Glad you enjoyed it, and yes! You don't need expensive gear to take photos of the night sky, just a bit of know-how, which is what this video tutorial is all about.

Great video thanks Charles like all the other video's of yours that I have watched it was clear concise and very informative. I am a newbie to photography and my interest leans towards astrophotography. I live in Morayfield and I believe that you live a little bit closer to Brisbane than me so when you say that you took these photo's at a park near you I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing this location. Many thanks David
Glad it was helpful!. This spot is very easy to find, just drive down to Dohles Rocks > there's a sharp left-hand turn just when you get near the Pine River and this tree is in the park that's on your left. You can't miss it.
Thank you for this video, last night I tried with my Nikon D3500 and the kit lens 18-55.. The thing is it's supposedly should let me use F3.5 but I could only set it at F4.5..... any idea why ?? the thing I'm still missing it a led lantern to help me focus on done object, but I got some shots .. and have a happy new year !!!! Nice tips you have !!
@@CharlesNPhotography well, it was set on 18 mm, also manual focus, manual mode... No zoom as this is not a wide angle lens... But if I tried to change aperture it would stay at f4.5 🤔
the best video about milky way photography.
Thank you so much for your comment
Like your clear and concise teaching. Best of all is telling people to try it with the equipment they have.
I appreciate that!, and yes! the best way to learn is to go out and try it for yourself. That is how I learnt how to take better photos.

Excellent video thanks. I’ve been struggling to get Milky Way photos and I think it’s because I’ve had my ISO set to auto.
Glad it was helpful!, When shooting at night it is recommended that you don't use Auto-ISO

You'll only get f3.5 at 18mm, so if you zoom in the aperture will go up
