I really liked Aiden's revenge story and how it was shown to affect him and his family life, it feels how someone in his situation could act. In a DLC for Watch Dogs Legion if I'm not mistaken, we're shown how deep Aiden was affected by the death of his niece, he's shown digging a grave and constantly replaying the moment he shot Maurice in his head over and over, as if it's the only thought that tells him "I did all I could" to bring himself comfort because he knows it was his fault but still blames himself for her death. The way he acts as being stoic and 'wooden' is about how I would expect someone put through the psychological wringer would act; quiet and acting almost exclusively in the interest of people he loves even to self destruction, which to an outsider looks like he's simply being selfish, but is honestly the reaction I would expect from who is essentially a career criminal who bit off more than he could chew, got fucked over, and had his family pay for his actions, causing him to obsessively do whatever he thinks will keep them safe (being distant) and doing anything and sacrificing anyone to help them (putting Bedbug in mortal danger with no real regard for his safety). If you look at Aiden for what he is, a deeply troubled and traumatized man who would kill himself if his sister didn't exist, his actions make much more sense and he becomes much more likeable. As for his personality, I felt Aiden, his sister, and Jackson were all relatively 'stiff' and quiet, with other characters like Damien, Iraq, and T-Dog having much more personality, and I think that was intentional (or at least partially so) because, again, of the trauma they (the Pearces) experienced so recently, making all of them sort of quiet, reserved, and seemingly 'empty' which gets contrasted by other characters who either have already dealt with their trauma and got past it, were not affected nearly to the same degree, or simply never had an event traumatic enough to change them.
i like the Rudy D'Avanso theme from GTA Chinatown Wars when Clara died. It actually fits, because you meet Rudy at a graveyard, and Clara died at a graveyard.
24:00 Saying Aiden is selfish for choosing to enact vigilante justice instead of appreciating the family he has left is like saying Bruce Wayne is selfish for using his wealth to play dress up at night with cool toys as the Batman to beat the shit out of bad guys instead of fully pursuing philanthropy, curing cancer and ending poverty around the world. They are both still extremely badass, which is why we love characters like them so much, which reflects our own selfishness in a way LOL
Sure, revenge is inherently a selfish thing, but it’s not like it isn’t understandable. When somebody kills a member of your family, especially if it’s a child, YOU’RE GONNA BE MAD ABOUT IT
This is kind of personal favorite, it was one of the few games I had on my xbox360 back in the day; the vibes that felt like the game tried to make a sort techno-noir aesthetic, the combat that made you feel like a badass (if you didn't care for stealth), heck I even used to think Aiden was kinda cool, like a sort of punisher with "hacker powers", they even kept going into that brand with the encounter you have with him in WD2 Is one of those games that you cannot stop thinking how good it could have been if it wasn't for it's flops in both writing and gameplay, Aiden had a lot of potential as a character; to learn over his mistakes after losing everything, then he does lose everything and he's still ok about it (honestly it felt like deep down he only gets a rush of thinking he's batman or something) and things like the driving can feel a bit stiff compared to similar games like gta, hacking also felt like your get out of jail for free card in most car chases Is a deeply flawed game but I just cannot stop liking it, on how good it is as a concept and also honestly out of just pure nostalgia
I agree as far as his personality. I felt the movement was more fluid than any non Assassins creed gam. Holding the trigger to run was buttery smooth something that GTA should have implemented in Grand Theft Auto IV really. Mechanically that exist in the game would be the Collision glitches but the advanced players exploited that and it became gameplay for the high competitive levels
Played the game a month ago for the first time, but I still agree w/ya Honestly I think that the driving is better than in gta because of the car "classes"
Watch_Dogs will always be that odd game I am unsure how I feel about in retrospect, it's practically the game that made "Bullshot" (The term where you show something in a game trailer/presentation then entirely change it) into the mainstream, I will always remember the initial E3 showings to what we got as something so many people were disappointed with. And that sort of tarnished the game as a whole in my memory, so it will be interesting to see how this video goes through it, great work as always.
Didn't say it was, it was just one of the first game to make it a regular known thing, everyone on youtube and across social media was talking about the trailer and game being night and day different.@UnjustifiedRecs
Watch Dogs 1 was so underrated! I’m surprised they haven’t made a movie out of it yet! If done right, it could be another Mission Impossible type! I’d love to see it!
Honestly watch dogs 1 feels like it takes aspects from 2004s punisher & Christian Bale's batman. Like Aiden can be an absolute terrifying presence at times because he can just be a poltergeist but can also hunt you down punisher style
Watch Mr. Robot, is a great series that really reminds me of Watch Dogs outside the vigilante-esque parts of it. I mean, if you liked everything about the hacking stuff, I'll recommend it
