Students living outside that school's boundaries should be moved first, not the children living within the boundaries. If there still are too many students for amount of teachers, they need to hire another teacher.
This ridiculous. It is mandated that children that live within the schools designated zoning map or area will be first to be considered if the school is an open enrollment school. If any child outside the school zoning area is enrolled, that child has to then enroll or be transfered to another school. Please contact the TEA and make a formal compliant, you pay property taxes and the majority of your sales taxes in the area, your child is entitled to preferential treatment because you pay local tax due to your residency and part of that pays the schoal board and superintendents salary.
Wondering who is overcrowding the school at the last minute, when they were supposed to be registered months ago. Surely, they had the numbers before school started.
Why aren’t the kids that’s there out of their zone aren’t the ones who have to relocate? Sounds like there’s some sort of favoritism being given to students there who are out of their zones! This is why this country and world is falling because of favoritism, entitlement and ignorance! Out of zone students should only fill openings after the in zone students are placed!
That is insane, those not zoned should be trabsferred to a school they are zoned for first. Here they only get in vua lottery after local kids get their spots first.
Hope they can work this out. I was the kid in this situation 54 years ago. Socially - thankfully there was another girl a couple of miles away in the same boat. Otherwise I didn't really fit with the kids in my immediate neighborhood because of being in a different school. And getting together with classmates could be difficult because of the distance (8 miles). My parents usually had at least 2 different schools to deal with & sometimes as many as 3 (4 kids). If they can't work something out, put all of there kids in the other school.
How disappointing that this is how the school board works out these kind of situation. Of course keeping the parents out of the resolution. You drop your kids off at school their life, welfare or business is no longer for you to know about. That belongs to the board of education, the teacher, and the school. You give up your rights as soon as you enter the school grounds.
I think it should be based on radius outward 360°, whoever lives the absolute furthest away should be the #1 and now whoever is furthest is #2 until you reach all 13. If that kid gets swept up and transferred or not so be it. That should be posted as the policy with a city map and the rings are maybe ⅓ mile so you will always know where you're at.

I bet you get a $50,000 out of court settlement. It's a standard school board settlement when they have done wrong. Make sure to find a lawyer and don't let them get way with this. It's their fault, and it hurts the child. Don't take a penny less.

What does the size of the child have to do with it? It's about student teacher ratio. Yes, one extra student (13 in this case) can make a difference. Student to teacher ratios are about the teacher's ability to provide attention and differentiation needed by each child. It doesn't have to do with the size of children. illegal peoples probably
Gotta be the Irish
Only 13kids is highly suspicious
One is one too many.
There needs to be criminal charges filed against the principal.
Now that's not right based on registration it needs to be on distance end of story
Whoa. This is going to be costly for the district.
If the student is in the zone for the school transfer out ones who aren't first cause the local school should be for local kids unless there is room

In my state that’s not legal. The school has to make changes to accommodate the students.

My guess is that this is a magnet school. The entire point of a magnet school is to bring in kids from outside the zone to enhance the school.
