  • I up grade the piston button , install better piston seal set up.
    Remove shroud and bend barrel to the P.O.I. of a zeroed scope.
    Make a metal trigger blade and share what I found on this trigger.
    cerakote the shroud back to looking nice and find a issue with the shroud tube shifting the PO.I. etc..

    Mike inspite of claims to the contrary these guns have been redesigned and are built by Gamo in Spain. As evidenced by the dreadful Gamo piston seal [ proper BSA's have a FWB type piston seal ] and the terrible Gamo trigger unit and anti beartrap unit. The original BSA trigger might not have been the best unit in the world but it was certainly head and shoulders above the Gamo unit. Having said all that both the BSA and the Gamo built guns are capable powerful guns, my advice throw away the gas ram fit decent piston seals and a quality spring [obviously if converting from gas ram you will need a piston liner and spring guides] and they will go to 17 fpe without any specialized tunning.If you know what you are about the .25 caliber version will go to 23 fpe plus. The Gaqmo built guns can have a problem with the breech jaws being too wide allowing the barrel to wobble and should be checked and adjusted if needed.Personally I would not touch the transfer port I have never found it necessary.

      Hi Dave
      This BSA I was going thru it for a friend who bought it, it was his cup of tea I was trying to improve it some. I could not stand how this thing was made.
      and look at air guns of Arizona they now have two bsa models in stock for some totally ridiculous price , for people who think the guns are like vintage originals

    Great video Mike, Have you ever though of DLC inside compression tube. My theory it reduce friction between tube and piston seal and maybe increase fps.

    • @MrSteppingstone888
      @MrSteppingstone888  5 месяцев назад

      What is DLC ? Cerakote has Micro slick which I have not attempted yet that would be the way to go.
      typical air chamber lube is burnished into the tube its not visible when done , seals today are not big enough so they loose some swept volume

      @@MrSteppingstone888 Diamond Like Coating (DLC) films feature high hardness, high wear resistance, low friction coefficient, high insulation, high chemical stability, high gas barrier properties, high anti-burning properties, high biocompatibility, and high infrared permeability.

    I just bought the BSA Meteor Super from AOA .. it's a great little lightweight rifle for squirrel hunting. Sure is much lighter than the Diana 56th carrying through the woods.

      @MrSteppingstone888  7 месяцев назад

      I bought one at the 199.00 sale price from AOA was going to go thru that and upgrade it like this lightening then decided to just return it, and get back to my other projects.
      trigger on that is not what I like and they are a pain to get something better out of it

      @@MrSteppingstone888 What upgrades was you planning on doing? Is there a way to get the BSA Meteor Super up to say 800 fps with a 14gr pellet? Do you know which higher pressure gas rams may work? Say from other Gamo rifles?

    • @MrSteppingstone888
      @MrSteppingstone888  7 месяцев назад

      pretty much the same as what I did for the Lightening in this video
      not sure what gas ram is the meteor from AOA lower uk one or stronger one like in this video

      @@MrSteppingstone888 Well I know 100% it's a 12lb version from watching the AOA review of it. If I was able to find the right gas ram I'd keep the original seal in the tube and just try for a bit larger transfer port. I seen where the Meteor Super and Lightning XL was showing the same fps in .22.. With a coupon I can buy a Gamo for about $85 which was showing 1100 fps in .22 .. Just wasn't sure if it's the same diameter as the Super. I like the unshrouded 19.5 barrel on the BSA and would put a silencer on the end since it has the 1/2x20 thread on the end. Would definitely be a great little lightweight rifle if I can get it up to 800 fps with a 14.3 pellet.

    a hello mike , a spring gun has a certain amount of air that gets the propelant , the transfer port diameter makes the air hotter ( the piston weight and spring force also ) and so the gets volume more . if a hole is to small you loose power , same if the hole is to large also , lesser heat lesser volume . hot air is thinner , the air wil flow better. . some rules short transferport/ small hole ,and if possible a port made of metal that not will take heat fast up and volume