This is genuinely one of Ubisoft's best crafted open worlds, at least on mood and vibes alone. The atmosphere, lighting and art direction are superb when strolling through a rainy night in the city. And when they get down to it, Ubisoft can make especially lively NPCs, and they're definitely so here. Take that and pair it with what's arguablly some of the best 3rd person combat for that genre of that generation, this game is a newfound gem a near decade later.
1:15:25 Fun fact, the PC version actually has many of the visual effects on the code, but they are deactivated by default, and there's no in game menu, so you have to download a mod to get those effects back in the game
This has been my favourite channel for the passed two years nearly. Keep up the great content, sadly can't watch the Yakuza vid, as I'm currently playing the entire franchise (halfway through 0). But I can't wait to binge watch it
I feel like I say this about a lot of characters but Aiden is done perfectly. You can argue that his character wasn't the right fit for the story (I'd still disagree) but you cannot say he wasn't played and written well. Sure he's boring and bland and blah blah blah, thats the point and it was done well. I'll never understand the people who can't decipher between their dislike for something and that thing actually being good or bad. I don't love Aidens character but its done well and I can respect that.
"Vengance histories have become vengance le bad" *Complains that the main protagonist don't suffer enough consequences for his actions or care that much about it"
Watch_Dogs uses a virtual thumbstick for mouse aim that gets more sensitive the farther away from the "center" it gets. Good luck figuring out where that is. We have yet to find a confirmed fix for this, but I have a couple ideas. The aim assist is also actively detrimental to getting headshots, so turn it all the way down Getting a takedown instantly refills your entire focus meter. Watch_Dogs can be played as a cover shooter the same way the new Lego Star Wars can be played as an RPG, but it's actually a push forward action shooter in the style of Doom Eternal. You have to manage three resources: Distance, time, and health. The more you can reduce distance between you and your enemies, the more takedowns you can get, but this takes time. Cover swapping can make rushing faster, but if someone jumps you while you're in the open, you can only react by going into focus. Bombs make nearby enemies stagger even if you don't aim them very well, so just tapping right bumper to quickfire them is usually enough since precision aiming takes valuable time. Focus gives you time to aim, mitagating the damage you take from enemies who can scarcely get off a single shot before you can instantly kill them with a headshot. If you're running low on health, cover can temporarily protect you, but the longer you stay there, the more enemies will increase the distance between you and them, limiting your ability to replenish your resources. Some pieces of cover also create flanking routes if you move along them, but don't shoot until you have to. If you're aggressive enough, the focus meter as a resource almost becomes irrelevant because you're always topped up. The Focus Boost pills are redundant, and if you ever find yourself needing to reload it means you're making bad shot placement and mismanaging focus. When you see people talking about this as a John Wick game, this is what they mean. Check out Visceral_Carnage, AnarchySaint, and my own videos for some examples. The combat is the main selling point and doesn't function very well as a soft failure state for stealth even on the highest difficulty
you should definitely try out the second game; it was the first game i ever got a platinum for on ps and while the main story isn’t that good overall imo i found that the gameplay was extremely fun and kept me going for 100+ hours
I don’t get how y’all like 2…it started of promising and I love the city and all this but it’s crazy repetitive to me and it’s definitely more hacker based while your character doesn’t do much besides use the computer or hack cameras. I choose normal difficulty and on most of the missions I find doing stealth basically pointless unless you’re really on your a game or want to restart a few times. It just got annoying more so to me at least the main story missions…watch dogs 1 just had way better progression in terms of the levels you get.
I've played thru Watch Dogs twice, and both times I forgot Jordi mentioned the Car On Demand app in the beginning. So I just stole random cars thru the whole game. I agree with you about Clara. I really liked her, but wish there was more to her character. I didn't think about it before, but I feel like mayor Donovan should've had a more prominent role in the story for the video reveal to hold more weight...or Rose Washington's death should've been more relevant, I guess. I love Watch Dogs 1, but don't care for the second game. I'm 50/50 on Legion.
1:15:34 the files for the improved graphics are actually in the game. I think you just need Mods to unlock them so you can have the quality that was showcased in the E3 demo.
I really like this game, the jump between this and Watch Dogs 2 are just so... huge, its very interesting, both have a lot of interesting things on offer, but its so hard to see how they are related if not for DEDSEC and hacking.. and ubisoft
I personally loved the story I wish we had features like new gameplus. I also wish they remove the reputation system its not really a good systems its just there. Only time it matters is during a anarchist run.
I remember in some commentary say Aiden selfishness partially insured Walter white which make sense in how he is both the hero and the villain of the story
Fantastic video. I will say though: Watch_Dogs 2 explores the themes that were “window dressing” here far FAR better, and way more. It’s definitely way lighter in tone, but the story is so much stronger. You should definitely give it a go!
You can rescue Jackson quietly without alerting the guards and also, if you take everyone out quietly before getting Nicky out then it spares doing the annoying escort thing. She just runs to the car.

