sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
After watching you I got into sharpening myself. I could never achieve a sharp edge until watching your videos. I now sharpen for all my friends. I have a cheap hardware store low grit (didn't say which grit it was!) for rough grinding, two Naniwa stones (1000 and 5000) and a slate stone. I hope to get some more before long. Thank you so much for your teaching. You are a good teacher, even though you may not be teaching professionally. I look forward to your future sharpening videos!
Good video. I bought the Woodstock after seeing one of your videos. after a year or so I truly love it. definitely suggest it to anyone looking to start out. now I'm looking to get some more good stones
It is truly a great "get you started" stone! Time for a couple single-grit stones now though! I'd start with a coarse grit stone: the blue/black shapton kuromaku is a great option!
@@kyle_noseworthy Thank you for the suggestion, I'm definitely going to consider it. I also look forward to seeing videos on your new stones. Thanks again for the great videos
Hey kyle. Local canadian knife maker, sharper and restorer and just picked up a 320, 1000 and 5000 shapton and was wondering if you had any issues with you water stones getting moldy, musty or generally stinky afyer awhile.. ive taken to soaking them in vinegar diluted water every so often,(not the splash and go stones, just the soaking ones) but still am having issues. I always let them dry before storing.
Love the drone shots. I've always loved perspective of a birds eye view. I've been meaning to get you to put an edge on my fillet knives, one of these days.
Nice stone choices, you dont need both the 10000 and the 12000... shapton and naniwa uses different grit ratings, and these 2 stones are actually the same particle size
I just dove down the rabbit hole and got Dan’s 8x2 Arkansas soft/hard and black stones. I also added a spyderco medium ceramic bench stone to go with my Spyderco Ultra Fine bench stone. I can’t wait for Mail day!!!
I'd like to get a 12k Shapton eventually. The 10k Chosera/professional is a Stone that needs to be experienced by anyone who loves sharpening. Its so smooth and buttery with great feedback. It leaves a great finish if you took your time and went through your stone progression. Not for every steel but for vg10 and 154cm class and under its a pleasure to use. I'd like to try the 5k Chosera too but the Shapton 5k fills that need. One if their best stones alongside 1k and 2k imo. Not a fan of the 8k and I just go from 5k to 10k.
That old tractor is a beautiful thing! Gorgeous stones. Paul has awesome stuff. I have a 2016 F150 with a 5.0 V8. Absolutely love it. Sounds like you went with the eco boost. Good luck with it 🥴Hope this finds you and yours doing well.
Kyle Noseworthy The 5.0 is an incredible motor. I modded mine with a Boss 302 intake and a custom exhaust that exits before the rear tire on the passenger side. It’s, uhmmm, a tiny bit loud but crazy fast
@@MattP-BandB haha I'm considering an exhaust change, but only VERY minimal. I'd love JUST A TOUCH more volume, but that's it. I think just swapping the stock muffler would do it.
Kyle Noseworthy I went with Flowmaster Outlaws for the mufflers. For a more mellow sound but still nice and deep, check out Magnaflow. I think you would be pleased.
When you use the green brick does it have uniform color? Or does it get spots? Ive noticed that my green brick gets spots on it and it came with all the lettering worn off the bottom.
There is a way to turn off the seatbelt chime on the new Fords. They understand that a guy or gal driving a truck may need to drive around without their seatbelt on. Check ur manual pg 43-44
And here I thought you were going to pull out the cerax bricks, or the debado bricks.... But I do hope you're enjoying the green brick of joy. There's nothing like getting that razor sharp edge!
Shapton Pro 12k is my least favourite stone to use but edge of it is awesome.. Screaming sharp , no stropping needed.. But 10k chosera/pro/arata is the most beautyfull stone to finish on.. Elastic, soft feeling , no loading at all... But price difference is brutal.. 250-300$ vs 70-80$
I know what you mean when it comes to loving and collecting stones I collect oilstones and I flatten them and I have diamonds stones and all three of the Spyderco ceramic stones and I love them all and use them all
Fun fact: 青 _ao_ means 'green' and also 'blue' - in Japanese they also have 緑 _midori_ which also means 'green'... Japanese is kinda whacky like that. Now go and sharpen something on the 刃の黒幕 stone. :D
I would like to say Kyle that your videos and sharing your knowledge and lifestyle with us during these challenging and life threatening times is a most welcomed moment.. You will find that the Shapton Pro is a bit coarser than the Naniwa Pro 10 000#. And a bit more aggressive than the Naniwa's. You will enjoy the heck out of the green brick. It's a great stone and lasts of course forever. ❤️🔪
Theres something about a man when they talk about something they're passionate about, its just cute Edit: i mean, im a guy, no homo, but i guess now i see what women see in men
Sharpening stones are a waste of money. I've been into knives for well over 25 years and the best way I found to get a knife hair shaving sharp is by using a 400 grit diamond sharpener and finish it off with a ceramic honing rod (5-7 min tops!). I just saved you 30 min of torture and money at could have been wasted on a fancy rock which costs an arm and a leg! And just because a knife loses it's edge doesn't mean it needs sharpening, it just needs a few passes on a honing rod, this gives your knife a longer life.
I use diamond then polish on some ceramic and finish up with a charged strop. Good enough for my chisels and plane irons. If I can't get back to work in a couple of minutes it is not worth my time.
5-7 minutes isn’t particularly fast, and shaving hair is not particularly difficult. If you’re woodworking it makes a huge difference to have a polished edge vs one that is merely sharp from something like 1-2k grit. A simple 3-4 stone progression can get a tool from too dull to work to as sharp as one could ever need in about 2 minutes and the investment in the stones is well worth it because the stones will last at least one lifetime.
I'll wrestle you Kyle... I live in Maine... I know my way thru Canada.. You better bring me a few 2.2kg bags of curd cheese... thats what I want for beating your ass in a wrestling match.
Put your seatbelt on man. The beeping will magically stop 😂
Thank you Gaylen ..Right on
You can't disconnect those things anymore ,the transmission will shut down ,on Fords anyway

@@geo52041 I wonder if you bought the end of an old seat belt and clicked it in, would it stop the beep??

Would like to hear your take on the 5000 vs 10000 Naniwa. What do you notice after making that step in sharpening?
Very informative... thanks
How do you keep track of the grit of the unmarked stones? Just memory? Feel?

It will be very interesting to compare. With the shapton being ceramic, I think the results will be quite different
