Super big for 20” fish and easy handling. Thanks man
Nice fish and cool video. Contrary to popular belief, it is not good to rock a Trout back and forth to get water across there gills. This is hard on the fish's counter current exchange system for passing oxygen across there gills to oxygenate their blood, so it is better to just hold them in the water until they swim away.
Thanks Colton! Love hearing tips on how to better preserve our fisheries! We appreciate it!
Shut the fuck up
LOL, look at the abundant wildlife here in Wyoming and points to pelicans.... LOL them suckers be lost then.....
It was sarcasm.
What weight jighead do u use for your jigs? 1/8 ounce?😊
Just depends on the flow. You want to have a weight that lets you keep your bait down but also work through the runs, and holes slow. Generally 1/16, 1/8 oz are common with 2-6 lb line
Where exactly is this located on the miracle mile?
yeah I like that opposed to your comment there bud I grew up on the Miracle Mile live in Wyoming like you're real you're using had one great you guys were up there the fish you lost I can pretty much guarantee you was not a trout or a big walleye they have steelhead salmon in that part of the river been Vision up there the last one I saw caught tail was hanging off the back of a Nissan pickup truck dragging the dirt when I was probably about 20 years old you guys ever come back through give me a holler
Coulda been a trout my uncle caught one around 16-18 lbs that same trip that took over an hour to get in! We love those reels cuz of the backup drag it comes in handy!
A steelhead is a rainbow.
Thank you lol.
Was the 18 lb brown up in the canyon also? Great fish, long and healthy! Congrats! Also I was wondering what time of year you went on your trip?
I’ll say he was close to the canyon, how close I’ll leave up to imagination lol. But yeah there are some incredible fish in there. We usually go in June or July! Thanks for the comment, please subscribe!
I was raised fishing that river
That’s awesome man!
6:00....I just bought the same rig for my 6 year old daughter...pink, upface....exact. If it works for you bro/bra...go for it.
I love the set up, those reels have a back up drag system that spinning reels don’t have. Comes in handy on bigger fish!
Nice.....
I always prefer the spinner myself..I'm from southern Idaho and grew up there...looks good keep fishin
Occasionally we may throw a spinner of some sort but mainly we like using jigs! Thanks for watching!
Nets go a long way for the overall health of the fish. Handling the fish with dry hands is a big no-no!
Completely agree, we can say that on every trip now we have a net. It’s a must have! Thanks for watching Jason!
I like in Wyoming Casper but the weather sucks
We’ve always had great weather!
@@ThatsAGoodFish the three snow days we had here really set us back in history lol
use 8lb flourocarbon 100 percent. Baitcaster would be better or even a larger spinning reel.
Heading up there again soon to film, definitely gonna try fluorocarbon on at least one reel. I usually use a baitcaster for my jerkbaits and big hair jigs. Thanks for watching!
I like the fact you are spin fishing jigs. That is what I specialize in. I don't make production grade videos like you guys, but do the best with what I have. If you want to see a little Montana jig fishing check out my channel. If not that's okay too I'll keep watching your videos either way. Love what you guys are doing.
Always have loved spin casting jigs, we wouldn't trout fish any other way. We just subscribed to your channel man! Thanks for checking us out and spread the word! Thanks!
Thank you. I used RUclips's stabilization on some of my videos yesterday and just went back and watched them today. Lesson learned, don't ever use that! I'm in the process of switching everything back to the original. So if you watched some and the text captions were bouncing all over the place that is not how the original looked. Hopefully have everything straightened back around by this afternoon.
Thank you for subscribing. I just watched some more of your guy's videos. Love them! If you get back up to Montana don't be a stranger. Might want to give me a heads-up though as I'm usually out fishing with every free minute I have. It is nice to live in the middle of a fishing paradise though, makes it real handy when you are obsessed with fishing.
Yeah we have been there, we have come a long way so if there is anything that we can help you with don't hesitate to ask. Just like us on our Facebook page and give us a message or shoot us an email at thatsagoodfish22@gmail.com
We try and go up almost every summer. Stay connected with the show! thatsagoodfish.com and make sure you like us on Facebook. Keep fishing in that little slice of heaven my friend!
Come on fellas whats with the white t shirts kinda amateur hour over there ill come up and take yall to school man
Yeah not too smart lol, definitely coulda saw us for sure. But we caught lots of fish anyways! Thanks for watching man
A $10 K Mart Special spincast reel, and a $15 spinning rod fished upside down, sure puts the kibosh on the fancy expensive gear to catch fish boys.
HAHA thanks for watching!
Are you under Cortez? Or is it a different damn?
Use your imagination 😏 thanks for watching. Truly appreciate it boss
C'mon, be a man, use a fly rod~
I just don’t like fly rods man. Rather throw it on heavier line and heavier jigs.
THERE NOT A STRONG FISH. EITHER TAKE EM HOME AN EAT UM, OR LET EM GO. BROILED TROUT IS VERY GOOD.
We let them all go lol. And they are strong on light line! It’s a blast!
Lol
Get yr self a scale. 16 to 18lbs my ass!!!!
More like 7 to 8lbs.
Stop lieing!!!!!
😁🤣😅😆
Pass.
Keep bragging up Wyoming fishing, the explotation will lead to no good place to ever go for us born and raised here...
So I can’t fish it and be happy that I fished it because it’s incredible? Just cuz I’m not from there? That’s not nice
@@ThatsAGoodFish world wide internet advertising is destructive to the natural attributes due to the flow of more and more people. Thats what I am saying.
Appreciate the feedback man, it’s an incredible fishery and we just want to give it the credit. People still gotta go catch the fish. We just got done filming there again, next video is gonna be insane!
Idc how you hold em. I'm just here to see good fish
Hey man I hear ya! Thanks for the comment, go catch yourself a good fish!
Ugh. Learn how to handle trout.
Do a much better job in our next few trips. Using a net and keeping them in the water longer. I appreciate you watching