Hey FuzzySlippers, great video but one thing I want to point out is Fixers are more like quest givers and Solos/Mercs are more like mercenaries. Aiden would not be a Fixer, he would be a Merc, as he does quest for people given by others most of the time.
Chicago has been done before, Midtown Madness and Driver 2 come to mind and they had MUCH more accurate Chicago. In this game it doesn't resemble the layout or shape at all. It's just a random city they called Chicago and that's it.
@@icarusgaming6269 Yet they made a pretty accurate San Francisco and London. So style doesn't mean anything. They just didn't bother to try, that bit is true.
@@Xegethra That's because the sequels, especially WD2, removed every aspect of the genre and replaced it with something completely different, as Ubisoft does with all of their sequels

Imma have to replay this for chievos sometime. You could bait people to hacking you in the first one using the Blume employee's. I would sit at the top of a park garage and find a Blume employee to trigger getting invaded. Some cars in the garage would have triggers on them to explode so you just angle them in the cameras and boom. Best part was chilling on the top floor in the taco van.
I only just played this for the first time last month. It started off rather slow for me but once I got into Act 2 I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked Aiden and was invested in his story.
I never use I for inventory, it is far too much out of reach if you quickly need to access it. That is why it is on TAB. For I you need to sacrifice character movement.

8:28 Older keyboards? Modern keyboards still use the arrows symbol for Tab. I bought a new keyboard for my work PC about a year ago, and it has the arrows symbol on the Tab key. Same thing with the wireless keyboard I bought for my PS5 a couple of months ago. And even my MSI laptop has the arrows on the Tab key, although it's a few years old now (bought in 2019). I'm suprised someone who uses computers daily dont know what that symbol means. Not sure it's the age thing tho. Maybe a modern gamer thing lol Also, it's DedSec, not DedSect.

