    I live next to this trail. The jeep/off road traffic we get here is insane for that trail, we just took our farm truck (1988 stock single cab 1500 manual) through it, also take 4 wheelers when were bored. Its tricky in spots but Def not worth the hype people say.

    Crazy how much trouble that one muddy spot gave them. But I’ve got a front locker/rear LSD and 35s with a warmed up 360 magnum. Mud worse than this was no issue.

    • @doingstuffseeingstuff

      Lockers make a world of difference. Chris only had the A trac only which uses the antilocking brakes. Once the air bag blew out all his weight shifted to the passenger side and it made things more difficult. That is all part of the adventure though. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for posting the video. Is it possible to drive this trail in a 2020 RAM 3500 SRW 4x4 short bed?

    • @doingstuffseeingstuff
      @doingstuffseeingstuff  Год назад

      I wouldn’t recommend it, not because of the capabilities but because of the width. I took my ram 1500 (1.5” leveling kit and 35”) and made it through. The trail in very narrow in many places and it scratched it up a good bit. The longer wheel base came in handy in some spots. Although the trail seemed to be a bit more difficult this time than when I did it in my ram. Safe travels and thanks for watching.

    @joannscalici Год назад +1

    Would a full-size pickup truck short bed pickup fit up there?

    • @doingstuffseeingstuff
      @doingstuffseeingstuff  Год назад +2

      I took a full size ram through a couple of years ago and I got a few minor scratches on it from tree branches. It is narrow in some sections and more so in the summer. With the current trail conditions I would recommend the truck have at least a 2” lift and maybe 34” tires for clearance. I didn’t have any issues when I went through in my Ram though. It had a limited slip rear end. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    • @Tazzspaz
      @Tazzspaz Год назад

      I agree with the channel's comment. For a full size truck you really need a lift and much larger tires due to the length. I would add skid plates and rock sliders to that as well. I just went through with my F150 FX4 33" tires no lift, skid plates, heavy duty traction ladders (not the thin ARB type). I got pretty beat up. Side steps trashed, rear bumper damaged, some frame dents, full skid plate coverage minus fuel tank came in very handy. It is difficult to show in pictures or video and conditions may have changed with recent rain. But there are some hefty drops into puddles, narrow lines or tracks due to obstacles. It was a very difficult day.

    Great video. What was the name of the road you were on. When you got off 40 we’re you on the east side of it or the west?

    • @doingstuffseeingstuff
      @doingstuffseeingstuff  Год назад +1

      I looked on Google and Gaia and the only name I could find was 233 so I think that might be the Forest Service road #. If you are on 40W coming from Asheville going to TN it is on your right. It comes up quick and there is no pull off. Look for the Harmon Den sign. When you see it up ahead slow down very quickly (it’s a bad spot so make sure no one is behind you). The road is at the sign. If you miss it, it’s a long way to get back to it. Go down to the Harmon Den exit turn around and go back to the next exit. You have to be on the I40 W direction to get to the road. I hope this helps.

      Don't hold me to it but I think you can as long as you have a tag. I think that is required by the NF service. I think it would be a blast on a bike and there is only one section that may difficult. The rest of it should be passable. The spot I am refering to is a seciotion that has been rutted out and I can't remeber if there was a way to get around it.
