They have a vacuum pump because when the engine goes into active fuel management/displacement on demand (shuts half the engine off) the engine does not make sufficient vacuum for the braking system. Corvettes use a electronic vacuum pump so it doesn't rob the engine of power or over rev the pump due to the potential of operating at higher engine revs due to the Corvette being a sports car.
Would this vacuum pump make tickin or tappin noise if it’s going bad? I have a 2018 tahoe with the 5.3…I have good oil pressure and no check engine lights??
So I have a 04 Tahoe 5.3, I have a similar issue. My pedal gets hard as a rock and locks my brakes. Have u come across this? After sitting for a long while my truck and brakes work fine but then I’ll drive it and the pedal becomes hard as a rock again n brakes lock again. Plz help.
I fixed my vacuum pump and still have the issue, I’ve noticed that when I push the pedal in hard I can hear something in the rear of my truck come unstuck and it lurches forward kinda, I get a service brake assist light also, any input would be appreciated
'99 chevy tahoe- brake pedal stiff as a rock, truck won't start. This has been going on for well over a year. I will wait a few hours or sometimes a day or even two days, then brake pedal isn't so stiff and truck will fire up fine. After watching many vids, I decided to dive into it. Gotta fix right? I replaced brake master cyclinder, brake power booster, check valve, bled the brakes, brakes are good. All of this seemed to fix the problem. Now after many months, it's doing it again. If the problem isn't those thing previously mentioned, where now should I be looking?
Quick question. My 18 silverado with only 9,000 miles on it, one brake caliper got stuck so I replace it, and now the other one is getting stuck. Any thoughts on that situation? TIA
There is an internal failure between your Brake booster and Master Cylinder. Don't make my mistake by replacing the wheel hub assembly, brake pads, rotors, and calipers. Have the dealer replace the Vacuum pump (under recall), if they find fluid inside the Booster then they should also replace the Brake booster.
Hi, great video! I have a sierra 3500 my pedal feels stiff when I first touch the brake then right after that works normally, but it does the same every time I use the brake. I wonder if Is this the same issue?
Lol yeah @thelatemodeltech is my buddy. Were both in the business of reconditioning cars from every make and model. Personally I recondition cars that are to be sold in our used car lot here at Lexus
@@greasemonkeyrepairs4737 do you have the link for the replacement? I about ran into a truck today for this same issue and my brake assist notification came on the dash. They had a recall on this but evidently didn't fix the issue
Thank you for this! This is exactly my situation right now. I just made an appointment for the dealership to correct it! It is an open recall.
Man, I been dealing with this for a few years. It’s the worst in traffic and drive through…looking forward to fixing this now. Thank you.
Thank you! Diagnosed my friends truck in 2 seconds with this video. You're awesome!
Yeah. This explains why it always happens in a drive through or stop and go traffic. 16’ Silverado

Can a vehicle with this issue still be driven until it’s taken to the shop?

So can I start by replacing the pump, belt and vacuum hose and not the booster?