The drill music fan part of me is slightly disappointed that iraq (whos name was clearly a play on 'chiraq') didnt have a switch on his glock, ya know, for realism, since just about everyone involved in crime in chicago has a switch nowadays. If you're unfamiliar with what a switch is, to put it simply, it's a simple modification that, at the flip of a *switch* turns a semi auto glock into a bullet spraying, wildly innacurate sub machine gun capable of dumping an entire mag in less than a second, which is why many people fit them with 100 round drums. I know its unreasonable for me to expect a bunch of middle age video game devs in montreal to know about this stuff, but switches are such an iconic piece of Chicago's underworld not including them to me feels like making a shooter set in a former soviet bloc country with no ak-47s. Now also imagine that they did give iraq a switch and merged the two underwhelming confrontation scenes with him aiden and bedbug, but instead of letting of 2 wimpy ass shots at aiden suddenly brrrrttt!!! (the best way to describe what this sounds like is like a mini warthog strike) he dumps a whole mag at him in a less thsn second, in the process leaving aiden fighting for his life ala-lincoln from mafia 3, but also accidentally kills bedbug with his stray fire (people killing their own friends by accident due to the nearly uncontrollable spray of fire is realistic too, happens all the time irl) this would actually serve to actually punish aiden's recklessness by severely injuring him, he indirectly also is responsible for killing bedbug, bedbug actually *dies this time* while iraq undoubtedly still the 'villain' of the situation, and it's a more accurate portrayal of chicagos underworld. Everyone wins. Although if I could change the story entirely how I'D want to see it written, I'd go with the same setup i just mentioned, but Iraq also kills aiden with the burst of fire...a booming drill bass line would fade in as the screen fades to black, and as the background track begins to grow louder it fades back to Iraq recording a song dissing the now deceased aiden and bedbug, as the game rolls to credits. I think that is the best and only way to do the 'revenge is bad' plotline correctly, as the message of the game is that seeking revenge usually doesn't end in a dramatic confrontation, or losing everything to find answers, but rather usually ends brutally and abruptly, before any sense of satisfaction can be derived from their ultimately fruitless efforts, as their deaths ultimately only serve to further the perpetual cycle of violence the pursuit of revenge brings in its wake. Was this a 'hits blunt' moment comment? Yes. Definitely didn't mean to write a whole novel, but shit, ubisoft clearly couldnt be bothered to write a decent believable narrative so i figured id take a crack at it. Honestly the watchdogs series could have/still could be so much more impactful if Ubisoft werent 'deadsec' (terrible deadset pun sorry) on all of the protagonists being these one note 'morally good-white hat hacker' archetypes, which is REALLY apparent in legion, where a player character will say 'dont you want to help out the people of london my dudes" like he didnt just kill 40 people in a blaze of bullets and explosions 2 minutes before recruiting this person. Said person will then send you to a place where the player char will kill ~a dozen further people to "help them out" and they'll happily say "I cant wait to be fighting for the good guys!". Dont forget, this is the game where i literally can see that one of the guards I killed to please this recruit was a 34 year old named Larry Simmons who has a wife named Lisa and a sister named Naomi and that Larry enjoys baking shortbread in his free time, and his wife and sister will mourn his death every day, actually going to the cemetery every day to do so, but yeah, we're still just always unquestionably "the good guys just helping people in need out" if only ubisoft just were less afraid to break away from the_
Last month I played the first Watch dogs game and honestly, I was blown away. The driving wasn't bad at all, in fact I'd say it was even better than in gta 5. The story (alright, maybe not), the gameplay, everything is just peak. My only nitpick is the spec ops 1911 right at the start is just too op. All things considered, one of Ubisoft's best works Wanted to add 2 things. First, Brian Reitzell did a phenomenal job with the OST as well as for the songs used in game. Second, in act 4 mission In plain sight, the cameraas can actually ID you
Slippers are you a fan of Lara Croft? If so can you do a retrospective for the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy? (Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider) The rebooted story for Tomb Raider is pretty good and the gameplay in all 3 games is pretty solid.
So is someone who's played it pretty religiously since it was released (my channel was almost exclusively Watch Dogs content and I was the co-founder for the multiplayer online Wiki )almost every day and I've taken a break from it over maybe a year I suppose this is how I feel. I had no expectations because I bought it blind so everything was a positive one of my first forays into the 7th generation everything was mind-blowing. I had only the GTA 3 and 4 to compare it to but it felt buttery smooth in all the movements especially running with the single trigger that could be held instead of rapidly tapping a button. The lack of a jump button was curious especially being that it said in the same Assassin's Creed universe and running off of one of the engines. (A Japanese player known as Kouichi developed a workaround for this, like the flat ground Ollie Rodney Mullen developed it forms the basis of all climbing.) The story felt generic but serious post cyberpunk Noir atmosphere I loved and something that could not let go of when presented with the sequels. I do hope more people play the game for the multiplayer especially and the exploration as knowing the map intimately and the glitches and exploits and how to climb buildings is the very core of the satisfying Enlightenment one gets from the high-level competitive hide and seek play.
@icarusgaming6269 it's not a mod you have to unlock the blast resistance perk to allow you to not instantly die from an explosion and then stand on a grenade. You can also throw a proximity IED down and run towards it at an angle to blast yourself backwards at an angle to clear rooftops. Fanning the left trigger and right trigger with a Noob Tube will allow you to blow yourself in the air and this can be used to assess fire escapes that you can run to a rooftop with but some of the rooftops have broken fire escapes that you need to double bomb jump with by putting another bomb down stepping on one bomb and when you're in mid-air activate the other bomb to rag doll yourself up the side of the building
WD2 was too edgy for its own good. For me personally. The first one had grit and a dark feeling to it. The second one was a total contrast to that. Admittedly I only played 4 hours of the 2nd one. But I had enough at that point. Maybe it got better?
No, it doesn't. I tried replaying it a few years ago and didn't even finish it this time around, somehow I didn't notice how annoying the characters are the first time. I guess I just grew out of that phase. That's weird to think about..
Edgy? Is one of those games that you cannot stop thinking how good it could have been if it wasn't for it's flops in both writing and gameplay, Aiden had a lot of potential as a character; to learn over his mistakes after losing everything, then he does lose everything and he's still ok about it (honestly it felt like deep down he only gets a rush of thinking he's batman or something) and things like the driving can feel a bit stiff compared to similar games like gta, hacking also felt like your get out of jail for free card in most car chases
Is a deeply flawed game but I just cannot stop liking it, on how good it is as a concept and also honestly out of just pure nostalgia
Played the game a month ago for the first time, but I still agree w/ya
Honestly I think that the driving is better than in gta because of the car "classes"
@UnjustifiedRecs It was definitely the most well known example (at least of that generation, like how Killzone 2 was for the 7th gen)
I love when I see a fuzzyslippers video pop up on my notis, keep the videos goin man, you’re doin really great
Watch Dogs 1 was so underrated! I’m surprised they haven’t made a movie out of it yet! If done right, it could be another Mission Impossible type! I’d love to see it!
There’s is nothing mission impossible related to watch dogs it’s a crime thriller mission impossible is a bombastic blockbuster that makes no sense 💀
@@amazanta1605 Well can I tell you what makes even less sense, complaining about a comment on RUclips.
@@freddieb1903I’m not complaining I’m just saying it’s a complete different genre nothing wrong with not agreeing with someone
They didn't deliver with what they showed in the E3, but the graphics are still great
1:15:25 Fun fact, the PC version actually has many of the visual effects on the code, but they are deactivated by default, and there's no in game menu, so you have to download a mod to get those effects back in the game
That is actually false, there are few unused presets but using them does not equal to the original pre-downgrade graphics
Pls share link for a workable mod. I'm using dodi repack version

