Worlds cheapest ultrasound probe cover

A glove and some tape is all you need for the worlds cheapest probe cover. By using chlorhexidine as contact medium and very careful technique, this can be used for sterile procedures such as peripheral lines and some regional anesthesia.

Does it work if you put gel outside the glove, without it coming into direct contact with the probe?

I do not use anything sterile, I do not touch the needle with the probe, and I use chlorhexidine as contact medium. The is possible to do with a sterile glove, but that defeats the point. A cover like this is to keep the probe clean, and stop the spread of infection between patients. Sterility for the procedure is maintained by NEVER touching the cannula with the ultrasound probe.