    • @MrSteppingstone888
      @MrSteppingstone888  8 месяцев назад

      yes there's a balance in port hole length & size when its a factory hole its one with the tube but a changed port hole has the replacement, not sure with the brass verses steel but seams to do the job

    Hi Mike. That Lightning ⚡ looks pretty nice, but the trigger must kind of suck like a standard Gamo trigger? Can't wait for your Diana 34 video. I just got a 1993 Diana 34 177. It's sweet shooter, but it needs a new piston seal and spring. There was no lubricant inside and the spring was broken at the very bottom. I used a torch on it, knocked off the sharp edges, lubed the whole unit back up and it still does a solid 12 FPE and cocks and shoots very smooth. The trigger needs some TLC also, a little rust in it. I'm not going to touch it unless I see a good video of working on that trigger. BTW God bless and have a great Christmas ✝️🎄😃👍.

      I order new piston seal and breech seal and had to pull the barrel back out of the block for a re do on the breech seal this time I will make it the size the re placement O ring is, the one I used was larger and was causing a issue. the trigger screw on my TO6 was 3mm X .5 pitch I am finding the screw closet to the trigger blade needs to be longer .
      I bought a Walther Parrus in .22 good condition with a 97K from the same guy both still in the box they been sitting now for several weeks , mean while I have a vintage Beeman R 10 deluxe in .20 coming so its been a air gun frenzy lately ..
      Thank You and you have a warm safe God Blessed Christmas too !!

    Hi Mike, I took a look as you suggested and you are quite right silly expensive, and it is much the same story here, too much money for what you get. Whilst a very attractive gun [ I have two of these Spanish built lightnings ]they are not of the quality of the old BSA supersport/lightnings. I think the main problem is the terrible state of the European economy. Another reason is that for the last forty years or so the BSA airguns have been pushed as the Rolls Royce of airguns in Spain driving up demand and price in their new country of manufacture. It would appear that this is a truly international con. Both BSA and Gamo are now owned by Remington who also own several other manufacturers and distribution outlets here in the UK they own Milbro and Sports Marketing amongst others, I have tried to find out who owns Remington these days but the trail goes cold.there was at one time a listing for a couple of Asian guys but that disappeared. It would appear that there is a great deal of skullduggery going on in the world of arms manufacture that is not being referred to through the usual monopolies boards which rather suggests high level corruption.Very strange things were happening at Webley and Scot before they went down in 2006 new directors every month or two, something was obviously wrong there.But there were no reports to be found, interesting that a major British arms manufacturer could get into trouble and not a word in the media. Thats all by the by quality control has obviously slipped with bsa/gamo at least as far as the springers are concerned the PCP's are still made in the UK. I was interested to see what was going on inside the moderators a rather odd configuration what surprises me most is that they seem to work so well. I recently acquired a HW moderator never again what a piece of junk, now there is a major rip off touting forty year old tec like it's gods gift at those prices I dont know how they have the nerve.

      the air gun world is locked up also forum wise its greed and money.
      Hatsan is strange also they know exactly what there doing and refuse to use quality steel and proper quality control on the barrels, their steel is so junky you cant even heat treat it to harden it, machinist laugh when they see a barrel block. I am currently having some steel barrel blocks made for the big magnums
      I been able to turn that entire magnum around and hone it in to accurate and smooth

      If you mean not in line with the breech port I would say if it works leave it, check your other weihrauchs and post pics on your forum to get other reports
      breech port holes can be re drilled and re centered depending on where the original one was made and looking down at the inside bottom of the air chamber to see how close it is to the receiver walls

      @@Double-xposure Not to my knowledge far as 135 125 both are powerful guns and I think the hatsan 95 has a 4mm port hole.
      the port hole change gets a little smaller as the gun is made for lower power or when the piston stroke is shorter like a hw 80 and like that bsa Lightning in.22 it got a hair below 600fps