Watch Dogs is such an underrated game series. Except Watch Dogs Legion with no bloodline dlc. *we dont talk about that one.*

Been watching for a min and finally subbed. You deserve it man

"Vengance histories have become vengance le bad"
*Complains that the main protagonist don't suffer enough consequences for his actions or care that much about it"
Watch_Dogs uses a virtual thumbstick for mouse aim that gets more sensitive the farther away from the "center" it gets. Good luck figuring out where that is. We have yet to find a confirmed fix for this, but I have a couple ideas. The aim assist is also actively detrimental to getting headshots, so turn it all the way down
Getting a takedown instantly refills your entire focus meter.
4:35 Dude this scene seriously never gets old.
you should definitely try out the second game; it was the first game i ever got a platinum for on ps and while the main story isn’t that good overall imo i found that the gameplay was extremely fun and kept me going for 100+ hours
Yes please I need a 2 hour WD2 vid
I made myself a NG+ save for the video I'm working on by grinding with the train exploit. It was a pain the ass lol
Always a pleasure with the vidoes brining back nostalgia for my old games
i was literally thinking about Watch Dogs out of the blue today, i booted up and played a bit of 2 cuz of it

I remember in some commentary say Aiden selfishness partially insured Walter white which make sense in how he is both the hero and the villain of the story
57:18 That film is a classic! Might re-watch it myself later on.
Fantastic video. I will say though: Watch_Dogs 2 explores the themes that were “window dressing” here far FAR better, and way more. It’s definitely way lighter in tone, but the story is so much stronger. You should definitely give it a go!
7:22 Yes, I used to play with a floppy disk like a toy 2 decades ago.
I always really enjoyed WatchDogs, imo one of the best games of the 2010s
You can rescue Jackson quietly without alerting the guards and also, if you take everyone out quietly before getting Nicky out then it spares doing the annoying escort thing. She just runs to the car.

