I really love this. I'm quite fond of designs that have a lot of white in them, relying on the spread of dye and potential color splits to do the work.
Looks super cool. Like a trail on the top of a ridge on an alien world. With different colors on each side of the line it could represent a boundry patrol path or something, very awesome. So interesting how many different kinds of colors come out of one when running along fabric like that.
I love the 3-D effects where the colors drift and dissipate. It looks like an optical illusion. It reminds me of the water erosion-like texture of a barren landscape, viewed from an airplane. 👍🏻
Good morning Angie I have seen her work on Facebook also been wanting to try wasn’t quite sure where to start definitely going to try it now thanks so much for sharing and the shirt looks fantastic😁✌️
This is really neat and you're super helpful. I have to admit though, the thing that stuck out the most is the way you're like "I put it outside where it's over 100°" as if it's nothing. 🤣
Thank you! 🤣 Unfortunately, 100 degrees has been pretty common lately. Yesterday it was 108 and the same is expected for the next few days. The heat makes beautiful tie dye though!
Going to have to try this one; I have a history with lightning-- nine nearby strikes to date, starting when I was three years old and a tree was struck one house over. The home I grew up in was struck three times, causing a fire once, and the rest of the strikes have been while I was driving (palm trees look like giant matches when they catch on fire!), while I was at work, and while I was at home.) **shrugs** I have no clue why, but so long as they keep missing I'm okay with it. This shirt is PERFECT. Thank you!
i dont think it looks like lightning (i wouldnt have guessed that without being told first) but i do like how the dye separated into its makeup colors. it made a really cool effect
FWIW: I would prefer the "dark" band next to the white "lightning" to be much wider before spreading out into color splits. But I appreciate seeing this new technique. Would it be possible to do some "sub-lightening" sinew ties branching off the main one? That would be very cool!
I wonder if a version could be done on a black shirt using White Brite or something similar? If you want to take this as a challenge, I'd be thrilled. :)
Ive tried a few of these and im not getting these distinct white lines where you tie the sinew. I tie very tight and the dyes still saturated throughout and I dont get lines. Color splits are amazing though.
I'm sorry to hear that. I use a sinew puller to get my sinew super tight. Without the puller, I was pulling my sinew as tight as I could but I wasn't happy with my lines. I was amazed how much tighter I was able to get the sinew using a puller. Before I was just pulling with the roll of sinew. The sinew roll had too much give and didn't work as well for me as the puller does. I'm not sure if you use a puller or not, but it worked wonders for my sinew lines.
Lightning struck a huge tree in my backyard a few years ago. Bark went in all directions for yards and yards. The concussive force actually blew my patio umbrella over my house. The tree was still standing but since it was a couple of feet off our property, we asked the neighbors to cut it down because it could easily fall on our house. The wanted to burn it instead. After several tries, asking if they were insane, since it was in a thicket and up against an old shed(Seriously???!!!) they agreed to cut it down. We have since moved. Thank goodness.
Wow - that's crazy! The lightning thankfully didn't make the tree fall or it would've fallen on our house. I hated having to cut it down, but after consulting a specialist they said that it was our only option.
@@FunEndeavors Yeah, that usually is the end for a tree, sadly. Now I have a pecan tree that stands at least twice as tall as my house in my immediate front yard. Makes me nervous but hey, free pecans!
My sister seen lightening hit the power pole n start traveling down the line..she raced to the house but was to late n everything plugged in burnt up..tv, toaster, water heater n furance... Not sure what i thunk of the shirt but i will she it..thanks for sharing
Lightning is really powerful. Everything that wasn't plugged into a surge protector in our house was damaged too. Even the neighbors on the side of the house where the tree was had items damaged that weren't on a surge protector.

looks more like a stormy sky to me with one bad looking cloud. hehehe good job Angie.

This is so beautiful! It's kind of giving me lightening on the shoreline vibes! They dye on both sides of the white line look like waves!!
Thank you! That's a great description for it!
So pretty, the splits are so beautiful, I really love it.
Thank you so much! 😊
I love this, Angie, so many techniques waiting to happen. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much!
I love this shirt, it looks to me, like a mountain ridge top. Beautiful. ✌🏻❤️
Thank you! I really like this one too!
Great results. I agree with you about spacing out the zig zags on the lightening bolt.
Thank you! I think that will look better too.
Oh I really like that nightshade
Thank you! I do too - it is such a pretty color!
I’ve seen a lot of these in the Facebook forums. Thanks for sharing your method.
Yes, they are really popular right now. I think they are fun to do!

Looks fantastic! I don't have nightshade, I wonder if indigo would work.

How fun! Love it

Hey. Do U wrap your projects with plastic wrap/ cling wrap to let them cure or not. Thanx
No, I usually don't wrap my ice dyes.
Nice!
Thanks! 🙂

What do you use to make the line in the shirt?
I use an artificial deer sinew that I purchase from Amazon. Here is a link: amzn.to/2EF28Lu
