Mother’s day is usually 3 weeks before easter in the UK. It stems from giving those who worked in service the opportunity to go home and visit their mothers ahead of the big spring religious celebration, hence why there are still church services to celebrate it in some churches too! All very Downton Abbey!

In the UK it is officially Mothering Sunday. I think the date is linked to the Church of England. Here in France, it is some number of weeks (6?) after Easter, I think. It is usually mid/end of May but this year it is in June, a week or two before Father’s Day ( third Sunday in June).
Mothers day same date as the uk think the us is June. Over here we have paddy's day Friday 17th then Sunday Mothers day, so a big weekend in Ireland. My plan this year for Mothers day is a trip to the garden centre 😀