I remember getting introduced to watch dogs back in 2016 when I used to watch clips of people playing the game and messing around with the hacking system and I ended up playing it, the story was awesome and it's open world was pretty cool to explore.
Can't wait to see you cover Watch Dogs 2.

Hey FuzzySlippers, great video but one thing I want to point out is Fixers are more like quest givers and Solos/Mercs are more like mercenaries. Aiden would not be a Fixer, he would be a Merc, as he does quest for people given by others most of the time.
I played this game like Batman, only non-lethals. Couple of those car crashes might have been iffy though 😭
This game is an underated masterpiece 10/10
Chicago has been done before, Midtown Madness and Driver 2 come to mind and they had MUCH more accurate Chicago. In this game it doesn't resemble the layout or shape at all. It's just a random city they called Chicago and that's it.
Lol it's a heavily stylized neo-noir techno dystopia. It's not trying to be accurate
@@icarusgaming6269 The sequels are still technological dystopias, they are set in the same world. There is no reason for Chicago to not look like Chicago.
Its crazy that the people working driver series worked on this game and yet the driving feels so bad, like really bad

I remember playing watch dogs 1 when I was like 9 or 10 and hacked into some dudes camera and it was a guy beating his shi while his baby cries and the dad just keeps going anyways and says sum weird 😭
Maybe a modern gamer thing lol
Also, it's DedSec, not DedSect.
I haven't gotten to watch this yet but have my like and comment. I know you earned it already, you always do.

She got clipped in the shoulder then spent 30 seconds trying to use cover as ineffectively as humanly possible. That is not a justifiable charcter death
persona 4 music for the ad read is such a good choice
All things considered, one of Ubisoft's best works
Wanted to add 2 things.
(Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider)
The rebooted story for Tomb Raider is pretty good and the gameplay in all 3 games is pretty solid.

this game deserve a remaster, makes it aesthethic better than E3 preview
You are the new salt factory my man. Iv been enjoying all of your content. Very thorough and helps me “finish” my back catalogue. Much appreciated man
So is someone who's played it pretty religiously since it was released (my channel was almost exclusively Watch Dogs content and I was the co-founder for the multiplayer online Wiki )almost every day and I've taken a break from it over maybe a year I suppose this is how I feel.
(A Japanese player known as Kouichi developed a workaround for this, like the flat ground Ollie Rodney Mullen developed it forms the basis of all climbing.)
The story felt generic but serious post cyberpunk Noir atmosphere I loved and something that could not let go of when presented with the sequels.
I do hope more people play the game for the multiplayer especially and the exploration as knowing the map intimately and the glitches and exploits and how to climb buildings is the very core of the satisfying Enlightenment one gets from the high-level competitive hide and seek play.
There's a manual jump mod for Watch_Dogs?
@@icarusgaming6269 bomb jump and grenade launcher jump I have videos

Edgy? It was just mainly adult and satirical humor just like gta and it was a kinda serious story throughout, especially from the near start of the middle to the end of the game. Not as serious or dark as wd1 but it’s not goofy or wacky as ppl say. Go play the newer saints row games those are actually goofy and wacky. But Near the end of the game and especially the last mission it gets fun as hell, u play as all characters. Maybe it was sitara that was edgy but it never bothered me and the dlc is good too. The open world is definitely one of the best in gaming as well and it’s pretty underrated.
@@m.q.101my point was it was focused mostly on making your character look “cool” like look at my swag and what I’m wearing and seemed extremely self aggrandizing. Like I said I didn’t play it much. Will probably give it a second chance sometime soon. And I haven’t played SR since the third
